I don't seem to ever hear anyone talking about how money is being managed, what non-essentials it is being spent on, where savings could be achieved, etc. I get the feeling there is a level of entertainment that is seen as due.

Am I wrong here?

Going to the ER for a simple procedure will set you back thousands of dollars. It's not something that your average American can really save for, no matter how thrifty they are. Healthcare costs have grown insanely high and out of reach for even the most money conscious, thrifty American.

Are there county hospitals for those who cannot afford such?

Going to the Emergency Room in America may well result in a BILL for lots of money, however, for those who are uninsured, and can not PAY their bill.................they do not have to. And, the Emergency Room can not refuse to treat them. That is the Law........they must be treated.

Some people actually care enough about such a bill to tell the Hospital........well, I don't have insurance, and the best I can do is pay a small amount each month........as little as $10.00 a month would work. And, even then, many times the Hospital simply writes off the loss.

Every living person in the United States has access to Medical Care.............that is simply the truth.

EMTALA (42 USC § 1395DD, et seq, 42 CFR 489.24)
Congress passed EMTALA in 1985 specifically to address the problem of hospitals “dumping” indigent patients, that is turning away uninsured or indigent people seeking treatment so as to avoid the cost of treating them. EMTALA applies to hospitals that participate in Medicare and have designated emergency departments. It has two principal requirements: a hospital must (1) appropriately screen anyone who seeks emergency care regardless of ability to pay, immigration status, or any other characteristic and (2) stabilize the person's emergency condition within its capability and capacity. EMTALA imposes specific conditions on a hospital that wants to transfer an unstablized patient to another facility.
A hospital may not delay either the screening or stabilizing treatment to ask about a person's insurance status or how he or she will pay for services. It cannot seek, or ask the person to seek, insurance payment until it has screened the person and begun treatment to stabilize his or her condition. But it can use a registration process that includes asking about insurance, as long as that process doesn't delay screening or treatment or unduly discourage people from remaining for further evaluation (42 CFR 489.24(d)(4)(5)).
A hospital that violates these requirements is subject to civil penalties or termination from Medicare (although the latter penalty is rarely invoked).

As with any other legislation..........there is a lot to read, and a lot of legalese to work through.............but anyone can Google and find the information for themselves.

If you don't pay your hospital bills then this is sent to a collection agency, just like any other unpaid debt. Believe me, they don't just leave you alone or write it off. And in a perfect world the hospital would be so leniant but this isn't a perfect world. Not to mention the fact that most medical issues can't be treated in a single ER visit. I personally know too many people, good hard working people, who are suffering due to a lack of basic healthcare.

Interestingly enough, I've heard people argue that this is a form of socialism and anti-business since you are forcing a company to provide a product to customers who can't pay and the bill many times ends up being picked up by the tax payer. The fact that we have this law suggests that we do believe that people have some right to basic healthcare, regardless of whether they can pay or not.

And, they are probably right.......sigh......however, the point is......aw, never mind, you understood the point :)

Not BASIC Constitutional Rights to Health Care, rather a Nation's responsibility to act "charitably" towards the less fortunate among us. The Constitution does not guarantee Government provided Health Care.......but that does not mean that the Government and private enterprises should not provide Health Care assistance to those in need.

The difference is when it is "mandated" by the Government.

Partially true...........and, then, not so much. Have seen this play out many times just as I described.

I know what I mean and I stand by my words, I don't however know what you mean, and at this point I don't care. And how about showing some respect for our Creator and capitalize His name when you type it. I have never put anyone on ignore but I might as well with you since I don't know what the heck you're saying.
your asking for respect, after what you wrote. put me on it ,just proves, what i have said to be correct. when you cant even read, what you wrote, is this how your respected showed others.
who for the most part, are lazy parasites who can work but refuse to do so. This makes socialism and its benefactors reprehensible.

Ooooo, ooooo, I know! These people, as had others, made a covenant with God that when they sold their properties/whatever, that they would give a certain amount to Him.............these two (man and wife) broke that covenant with God, and paid the price for doing so. The tried to cheat God by giving Him less than they had vowed to do. However.......GOD DID NOT set the amount they vowed to give, they did.

When people make a covenant with God, that is a very serious thing...........and they WILL be held accountable by God if they break that covenant.

:) How'd I do?
I give you an A+.

Why aren't they going to the county hospitals?

Why aren't they going to the county hospitals?

Those that have county hospitals do..........but not all have access to county hospitals for one reason or another.

Maybe I'll get inspired to research this thoroughly and see if I can find the actual statistics......right now though, I'm just not that inspired..........and that's on me..........sigh

I am all for socialism. It means the poor do not have to go hungry; the rich can stay rich, but help the poor; and medical care for everyone. A job for everyone would be nice too, in a perfect world.

To name only a few things. Just coming from the middle in Canada. The US and the two party capitalist system is not working well, so try not to criticize countries which have a "mixed" economy, which means both capitalism and socialism, and it is working very, very well. As in, everyone has health care, everyone is fed, housed and clothed, and the debt is being paid down. And the rich are doing very nicely, too!

And Canada is the bread basket of the world! And all peace loving nations can rely on Canada's military might to protect it against oppression. Oh how lovely Canada is.

You Canadians just shut your door. Set the lock and snuggle up, even as the world collapses. But when the Night's wind wails, and the wolf comes a huffing and puffing at your isolated cabin in the woods, look South. For we are the night watchman.

Of course your debt is being paid. You all rely on the US to lead, fund, and fight battles, wars, and conflicts that threaten peace and safety.

Lazy parasites are people who are physically and cognitively capable of working but choose not to do so. Instead, they vote politicians into office who in turn, tax the working class people and give the taxed money to the parasites who, once again, continue to vote these politicians into office, who in turn continue to give them more taxed money . . . and the cycle goes on.

There are now so many parasites that they are collectively draining the economic system. It's like an inverted pyramid. The smaller working class is on the bottom supporting the larger section of parasites on top. Eventually the inverted pyramid is going to crash.

I give you ************************************************************************... and continue.

yet the political parties inherited , all the problems that country is in, yet this is the poor mans fault. the economy went into the red. how many poor bankers or politicians do you know. are they putting back the profits of previous years, to help restart there black hole, that they caused.

You quoted it yourself, and you don't know?
Acts 5, NASB
4 "While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."

What do you think that means, exactly?

I have no evidence other than its/his/her posts, but posts like zm posts at first and later looked to me like
an auto-bot posted auto-responses ,
but also I have not a clue if even the moderators can tell who or what is on the other end of a string of bytes.

Ummm we have tons of socialism here in America. A lot of people are touting and praising how many are on various forms of welfare. The numbers constantly increase, and whole generations of vast amounts of people are completely dependent upon it. The one question that those who praise FORCED Socialism can't seem to answer is: WHAT IS THE INCENTIVE FOR THESE PEOPLE TO EVER GET OFF OF IT?

fwiw, fao, (for what it's worth; for any one(anyone?) ) ....

check out the 'statistics' of washington texas, key search terms: cancer pancreatic mayor fire chief diabetes raw food.

and

other search: amish, chicago clinic (not amish) 35000 members, zero autism

and

other search at time and if God permits: seven (or 7) tribes, glacier, remote, driven by survival, long-lived, 100 years old is young , soil, "glacial soil" , mountains

to see if what (i.e. compare) God's Word says is true (about when and how God keeps a people from getting sick when all the population around them is not just sick but plagues abound).
