Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but a body you prepared for me;
[SUP]6 [/SUP]with burnt offerings and sin offerings
you were not pleased.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—
I have come to do your will, my God.’”[SUP][a][/SUP]

[SUP]8 [/SUP]First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”—though they were offered in accordance with the law. [SUP]9 [/SUP]Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. [SUP]10 [/SUP]And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. [SUP]12 [/SUP]But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, [SUP]13 [/SUP]and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. [SUP]14 [/SUP]For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:
[SUP]16 [/SUP]“This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”[SUP][b][/SUP]

[SUP]17 [/SUP]Then he adds:
Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more
.”[SUP][c][/SUP]

[SUP]18[/SUP]And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary Heb10:5-17
Well, when you quote Hebrews 10 to defend a false "sin and still be saved" doctrine, you also have to look at Hebrews 10:26 says, For if we willfully sin after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. Verse 38 says, Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

To receive knowledge of the truth would encompass accepting Jesus died for all your sin, past, present and future. Spiritual discernment would also tell you continual, wilfull sin would be being spoken of.

Also, do not build a theology out of one verse of scripture. Paul states when we are unfaithful he remains faithful for he cannot disown his own

Jason, your not the judge buddy...like I said I have already explained enough to you in regards to obedience . What I doubt is that you and the others that lecture other members on the forum are really any different than those I described before? As I have found the judgmental types to be very ungodly and almost always under bondage to sin.
I do not live in habitual sin as a way of life. Can you say the same? If I sin, I confess of that sin and forsake it with the Lord. Can you say the same? Or do you believe sin is not imputed to you, so you do not need to focus on feeling guilty about sin when you do sin? Again, you do not have to answer my questions personally. You can answer them from a third person perspective. I am just trying to understand what you believe.

I am sorry, that is not an adeduate refutation or answer to what Hebrews 10:26 and or Hebrews 10:38 actually says. It's like you are ignoring what is written in those verses.

I believe if a Christian sins they come before their Father in Heaven as a child does a parent and seeks their forgiveness. This is not so they will avoid being cast into hell, for the3ir eternal security with God is not threatened. And they will come and seek forgiveness, for they have been born again of the spirit and will have no rest, no peace until they do so.

According to the standard the law sets I sin every day, there is a difference however between that, and living a sinful lifestyle that would rob you of progressing in the Christian faith and leaving sin as your master, you have to discern between the two states. The Christian is called to cross over from being a slave to sin to a person being led into holiness. I agree with that fully

Do you believe you can abide in just one unrepenant sin (Like lust, hate, lying, stealing, etc.) and die and be saved?

Mitspa,
You are never going to be able to convince people of a love relationship, as long as they can only imagine obeying out of fear.
Its a healthy respect of the fear of God and a love for Him. For it is the fear of the Lord that we persuade men (As the Scriptures say).

Fear not him who can destroy the body, but fear him who can destroy both body and soul in Hell (i.e. Gehenna, - the Lake of Fire).

Well lets try to save some of them
Oh, good. Then please answer my questions and maybe I can begin to understand what you believe; Or are you not interested in actually saving anyone according to your beliefs?

Please take note that I am already a saved born again believer in Jesus Christ who does not believe he is saved by works. I believe I am saved right here and right now by God's grace when I repented of my sins and accepted Him. If I sin again, I confess and forsake that sin so as to continue and or abide in Christ's righteousness (And not my own righteousness).

If you crossed the road, and as you did so you fleetingly looked at a woman improperly, then instantly got run over by a bus and died, do you believe you would be cast into hell?

This is a rather self-righteous and kind of disgusting left-handed accusation.

Many here have stated, unequivocally, that they do.

No I am not ignoring them, however, you are ignoring the scripture from Heb 9&10 that clearly shows Christ died for all your sin at Calvary. If he did not, you could not have a righteousness apart from the law. Rather than take an odd verse and try and defend your doctrine around it, start at the beginning, the core of the new covenant. ''I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more. And where these have been forgiven sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary''

You need to read the bible as a cohesive whole, not a random verse or two to build your foundational belief on

Will anyone on these boards that believes they are saved by their works, that is, by obeying God please say so and explain this process? I am not addressing those who think they should obey because they are saved, not in order to be saved. It seems many on these boards must believe such, since the topic is brought up so often. I await you testimony.
The faith is dead without the works according to the faith.

13.For judgment is without mercy to him that hath showed no mercy: mercy glorieth against judgment. 14. What doth it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but have not works? can that faith save him? 15. If a brother or sister be naked and in lack of daily food, 16. and one of you say unto them, Go in peace, be ye warmed and filled; and yet ye give them not the things needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17. Even so faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself. (James 2:13-17)

I don't see anyone yet, straight up defending salvation by works. A couple of leaning perhaps, but none actually teaching it. With all the hoopla about it on these boards, I was expecting some real staunch defense of the same. Let's wait a little longer and see.
Salvation is a deliverance. We are delivered from this present evil world to an eternal home in heaven, without the help of man's good works. God's people who are already saved eternally, are saved(delivered)often as we live our lives here in this world, and these salvations are dependent upon our good works. When God answers our prayers, there is a deliverance(salvation) involved. Most of the salvation scriptures are referring to deliverances God gives us in the here and now.

It really is brought up a lot, isn't it. My take (while paraphrasing what's in the word)

*We are saved by grace through faith
*Because our faith is exhibited through works, faith without works is dead (Christ said we will know a tree by it's fruit)

Soooooooooooo, both go hand in hand.
We are saved by grace through faith. I think that phrase is in Eph 2:8, and the "faith" in this passage is referring to Christ's faithfulness in going to the cross. It is also Jesus's faith in Gal 2:16. We do not have access to spiritual faith (like the carnal men described in 1 Cor 2:14) until we are born of the Spirit. What we call "our faith" is in reality a fruit of the Spirit, so until we are born of the Spirit, we have no spiritual faith.

There is a difference between believing in Christ with your mouth, and being born again.
When we are truly born again, we are set free from sin by the power of the Holy Spirit.
When the Bible says:

1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Children of God are in the light and not in darkness. Acts 26:18 - to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.

2 Corinthians 6:14 - Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

Ephesians 5:8 - For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.

It is speaking of those who have been truly born again, not the "Christians" who profess Christ but are not born again.
If a Christian is still being disobedient from the heart, then they are still living under the law.
Still subject to the law and still slaves to sin.

When the Bible says we are free from the law, it is not because we are free to break it whenever we want.
It is because by the power of the Holy Spirit, we no longer do things which are unloving towards God and other people.

There is no law against love, there is no law against the things of the Spirit.
When we are born again, we do not worry about breaking the law, we become loving towards God and people from the heart. When this happens, we are no longer under the law because our thoughts, words and actions are loving and obedient.

Any thoughts which are sinful must not be entertained, but instead submitted to Christ.

If anyone is a Christian, yet still living under the law of sin and death, they need to repent and turn from their ways and submit to the Holy Spirit. Only when the Holy Spirit conforms you to Christ and makes you obedient to the Spirit and love, do you truly become free in Christ.

If we are obedient from the heart, but happen to sin, then there is forgiveness and grace.
But anyone disobedient from the heart and walking by the flesh continually... They are on the wrong path
Our works do not save us, faith in Christ saves us.
Faith that we live. We must choose the master we wish to serve with our actions.

Just curious but how does a thread like this engender 10 pages? One hundred lifetimes of one hundred years each of perfect obedience and good works will not save one. We are saved by the life of Christ...

Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

A lot of people do not know this stuff.
And actually, a lifetime of perfect obedience would save someone. But it is not humanly possible only Christ was capable of that
