If we are bound by the limits of our flesh through legalism and trying to justify our flesh, the devil will always have power over us.
What if we are not trying to justify our flesh, but we just want to be obedient to our Father out of love? Is loving, being obedient and respecting our Father legalism?

First, the OT Law of Moses is no longer binding. Second, the moral law has not been destroyed, though. Third, loving fulfills the moral law and it is not legalism. Four, when a person repents of their sin and accepts Christ and is saved, they will then naturally obey the moral law. Five, Romans 7 is Paul speaking from his perspective as a Jew before he became a Christian. Paul says in verse 14 that he is carnal and sold under sin. Yet in Romans 8:2 Paul says Christ Jesus has made him free from the law of sin and death. Is Paul contradicting himself? No. As I said before. Romans 7 is Paul speaking from his experience as a Jew obeying the Law. Which would mean Romans 8:1 is the solution for the Jew who is struggling to keep the Law. For Romans 8 is his counsel for the Christian.[/QUOTE I don't think he is speaking about his previous jewishness. For even now when we would do good evil is present, Paul's conclusion is with his mind he serves God ,but with his flesh the law of sin, For in the flesh dwells no good thing, For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus sake, that the Life of Jesus also might be manifested in us Rom4:11, For the natural man knows not the thing of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him, neither CAN he know them, because they are spiritually discerned

Does “not by works” mean there is nothing we can do to be saved? Or does it mean that when we have done all that is commanded we are still “unprofitable servants”? (Luke 17:10)

Because when I look at the case of Simon, after he became a Christian and sinned, he was told to repent or perish. (Acts 8:18-24)

To perish is to be eternally lost (John 10:28; Luke 13:3; 2 Peter 3:9-11) Simon’s repentance was a work to be done (Acts 26:20) If Simon didn't obey the command to repent, he would have empowered the chief of the demons in his life.

Did Simon’s work of repentance save him or was he simply an unprofitable servant doing the commands of God?

We are created to do good works (Ephesians 2:10) Continue in good works, then eternal life (Romans 2:6-10) Could one of those good works be the work of repentance?

you're correct - a son does what the father says. that is, an obedient son does. a son who the father teaches and trains in the right way.

on the other hand, the 'son' who disobeys , who doesn't do what the father says, who lies about being faithful, that one is doomed to be raised in shame for destruction.

the 'school' that trained mtsy, or the demons? , won't let it go - too much sin to atone for it is thought, or some other defect in thinking that prevents acknowledging the father's forgiveness in the blood of the lamb by atonement.

if that one, and any other, could believe they are redeemed, that their sins are truly forgiven, they would joyfully do all that the father says to do.

but apparently there are several who cannot believe they are really really really FORGIVEN

-they just don't believe it, so they are pressured into all sort of nonsense to try to fix themselves.....

apparently they just can't believe Jesus loves them enough to forgive them,

to present them before the Father in heaven spotless and without wrinkle, so that they could

start doing the works that God provided for them to do (if they are to be His) ever since before the creation of the world......

And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.”

Deut 6:25

My apologies
But God said that nobody except Jesus has ever kept the Law or ever will, so there is no righteousness in keeping the law.

Would God consider it their righteousness, for as you say, no one under the law ever had a true righteousness before God for none perfectly kept it (Psalms143:2)

There is no righteousness in keeping the law alone, that is without grace. We do keep the law as best we are able after having Salvation enter into us out of love

When we are not obedient there is only one alternative,, disobedience. We, who believe jESUS cHRIST, ARE NOT LAWLESS, WE ARE NOT DISOBEDIENT, ALTHOUGH, AT THE SAME TIME, WE ARE BY NO MEANS PERFECT. wE ARE BEING PERFECTED UNTIL THAT GLORIOUS Day of the lORD, WHEN THE WORK hE BEGAN IN US IS COMPLETE. Praise God, amen. (forgive the mixed caps..keybord problem...

basically sound. still, 'with faith', like rahab, when she hid the spies, and protected them from those trying to kill them,
she was called righteous for that. if it had not been done in faith /or "with faith"/ in yahweh, it would not have been

considered righteous. because it was "in faith" or "with faith" or "by faith" in yahweh, it was called righteous by him...

but if she had not protected the spies. if she had let them be caught, or did nothing to protect them from being caught,

then even if she completely totally with all her heart believed in yahweh, she would have died with all the others in the city, and her family would have died with her (unless yahweh provided another way of life /survival for them).

complete faith, totally believing in yahweh (God), without DOING what he says, or without doing what is by faith in him,

is just like the bible says >>> a body without breath.*or without spirit* IS DEAD. not alive by faith - not alive by believing --- without the works of faith, there is nothing.

of course, if anyone can find a human body walking around without ever breathing, then they could prove God wrong, eh?!

no problem. stop breathing. don't breath again. if you breath, that is works. and you can't live by works. to be true to what you say, you should just live by faith, without works.... so no breathing. that would be dishonest, and we wouldn't want that, would we?

Funny how God said He took them out of bondage and gave them the 10 commandments. Today the church is telling us that we are in bondage from trying to be obedient to God’s word.

QUOTE] It also says that when he led them out he did not give them any commandments concerning sacrifice ect , but only said obey my voice, which they didn't want to do , so then to a stiff necked people he gave the law, as a schoolmaster to leed them to Christ. Even with Moses they didn't want to here him. Its hard to believe that cloths not wareing out , water from a rock, meat from heaven, manna every day Yet,YEt YET they still hardened there necks. Hard to believe!!!

Just a sincere question. In your view, if a person loves God and their neighbour, do they then need to concentrate on the literal words of commandments to obey them and show that love, or by simply loving God and others will they obey God's commands without having to refer to them?

Should I steal to avoid becoming a legalist?

Christ was very serious when He told us to sin no more.
In fact He went so far as to tell us to become mutilationists if necessary.
Is mutilation legalism?

It appears to upset you, the thought men cannot have a true righteousness of their own by their efforts to be good enough under the law. You are not alone in that, many in Jesus day suffered from the same(as well as today)

"..In your view..." doesn't matter one iota. what is God's view - that's what counts.

He wants us concentrating on HIM. seeking HIM with our lives immersed completely always in Yahshua.

not on trying to keep a list of rules or regulations....

delight in HIM, in HIS WORD, like KING DAVID, or rather like YAHSHUA(of course),

and like all the ekklesia. everywhere. all the time. DELIGHT IN YAHWEH'S WORD.

IF IF IF IF IF IF IF IF you are a new creation. IF IF IF IF IF IF you have a new heart and new soul and new spirit -

BORN BY THE WILL OF YAHWEH and not man and the flesh....

THEN THEN THEN THEN THEN THEN you will love to do what YAHWEH wants to do - what you see Him DO, you will DO,
what YAHWEH SPEAKS, you will speak. so simple, true, and pure.

and YAHWEH faithfully honors HIS OWN WORD more than HE honors HIS OWN NAME. -- so

you don't have to worry or concentrate or even think at all that YAHWEH will break one of HIS OWN WORDS(commandments).....

now,

back to being a son of yahweh. since yahweh won't break one of his own commandments, ever.

and a son does what he sees his father doing, (if he's really a son, or a good son anyway(by yahweh's own word)).

then a son won't break one of yahweh's words(commandments), BUT he will rejoice over them instead - he will

joyfully and willingly and whole-heartedly BE A DOER OF THE WORD and not a HEARER ONLY.

EVERYTHING the FATHER SAYS TO DO, the son will do. always, day and night, for the rest of his life.....

you contradict yourself in your own posts and don't even know it.
remember jesus says
if you knew you were blind, your sin wouldn't be held against you.....

if you weren't blind, you wouldn't go by appearances.

Would God consider it their righteousness, for as you say, no one under the law ever had a true righteousness before God for none perfectly kept it (Psalms143:2)

No contradiction, just surprised at your insistence on works, while at the same time you write many posts, that are distinctly unloving to others.

Wisdom is always proved right by its inconsistencies

since open rebuke is better than hidden love, why do you think love could be silent ?

Yahweh's Word contradicts what you say, so is HE UNLOVING ? is HE INCONSISTENT... ? (no, but if you don't listen

to him... )

or , would you as it appears prefer others to join you on the wide road ?

We as Christians should be walking by the Spirit and not by the flesh.
The flesh is sinful the Spirit is not.
