just catchin' up...

You know, cholesterol gets such a bad rap.

It's actually good for you. It's a pre-hormone. Your body can turn it into testosterone under the right conditions. And testosterone is good for everybody, women too!
Hope you like your women manly...

Howdy! Mah name's Roberta...butchoo kin call me "Bob."

You never really know what you're going to get in chat. I just popped in for a brief moment... and a guy there used the exact same line in PM that he'd used the last time I ran into him in chat about 6 months.

I'll add to my list of "certainties" in life: death, taxes, and knowing that some people will always use the same ridiculous lines (he likes to say that he's a "stray doggy" who needs someone to take him home and take care of him).

Good grief.

I guess PETA must now have a handbook of really lousy pickup lines...
A rolled up newspaper would come in handy...but he might like that.

n the interest of clearing up any confusion...which, may not be completely possible...

For many months, prior to New Year, Angie and I had asserted (and not falsely, I might add) that we were nothing more than very good friends. I had, at one point, very adamantly asserted this, emphasizing that I never wanted to be anything less than honest with any of you here. That, the bit about the honesty, hasn't changed, but since her visit over New Years, she and I both agree that "very good friends" is not accurate anymore. We are definitely more than friends now, but we're still struggling to define what we are.

As I said to her last night, I have thought to myself commonly in recent months, "I feel like I have a significant other...without actually having a significant other." Clear as mud, neh? Even after talking it over for a few hours last night, we're still left with nothing but vague Facebookish terms like "dating" or "it's complicated"...which still don't really explain what we are (or what we aren't).

Also, because of the...nebulous...nature of the relationship, please understand that this isn't an announcement. We're not looking for attention, support, or anything like that; we're just seeking to be honest with everyone here. You aren't going to see me flirting with her or insinuating things in forum posts (although I'll probably still be obnoxious in chat), just due to the semi-permanent nature of the forums and the desire to be discreet.

Hope this answers any questions you may have had about Angie and I. If it did not, you are welcome to ask me or her. Because...we would be the appropriate people to ask. *tips hat*

I visited friends in Kansas City this weekend. I'm friends with two couples that I knew in college before they got married. They are twin brothers and I know them as well as both of their wives. One of them has twin girls (a twin who has twins, and I am a twin, it's like a twin gathering when I go up... Except my twin isn't there. ANYWAY), a little over a year old. When I got there, the babies were all asleep so we talked.

It was then that the other couple told me that they were pregnant. I was so. Stinking. Excited. I'm very excitable anyway but big announcements like that.... I just go all out. But, I had to be quiet because of the sleeping children!!! So I was silently screaming, fanning myself, rocking in my chair and waving my arms around. "Are you serious? Ahhhh are you serious?! Ahhhhh!! Yasssss I'm so happy for you!!!"

If you have ever seen Kristin WIG'S SNL Surprise Party skit... That's how I felt/acted.

I'm super excited for them. And slightly worried at how I will handle myself when I am married and find out I am pregnant.

Hey everyone - I am planning to volunteer as a Sunday School teacher at my church and also for VBS (Vacation Bible School).

I am so excited about this prospect of working with children and discussing God with them.

I strongly believe that our childhood experiences with God shape us and is something we hold on to in times of deep trouble. It's like the parable of the sower - the seeds that sprout deep roots...

It can happen during childhood.

Also, Jesus always said "Let the little children come to me." Their angels in heaven are always before God.

I am hoping that I get such an opportunity to be with them!

If any of you are/were volunteers with children at Sunday School or any such program - it would be nice to share those experiences....

PS - I think I'll make a thread instead :)

You!!!

It's been a while Mister! How are you? Were you snowed in?

I've been around, though not much here on CC. I am enjoying the weather at my country. It's almost summer here and just chilling out with friends :)

PS - I think the chatrooms require Adobe flashplayer.

I have also been following what's happening in my country - both politically as well as socially.

The state of affairs for women here is quite dismal and the release of the documentary by BBC on Nirbhaya- Delhi 2012 rape incident (which was banned in India but I watched it anyway) has opened a can of worms.

It truly shows what our culture and attitude is towards women.

Unlike before, when something would be enough to shake me, I am viewing all of this in a positive manner with God at my side. I know very well how God has protected me and I trust HIM to always be with me.

I do not think that India is the worst country out there but our society definitely needs a shift to mandate a change in our perceptions.

I like writing about these issues on one of my blogs. Not as a means to remonstrate what is already wrong but in a way cathartic to me that I have a say in things.

Having experiences with leadership and the processes of being elected, I do think I understand the burden that comes from shouldering such responsibilities.

Also, sometimes the change we wish to perceive outside of us must first begin inside.

Though I think politics is inherently dirty - it's powerful. I may consider dropping my hat in that ring in the future.

Perhaps you were made to stand out? Rather than get lost in a crowd :)

For me it's this song - there's this line that stayed with me for hours.

"She makes the sound, the sound the sea makes to calm me down"

I watched that documentary the other day. I was in shock, I'm praying for her and her family.

The key to teaching a group of children something is to use object lessons that involve a kid. And do the object lesson first thing. They'll watch you the whole rest of the lesson to see what crazy thing you're going to do next.

When I started teaching children's church I was a bit dubious. How could I get a bunch of kids to listen to anything I had to say? But I actually found I was having fun with it.

In local news, last time I was at Aldi I picked up a jar of mixed nuts (cashews, hazelnuts, almonds, brazil nuts, pecans) with the intent to take them to work today. So this morning I saw the jar and set it out beside the computer so I would remember to take it to work. Then I started eating... now the jar has very few brazil nuts, and they're all on the bottom where I can't easily reach them (which is why they are still in there.)

As long as nobody at work reads the label and notices there are supposed to be brazil nuts in the mix I should be alright. Hmm, maybe I could get this label off...
