Yes, on my father's side.

On my mothers side here. I remember an old pic my mother had showed me of her grandmother ... or great-grandmother, not sure which. Full-blooded Native Indian princess ...Blackfoot tribe, I seem to recall. Not exactly sure why the "title" princess. Guessing a daughter of the chief ... something along that line. Somebody in my clan surely has that pic somewhere.

i just saw (but haven't read) a book claiming some of the first slaves here
in the 1600s were Irish. my dad had enough Irish in him he looked like a
large leprechaun.

very twinkly green eyes, full of mischief. :)

That is true. There were many from all of the British controlled countries. Many were the poor or disenfranchised. A great many of them were indentured slaves.

on my paternal granddad's side, i traced the family back to antebellum Kentucky,
and can't find anything prior to 1830.

BUT, now i have a really good Dad, and a whole new Family. :)

Mark owns a business, and yesterday he got a cell phone call from a telemarketer.
how she got his # and name, i don't know, but she asked if our last name is German,
and he said, yes.

she asked if he had been to the 'homeland', and he said...
i live here. :)
hehe
