You bet....just don't let John con you into that "turkey bacon" stuff. That's like drinking decaff coffee or a diet soda. It's like, what is the point?
Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage taste good though. I agree about the decaf and diet soda. Yesterday I had a root beer made with cane sugar and not high fructose corn syrup. I'm getting back to basics.

Geesh ... Did you have to say it so loud ? Now my doggies aren't going to leave me alone :(

You know.... I don't get bacon all the time.. I dont cook it, my husband does, and even when he does cook it... I can't keep my hands from "taste testing" it. Then next thing you know, we dont have anything for breakfast lol. but oh well... at least I can still dream about it... :) Cute pups btw!

Yea, that has always amused me. I go to Mexican restaurant and watch someone order a full Mexican dinner swimming in grease with all the trimmings with chips and salsa and then order a diet coke. That always makes me chuckle.

My mother was an excellent cook and dad raised a garden. I remember half-runner beans, fried squash and fresh tomatoes and homemade baked macaroni and cheese with real longhorn cheese. I gotta go get a snack, I just made myself hungry.

What did everyone enjoy about meal time as a child?

Ketchup is the first thing that comes to mind. I remember as a little kid thinking that it was something used to help cool off the food. K ... maybe I wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer :( My mom was an excellent cook and baker. Eight kids too. Saturdays were always baking days. Those were my favorite days for dinner :)

You could take all you want at our table but you had to eat what you took.

I always felt uncomfortable at the table and did not really enjoy mealtimes.
With three of us boys, we didn't pay much attention to comfort zones at the table. We were too busy eating with both hands.

We were five kids and meal time was family time. I still remember the fights between my older brothers but if I knew then what I knew now I would have soaked in every special moment with my family.

Fridays was our "special day" and we were allowed to watch television while eating and that was such a big occasion because we would sit and watch shows like MacGyver, A-Team and all those classics as a family.

And homemade bread. Always homemade bread ... and home canned peaches in the winter. Nothing better as a kid :) My mother was a fuss pot. My aunts used to kid her about ironing everybody's underwear. I mean ... what's wrong with that ? Don't you guys iron your underwear too

I remember eating amazing amounts of food and never gaining weight. When I got married, I was 6' 2" and 145 pounds. Now it is a real struggle to keep at a decent weight for cycling (165#)

Yea, Daddy always tried to teach us boys proper table manners.

"Boy, you lick the butter off that knife before you stick it in that jelly."
