I grew up believing masturbation was disgusting and it could condemn me to hell. For I went to a church that preached a very high standard of righteous living. I simply became consumed by masturbation. The dirtier I felt at committing the act, the more of a pull to masturbate. I became consumed by it.
I gave up with God for a while believing I was too rotten and dirty to be a Christian
Fortunatley for me a few years later I read a book and learnt of grace. I learnt I was secure with God because Christ died for me. He was the only righteousness I had before God. I didn't have to be good enough or fear being cast into hell. So I got down on my knees and asked God to deal with the masturbation and trusted him to deal with it. I stood on a righteousness of faith in Christ. It wasnt easy, for the next three days I continued masturbating. A voice inside my head kept telling me I could not be a Christian and commit such an act, but for the first time in my life I did not listen, I clung to Jesus, trusting he was my right standing before God. Four days later, the masturbation which had consumed me for six years stopped. As Paul said:
For sin shall not be your master, for you are not under law(a righteousness of obedience to the law) but under grace(through faith in Christ.) rom 6:14

This just brought me to tears because you are absolutely right. I pray with all my heart that anyone coming into this room for help would find the Lord's mercy, grace and wisdom, in Jesus' name!
There is a difference between ethical and moral. Both acts are immoral but perhaps viewed differently
They will. The world is littered with fools and somehow God helps us find our way past them.

Masturbation.... when it becomes habit, it is an addiction, just like drug abuse. It releases dopamine and part of dopamine's purpose and releases is when relationship, connectedness and love is given and received. Incessant masturbation is a "coping skill"....or a broken mechanism to "feel good" because of separation brought on by dysfunctional relationship.
Telling someone something is wrong serves no purpose but shame.

I want to edit this to say......telling someone masturbation is wrong and a shameful act will cause that someone to take it to the closet.
You make a valid point, however a single person has more time and energy to give to God than a married person, thus it can be said that such a person actually gives more of their life to Christ than a married person. And since a sin is a sin is a sin, what difference is masturbation compared to a sin that any ole' married person commits?
Thank you for your wonderful testimony of Gods power and kindness towards us. This will help many as condemnation and shame immediately proceeds masturbation.
What ever happened to "The truth shall set you free"? That's not to say that you need to be cruel, or discourteous in how you speak, but people should know the truth, and how will they know it if nobody says it?

That and "giving your entire life to Christ" is a process that results in the destination of being with Christ when we die.
What is your clear and convincing evidence from the Bible that masturbation is sinful behavior?
I would ask the same of anybody else who has made comments similar to yours.
......... just as long as your "telling" sounds like the way Jesus would say it. (The only people He ever 'bashed' were the stubborn legalists........ NEVER the honest seekers)
