This can become a bit touchy for some but I will tell you my beliefs versus what I know the Jehovah's witness believe.

1. I believe that Jesus was more than a man.- That He was God-man. Col. 2:9. They believe He is nothing more than a man, a good man, even a perfect man, but only a "Messenger" from God, who as a mere man "represented" God on Earth for a few short years.

2. I believe in the Redemptive power of the Blood of Christ. Ephesians 1:7. They believe that, as a man, Christ died only to provide a "Ransom" and who's death meant only that a lonely man was dying on a meaningless cross.

3. I believe in the Christ who physically rose from the grave. Rom. 1:4. They believe Christ is dead , forever dead.

4. I believe in the Christ who is coming back to Earth again even in like manner as He went away. Acts 1:11. They believe that Christ came back to Earth in 1914 and is now invisible, only waiting for the Battle of Armageddon, when He will avenge Himself on His enemies.

5. I believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. 2 Tim. 3:16. They believe that the Bible had to be "Russellized" before it could be meaningful to those in search of truth.

6. I believe in the reality of the Holy Spirit as a person/ part of the triune of God. John 16:13. They believe in a "Spirit" who "Is not God", but only the "Influence" of Jehovah.

7. I believe that death is the end of man's probationary period. Heb. 9:27. They believe that death is extinction, annihilation, and that during the millennium all will be raised again for a second chance at salvation.

8. I believe that salvation only comes thru faith in the atoning blood of Christ. Titus 3:5-6. They believe in "Salvation" by Works- regardless of how frantic or sacrificial.

9. I believe in a future life of eternal Reward or punishment, for everyone. Matt. 25:46. They believe that Hell is non-existent and that the wicked will be annihilated while heaven will be reserved for only those choice "Witnesses", 144,000 while all the rest of those who have been obedient to God during their lives will be relegated to this Earth, where they will eat, drink, propagate, and live forever with perfect mortal bodies an Edenic paradise.

10. AND FINALLY I BELIEVE THAT NO MAN AS QUESTIONABLE IN MORALS, DISREPUTABLE IN CHARACTER, AND DISTORTED IN THINKING AS CHARLES TAZE RUSSELL COULD BE THE FOUNDER OF A RELIGION THAT IS THE ONLY TRUE REVELATION OF GOD.THE ONLY REMEDY FOR THE ILLS AND INJUSTICES OF THIS WORLD, AND THE ONLY HOPE FOR THE LIFE TO COME.

Just sayin-smile.

In your opinion it does.
Not my opinion. That is simply the construction of the Greek. Grammar has rules that must be followed no matter what language is represented. When one violates the rules of grammar, communication of a given idea become impossible. This is not about my opinion or a particular way of interpreting the text. This is about following the rules of Greek grammar and calling into question those who violate those rules which is what the NWT has done in John 1:1 and other places as well. They violate the grammar to fit a particular theology that the text will not support.

In certain scripture it clearly states that Jesus said there was one greater than he, how can there be one greater than God if you believe Jesus is God?.
Yes, that is true but let us look at one thing at time. I will address this later.

Okay, there is a lot of misinformation on this thread. For anyone that wants to know the difference between a Jehovah's Witness and other Christians I have one simple statement that will explain. Jehovah's Witnesses follow bible teachings, and not human traditions. If anyone has any questions concerning Jehovah's Witnesses please feel free to start with me.
I presume you are a JW? The JWs do not follow Bible teaching. They follow Watchtower teaching. To them their literature is more important than the Bible (in practise if not in theory). Prove that you know the Bible and they will disappear. They used to cite the Hebrew to me. I got my Hebrew Old Testament and said, OK show me it in here. They protested they did not know Hebrew.

Notice how often they quote from Job, much of which God Himself said was WRONG DOCTRINE (Job 42.7).

One interesting book you should read was published in 1920. NOTE THE DATE. It was entitled, 'MILLIONS NOW LIVING WILL NEVER DIE'. That was 95 years ago. I wonder how many people of over 95 are living today? It seems their prophesies are to be proved wrong AGAIN.

Their translation of the Bible (New World Translation) was supposed to have been translated for them by angels. Since the angels did their work it has been revised over 40 times. Some angels!!!

Hell is non-existent
Durante degli Alighieri, Dante's satan, Divina Commedia, a poet, The poem's imaginative vision. Just simply a vision, On the surface, the poem describes Dante's travels through hell, purgatory and heaven, Satan's hell is a myth, a distortion. Hades, hell is mankinds common grave.

No i am not one of Jehovah's witnesses, i'm not even a Christian, i have christian values i believe in God and Jesus Christ as a saviour for sinful mankind but that alone does not equate me as a Christian, imho. I do a lot of research so i go to wherever the evidence leads me, as a good honest detective would do.

The world is becoming full of imposters- men who will not admit that Jesus the Christ really became man. Now this is the very spirit of deceit and is anti-christ.

.....the man who is so "advanced" that he is not content with what Christ taught, has in fact no God...

If any teacher comes to you who is disloyal to what Christ taught, don't have him inside your house. Don't even wish him "God-speed", unless you want to share in the evil that he is doing.

When Jesus became man He lowered His status to that of man, even while He was still God. Thus He prayed to God as His God (but He never linked Himself with others by saying 'OUR God'). He had made HIMSELF LESS GREAT THAN THE FATHER BY CHOICE. As Paul says, 'Being in form as God He emptied Himself taking the form of a Servant (Phil 2.5 ff). That is why while on earth He could say, 'My Father is greater than I'. That is why He prayed to His Father, 'Glorify Me WITH THE GLORY WHICH I HAD WITH YOU BEFORE THE WORLD WAS'. That is why He has been given THE NAME ABOVE EVERY NAME, THE NAME OF YHWH (PHIL 2.9).

In the beginning was the Word (Who was made flesh and dwelt among us) and the Word was face to face with God in permanent relationship, and the Word was of the very nature of God. This is what the Greek means. That is why Peter spoke of Him as 'our GOD and Savior' (2 Pet 1.1)

What does that have to do with JW's?
What?, that scripture says not to worship images, the cross in worship could be seen as idol worship, of which that scripture says not to do.

I don't have a problem with Jesus being a man on earth, it's confusing when this house states that Jesus is actually God Almighty Himself, YOU claim that mary was not the mother of God yet YOU believe that Jesus is God, so mary gave birth to God, so can YOU not see the confusion i see?.

(looks like there're some JW's here, which I think is great... welcome!)

The Watchtower says that the scriptures have been tampered with... I think that's the phrase used in 'The Divine Name That Will Live Forever' tract.

The context is,

There are no extant ancient copies of the Christian Greek Scriptures that have the Name in them.

The Name must have been there in the originals, so it must have been removed.

****************
So, satan has the power to alter all copies of the Christian Greek Scriptures.

This means that we have no reliable NT copies, everything is in doubt.

Right, so based on that YOU are saying that mary gave birth to God.
No, that the One to Whom she gave birth is God. There is a difference. Jesus manhood was conceived by Mary, His Godhood came into her through the Holy Spirit.

In fact the Name is found in the Greek New Testament in its Greek translation of LORD. That is why Jesus is our LORD Jesus Christ. It is why He will be proclaimed LORD, the Name above every Name (Phil 2.9-12)

Here is the best description in human terms I have heard for the Trinity doctrine;

Water, Ice, Steam:

All made up of the same elements but in different forms, so is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit....
Each made up in their different forms and different qualities, yet all a part of the same Godhead.....

Just like every person in the faith of Jesus Christ are different members, but we make up one church body....

No, that the One to Whom she gave birth is God.
So therefore mary gave birth to God yes?, s,o Jesus is the Almighty God?, or is Jesus Christ another God?, are there two God's?, or you mean she became pregnant with the help of God by Holy Spirit?

There is a difference.
What difference is that?.

Jesus manhood was conceived by Mary, His Godhood came into her through the Holy Spirit.
So Jesus Christ is the Son of God you mean?, but Jesus Christ is not the Almighty God?. Confused.com.

So God is the Almighty God?, Jesus is the Son of God? and Holy Spirit is some kind of supernatural force?, so three seperate distinct entities?
