Look at the people of Israel in Egypt.

It is not that hard. all we have to do is open our eyes.

People in church are near to God. Just like they were, It does not mean THEY EVER HAD FAITH IN GOD which saved them.
Please explain HOW an unbeliever can FALL INTO unbelief while being IN UNBELIEF. That's like saying a man that is ALREADY in the mud can fall INTO the mud WHILE being IN THE MUD.

Belief will not save. James makes this clear. Only true faith saves (even you called it saving faith a few days ago)

The people of Israel BELIEVED in God. they did not HAVE FAITH IN GOD.

They continued to prove their lack of faith, and eventually nothing God could do would change their minds, they proved this when people went into the land and said their were giants in the land. The people fell from belief, they did not believe God could do a thing, and they would be defeated.

Do you trust him or not?

Sounds like a wishy washy faith to me (which is no faith at all) if you have to worry about falling out of it. Thats not faith. Thats foolishness.
Nope the warnings are from a loving Father so the faith that He has given me,so it may be protected, watered, fed and nurtured. They are boundaries to keep me safe and to bring me home. I trust my Father who gave us the boundaries that these are for my good.

You didn't answer the question. The question I asked was this

Please explain HOW an unbeliever can FALL INTO unbelief while being IN UNBELIEF. That's like saying a man that is ALREADY in the mud can fall INTO the mud WHILE being IN THE MUD.

I just did. If you would open your eyes even a little you would see

The children of Israel BELIEVED God. (they saw all his miracles. they believe IN GOD.

The children of Israel fell from belief, proven by the fact, they stopped believing he could do anything (feed them, give them water, protect them from the giants in Canaan)

What they NEVER had, is saving FAITH in God.

They believed IN GOD. they NEVER trusted God. proven by their actions, which the author in hebrews was trying to show you

so you trust his boundaries.

But you do not trust him when he says you can KNOW (perfect tense) YOU HAVE eternal life, so you can continue to believe in his name?

If you do not KNOW you have eternal life based on the cross. Your basic foundation of life in Christ is on the sand, the wind will blow. and your foundation will crumble.

Build your foundation on that rock which is christ, Your foundation will never crumble.

Boiled down it's really very simple. It is by faith we are saved, but that
faith needs to be cared
for otherwise it dies. It the same manner as a plant,it needs to be feed, watered and protected otherwise it dies. A dead faith can not save us.
But isn't faith the gift (Php 1:29; 2Pe 1:1; Ac 18:27; Ro 12:3) which accompanies rebirth?

And rebirth is the transformation (metamorphoo) from spiritual death (no Holy Spirit life) to eternal life (Jn 5:24, 6:54) by grace through the gift of faith,
transformation from an enemy of God to an adopted child of God,
as the transformation (metamorphosis) from a caterpillar to a butterfly.

And, as in the natural order, one can't be unborn after they are born,
or cease being an adopted child, for they have the same legal status as a natural child, neither being changeable,
nor can a butterfly return to being a caterpillar.

The gift of faith, which is true faith, does not return to unbelief, anymore than a butterfly returns to being a caterpillar.
What "dies" is counterfeit faith, which had no root of rebirth and falls away in the time of testing (Lk 8:13).
Apostasy from one's profession of faith shows one's faith was counterfeit (1Jn 2:19).

God's saving gifts of rebirth, faith, repentance, justification/righteousness are irrevocable.
And it is God who uses many ways, including exhortations and warnings, chastisements and trials, to see to it that they are nourished and do grow.
But God's irrevocable gifts cannot "die" and return to unbelief, as the butterfly cannot return to its former state.

Exactly right. The Lord delivered His people (the Israelites) out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. God had revealed Himself to these Israelites and chosen them as His people (so they were not far away from God), but that does not mean they were ALL saved.

I am not saying that at all. I am saying that none of our actions are the cause of our eternal salvation, but they are the result of already being saved eternally.

The unrighteous will be saved while they continue in their unrighteousness?

And to take it further in the parable can you find one place where Jesus says that after the son REJECTED the Father that the Father ever sees the son as being alive WHILE he is in rejection of the Father,or was it that the Father didn't see the son as being ALIVE until the moment of his return to the Father?
If the son is an example of eternal security, then he is also an example that the Christian can go out and spend his money on harlots as the son and still remain saved....a license to sin.

A son may still be son,but a DEAD SON IS STILL A DEAD SON. And a DEAD SON HAS NO LIFE. The question NOT whether the son is a son or not,the REAL question is the son DEAD or ALIVE.

Yes.

The son was dead and is alive AGAIN. He must have been alive before in order to be alive again, so the son went from being spiritually alive to spiritually dead to spiritually alive AGAIN.

and here is where the point gets missed: a truly saved person would not want to because of the new heart and renewed mind. there are people who profess to be Christians and are not, as Christ him self said.

God justifies the unrighteous (Ro 4:5) with his gift of righteousness/justification (Ro 4:17),
which causes them to discontinue their unrighteousness.

Those who habitually practice unrighteousness show that they have never been justified (declared "not guilty," by grace through the gifts of faith--Php 1:29; 2Pe 1:1; Ac 18:27; Ro 12:3 and repentance--2Tim 2:25; Ac 11:18, 5:31), sin forgiven, which is salvation (Lk 1:77).

Rom 11:20 the Jews were broken off due to unbelief YET they could be graffed in AGAIN if they abide not in unbelief, v23. Just as the prodigal was alive again.

Even the Gentiles that were graffed in because of their belief could also be cut off, v22

You cannot have it both ways.

On one hand, some here want salvation to be UNconditonal.

On the other hand these same people that want salvation to be UNconditional say the Christian must CONDITIONALLY live a certain type of life-syle free from sinning.

If salvation is truly UNcondtionally then the Christian can UNconditionally do as he pleases as the son in spending money on harlots.

You cannot have salvation be UNconditional yet at the same time claim what the Christian does or wants must be conditional.

Lastly, since the son went out and spent his money on harlots,
you say the truly saved would not want to do such,
then are you suggesting the son was never truly saved?

by the way seabass, I actually use the Bible as a whole to back up my theology, not just pluck verses to back up a pro- law agenda.

1 Cor 6:9 says the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God.

What verse says God will justify those that continue to live in unrighteousness without them having to do any righteousness at all?

The statement was made "that none of our actions are the cause of our eternal salvation".

If your actions have nothing to do with you being saved, then you would be claiming you can be saved while continuing to live in unrighteousness. And if one can be saved while continuing in unrighteousness, then there is no reason to think he cannot remain saved while still continuing to live in unrighteousness. One could live in unrighteousness his whole life and be saved.

So what did the father mean when he said "thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found"?

How could the son be alive AGAIN if he was NEVER alive BEFORE?

The son must have been with the father (alive) then left the father (dead) then came back to the father (alive again).
