I propose an experiment.

You should move to Egypt, or France. Set up residence there. Then call yourself Egyptian or French to the local population, and see how they react. *smirk*

This will probably seem silly to some and it might be nothing, but this thread, while seemingly harmless, might actually be dangerous because by stating the things that you love more than Jesus you are actually putting yourself in danger of breaking your word if one day you demonstrate that you love those things more than Jesus.

You shall be careful to do what has passed your lips, for you have voluntarily vowed to the LORD your God what you have promised with your mouth. - (Deut. 23:23 ESV)

If you make a vow to the LORD your God, you shall not delay fulfilling it, for the LORD your God will surely require it of you, and you will be guilty of sin. But if you refrain from vowing, you will not be guilty of sin. - (Deut. 23:21-22 ESV)

well, out of the fullness of the heart, the mouth speaks (matt 12:34). if people are posting about things they love more than Jesus, and are making a liar of themselves by stating they love Jesus more, i'd say their problem is much bigger than a tongue-in-cheek thread.

thankfully, i don't think any of these humorously referenced things are at risk of exposing anyone's idolatry. : )

Hold up.

Maybe I'm missing the meaning of the original title of the thread but I thought it was about what we love JESUS "more than"... So in other words, we're listing things we love LESS than Jesus, not more than Him... and are affirming that oure love for Him is GREATER than for all these other things.

And, it's a personal statement, so we certainly aren't accusing anyone else of loving anything more than Jesus themselves.

Ok Zero, please go ahead and enlighten me :), because I read your post 3 times before I posted and read it again twice, and I'm still not sure what you're saying... I'm confused because the point of the thread is to state what we love Jesus more than other things, but your post is about us stating what we love more than Jesus, when that's not what we're doing here?

I've been working a lot of odd hours... My brain probably just needs a little kickstart, please. :)
