I love to make friends and my friend number goes up and down, not because I am deleting them, I only delete banned people, so if the number goes down someone decided I must be unfriend worthy I suppose. It's o.k. I don't get upset about it as new people join everyday and there are still around 8 billion people on the planet so I guess one or two of them will end up being my friend.

Truly I do like making CC friends and it is my only trolling problem I have in that I admittedly troll for friends. Making as many friend requests as possible. If you aren't my friend now at some point you will probably get a friend request as you are a friend I just haven't met yet.

I looked at your friend's list the other day. at least half of it is people who have banned so you need to clean your list better..lol..

i wouldn't worry too much about it either.

i will pretty much accept every friend request i get, but do confess that i often un-friend people for a pretty simple reason -they post a ton and their posts obscure and eclipse most of the friends' posts.

now, i don't mind the "posting a ton" if they are posting things i enjoy reading about. but if they post a ton about things i prefer to skip, generally my unfriending isn't personal. it's purely for the benefit of my reading and convenience.

Oh! really? :p

Excuse me for having been a dark umbrella and for having disturbed anything in your life, Mónica.

When you sent me that "friend" request I said "Yes!" "Why not?" Having no prejudice or any thought of being "unfriended" for whatever polite and unpersonal reason like those U mentioned so, afterwards what I felt, I understood this was SOMETHING like a "reward system" working on I wasn't aware of, because I came here not seeking people's approval (neither their disapprovals or claps).

:P

Again!

I just discovered something I didn't know. If you accept someone's "friend" request, you automatically show up on their profile.... without ever sending them a request.

Not on your friend's list.png

This one is appropriate for this thread lol

(hopes no one catches I mispelled friend on that pic) lol

Okay I am kidding,
I dont accept cyber friendships I decline them, just for the record lol

Ha! Ha! :D

At least it wasn't saying:

"Let's be FIENDS"

I made that when I was posting at another forum and a friend of mine was mad and deleted me as a friend rofl!

I was just being a smart butt and left the pic on his personal visiting page, then I thought, this cyber friend stuff is for the birds and decided no lasting friends ever come of these toy friend clicks, so I gave them up for lent and never looked back.

Just kidding about the lent

Believed or not, unfriending is an issue!

When I used faKebook they sent me things "to know" who unfriended me and those things.

I have seen several kids regretting being left and ignored, even in the adulthood I can laughed at unpolitely.

This issue reminded me of a girl I saw calling "friends" on her phone: She tried to wonder why no one sent her a note or a simple "Hello" or a "Good Morning" that day.

She thought she was alone, she felt hopeless and all alone. Soon after, she sent several text messages to several other "friends", on her way the subway.

Mad Parrot hit a nail on this good thread she created.

Thanks M@d P.!

I dont understand the whole big deal with the cyber friend thing, people having walls of thousands of fake friends who arent really your friends. Its like some folks collect them out of some strange sense of insecurity to appear to their on line world as though they have a bunch of them who they probably dont ever talk to. Like theres no point to it.

To me its a farce, someone is not your friend because they know you after a handful of posts and send you a request to be your freind much like placing an order for something. Just because you double clicked their name into your friend box doesnt make them a true friend of yours but a cyber (toy) friend (for the larger part).

I just cant give any validity at all to such friendships.

Best to not have any then worry about someone unclicking ya lol

That's a lot of assuming about people. I'm pretty sure that each single person here has different things in mind about their friends list and a different take on it.

What would Jesus say about being cyber friends, he is typically great about putting things into perspective for us.

He would tell us not to judge another servant of His.
I'm honest about all people I have on my friends list. I'm completely true to what this means to me. I'm their friend in Jesus, meaning I pray for them and desire the best for them. Yet you judge me and others because we dont think like you. I honor God with my friends list and do what I'm doing unto God.

@ Soul

"...I pray for them and desire the best for them...."

That reminds me that part of the movie "Facing the Giants" where a man was praying and touching the lockers of that team which won, at last...

Thanks for knowing (too well) what a teammate is!

I cant possibly know who is a servant of Jesus Christ to even judge a servant of Jesus Christ by such toys at all.

I certainly cannot judge anyone by their friends (in truth) anyway because I would have to validate that they mean something to me in order to actually do that. But they dont (not to me) I refuse to validate the cyber toy "click into" a friend thing. Thats all.

Someone else might see true friend in the thing but I dont.

Our Lord said dont judge by appearances and the use of the same shows nothing valid at all except that someone else feels they are valid in someway I have yet in ten years online figured out what that is.

I did not receive one single friend invite on either board accompanied by anyone who gave a hoot to get to know me (as the fake freind request sent might seem to imply). Thats all. Over a ten year period of time, I am certain its just for appearances, nothing more, its pretentious. They should should change it and I might adopt it, if it said, online aquaintances, because seriously... its not AS IF anyone really cared to be your friend. They might like to believe that that was some extra mile thing done on their part and if it makes them feel better (thats fine). So I had not known one person that cared beyond that click which was supposed to make us (somehow) "instant friends" who actually hung around to get to know me (or desired to) the exception to any of that is actually Reborn (who is not on my list as a cyber friend) as if it mattered because if I had 20 cyber friends he has been more of a friend without it (or the appearances of something saying friend somewhere).

Im just saying, and Im not blaming anyone else for not wanting to get to know me either, dont get me wrong, I dont care about that, because I know there is way too much small talk and having too much of that just drains me.

And I get it, I am not to judge my brothers and sisters but Im just saying it is superficial nonsense, its just a toy.... You got mail... You got friend...So someone might appear to have a box full of freinds or not (per their little clicky thing) which is great if that person is your REAL friend, the thing is they ought to be whether you clicked them into your friend box (or not) its a superficial way to count friends, or judge someones multitude or lack of the same. It just means nothing in the whole scheme of friendships and online is notorious for walls full of strangers.

I am honest about the people I have in my friends list also (meaning zero) because I dont believe having those I am friends with in there would make you anymore my freind, but would be just me and you playing with a toy. Anything over and above that first click (so to speak) over a period of time might make us better aquainted with one another as brother and sister and better friends sure, but not by such superficial means by themselves.

I dont esteem a click to add a friend as either valuable or valid, I cant see Jesus esteeming it as something valuable or valid in the whole scheme of things either.

Jesus, any moment said, something like this: "Whomever comes to me, I do not reject..."

Within some minutes I can find the quote "where" He said that, meaning -probably- frindship is important and, If I invited someone to come in, as a guest, into my life, I'm responsible, as long as she / he leaves the seat I offered. To me, it doesn't matter who he /she was: I invited that person into a fellowship (or a virtual fellowship) I must be responsible.

When I understood the "reward" system was working on, I swiched myself to "protective" mode and, when I "deleted" those I had as friends, it was to avoid that impolite behaviour I felt, because I'm impolite and not a bootlicker.

Those I liked, like Biscuit, Praus, WW and several others, went away, so I changed.

This is what I normally think of, whenever a person came (into my life) (or virtually approached):

Joh 6:37 Everything and everyone that the Father has given me will come to me, and I won't turn any of them away.

Joh 6:37 Whatever the Father gives to me will come to me; and I will not send away anyone who comes to me.

Joh 6:37 The Father gives me my people. Every one of them will come to me. I will always accept them.

Needless to say if I saw a married woman...

Surely Jesus wouldnt email back

John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Anyway, if I offended anyone who takes these things seriously I apollogize being almost 50 years old and others my age and much older grew up in a generation who didnt click things like they do today.

I would have thought the young adults (like those in the teens forums ) would be those who might give these toys a tad more weight then some of the older here ( realizing our youth has grown up on all things cyber).

Virtual verses actual friends

A virtual can be an actual friend , and an actual friend a virtual one as well.

What counts is that a freind is an "actual" (not that they are a virtually acknowledged friend)

A virtual (only) friend will never be there (in other ways) for you when you (actually) need them.

At least no more then just words.

But if your virtuals are all there when you need (and you them) thats great, lucky you (especially if it goes both ways between you) you are blessed. Rejoice in the friendship, not in the abused cyber friend feature (because that matters nothing between actual friends anyway)

I am honesty an shocked anyone takes the invite features seriously

There are so many postings and youtube videos that seem to be right on about the whole freinds walls at facebook, the abuse of the same, the walls of strangers pretending to be freinds, the crocodile tears over giving it any merit, the how to videos on get so many friend invites in a day, friend collectors, people boo hooing over the ridiculous in realition to the same. I wouldnt know personally because I dont have a facebook account I never made one because I didnt trust doing that for some reason.

So to anyone who takes these features seriously I do apologize if I have offended

DH, you do seem to be taking it more seriously than everybody here with expounding this case, even "WWJD". :)

An invite is an invite, I take it as an expression of well wishes in a certain way, and I do not require more of anybody, all of us have limited resources of time and energy, but if someone actually needs help, they know they are free to email me here. That's among other things what these lists are for, I believe... maybe you had bad experience but I actually do have online friends that are there for me even for years, and otherwise. And that being said, you speak as if "RL" friends are always there... :)

If friends lists offend you and it's wrong in your understanding, just do as led and leave others alone and you're cool...
