So, in your own words....what are you saying? Dogs go downward?
If we look at the book of Ecclesiastics we find it was written during a time when Solomon was away from God, indulging in fleshly desires and every endeavor known to man. He married pagan wives who turned his heart away from God and he descended into a life of sin and rebellion against God. The book of Ecclesiastics records his findings during those dark years he was apart from God. It describes Solomon's search for the meaning of life apart from divine revelation. His conclusion was that life was vanity - empty, purposeless. This book shows the absurdity of man's attempt to be happy without God. God showed Solomon, known to the world as the wisest man, now to be a fool. Most of what Solomon says is inspired by human wisdom and philosophy and NOT inspired of God. The Word records many mistakes of historical people but they are in no way to be used as how to walk before God but rather they are there to show us how NOT to walk before God. The conclusion we can draw from this book is that if the wisest man on earth could not find fulfillment in all the things he ran after what chance do we have today? "There is nothing new under the sun...all is vanity"

The Injustices of Life
[SUP]16 [/SUP]I also noticed that under the sun there is evil in the courtroom. Yes, even the courts of law are corrupt! [SUP]17 [/SUP]I said to myself, “In due season God will judge everyone, both good and bad, for all their deeds.”
[SUP]18 [/SUP]I also thought about the human condition—how God proves to people that they are like animals. [SUP]19 [/SUP]For people and animals share the same fate—both breathe[SUP][a][/SUP] and both must die. So people have no real advantage over the animals. How meaningless! [SUP]20 [/SUP]Both go to the same place—they came from dust and they return to dust. [SUP]21 [/SUP]For who can prove that the human spirit goes up and the spirit of animals goes down into the earth? [SUP]22 [/SUP]So I saw that there is nothing better for people than to be happy in their work. That is our lot in life. And no one can bring us back to see what happens after we die.
(Ecclesiastes 3:18-22)

[SUP]21 [/SUP]For who can prove that the human spirit goes up and the spirit of animals goes down into the earth?

These are the recorded words of King Solomon during his rebellious time away from God. Who can blame him for being depressed? The man was searching and found nothing to satisfy himself without God. God did not say animals only go down into the earth. That was Solomon's depressed conclusion because at that point what did anything matter. It was all vanity.

Someone mentioned about giving the gospel to all creation - this does NOT include animals.

And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone."
Mark 16:15

Animals have no sin that's why they were able to be used in the atonement of some sins. Hence the Lamb of God who knew NO sin, the final and greater sacrifice who took away EVERY sin.

In my own words -
If God saved animals in the Ark, that tells us something about how He feels towards them. God created them - He saw that they were good and pleasing - He delighted in His creation. So if a pet is precious to us, then that alone tells me God loves that animal too. We had a dog that was severely bitten by another dog, it got all infected so I prayed over that dog offering him up in saying that God had designed him so He knew how he needed to be healed. We took him to a military vet and the vet helped him heal. Medical Knowledge is from God. So I truly feel God used that knowledge through the vet to heal my dog. God cares about what we care about. Besides a child or another person, what could be more precious than a beloved pet? When people talk about a 'rainbow bridge', I'm thinking that might not be far from the truth. It could very well be an inspiration of the Spirit that they just don't quite have all the details about, or pieces to the puzzle, so they fill in the gaps. I know that God is a generous God and He always saves the best for last. One of those things might be to reunite us with long lost pets that He gave us to love on earth. This is not scripture. These are only my heart thoughts.

Personal thoughts to you -
Wishing you peace and fond memories of your sweet doggy. The homesickness for them will get easier but we all know that who have owned pets. But we never stop missing them especially if they have a really special place in our hearts. Please know I understand and I care about your loss as you move through this raw time when the loss is still new.

All I can say is, Wow...with tears streaming down my face. That is the most heartfelt words I have heard since he was passed and you have given me peace, such peace that I can move on. Thank you so much for your scripture and words, they mean more to me than you will know. I have peace. Thank you for understanding and I am at such peace that I do not think this needs to go any further....God Bless You.

How sweet. :) But I would guess it might be ALL the wonderful thoughts along this thread reaching out that helped.

Are you thinking of getting any new pets or do you have other pets already?

Most everybody was very supportive and I appreciate the time that they took to reach out and give scripture and support. I am not a drama queen, but this dog was special. We all say that about our pets :) I have another dog I adopted 6 years ago and she is getting old and her hips are bad so she will be next, soon. But, your words will get me through the next and I am going to copy and paste it so I can read it again. Thank you all so much....that is what Christians do, support unconditionally and pray for one another.

And, no more pets...I can't go through this anymore. This is the 4th time and waiting for the 5th and it is enough.

Paul said that all creation groans for redemption... Jesus said if He quieted the humans, the rocks would cry out. All creation has life, and will be redeemed. God's promises to the lion and the lamb apply to the pooches and kitties too.

It is my personal opinion that all animals go to heaven. God created them and gave them a soul. I think that heaven would not be complete without animals. :)
This is a beautiful thought. :D I think so too.

When I first read the Word, I saw that He was going to destroy the earth. And I thought, Nuuuuu, not the beautiful earth! I love His creation. And then...I read He was going to make a new earth. So I thought, Yeah, God! And what would an earth be without animals? So whether they are here or there, it's gonna be good.

That is a point a lot of people miss, and not necessarily on just this subject.

Actually, when God inspired Solomon to write that the spirit of animals went downward, I believe God was saying that they were going down into Abraham's Bosom. This place is also known as Paradise as Jesus called it (When speaking with the thief on the cross). It is mentioned in the real life account of Lazarus and the Rich man (Luke 16:19-31). A paradise like place that is in the heart of the Earth that is a temporary holding place for the saints until they are Raptured up into Heaven to be married to Christ (i.e. For the Dead in Christ shall rise first - 1 Thessalonians 4:16.). As for the spirit of man going upward: Well, it makes no mention if this is a believer or not, so this probably some type of cursory preliminary Judgment and or type of meeting with God. For the Scriptures say, the spirit returns to God in whom gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7).

Side Note:

Oh, and I don't believe the Richman was tortured in flames --- if anyone is wondering. I believe the Richman was tormented (not tortured) as the Scriptures say. He was tormented by the heat of the flame that was in front of him that was coming fromt he great gulf between him and Abraham.

The Scripture says they eagerly wait for the MANIFESTATIONS of the sons of God (i.e. believers). Meaning, they are awaiting for believers to be bodily resurrected in the future so they can be with man again in such a way like it was back in the Garden. So yes, I believe that either you will be reunited with all your beloved pets that you used to have and or you will have a ton of new animal friends.

Not Biblical friend but you can have your own opinion on this.

How does the creature eagerly await the manifestation of the sons of God then? How else would one interpret that verse?
Hi MsLimpet, I am sorry for your loss.

If we are approaching this from a Biblical point of view we know that humans have a body, soul and spirit but that animals are only body and soul. We also need Salvation while our pets are doing whatever they do . If we think about it carefully we will discover that animals will not go to heaven but there will be animals present in heaven.
What verse are you referring too in your post Jason?

My bad. I thought you would have recognized the Scripture reference I had made and Googled it. But here it is, if you want to check it out, my friend.

Romans 8:19

Note: The link above will take you to Biblehub's Parallel Translations for that verse.

Dear GTW:

I also like your avatar. It reminds me of the verses I have been going over from a Pastor I have been watching lately. You can check out one my favorite videos by him here (If you are interested):

can Christians be perfect | how to stop sinning

Powerful stuff.

Anyways, may God bless you.
And please be well.

Sincerely,

~ Jason.

God always intended us to be loving and kind (even to animals).

Proverbs 12:10
A righteous
man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

And animals will definitely be in God's Kingdom and be our friends (for sure)!

  • Isaiah 11:6, "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them."

  • Isaiah 11:7-9, "The cow and the bear shall graze; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea"

  • Isaiah 65:25, "The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD."

Anyways, may God bless you all today.
And please be well.

Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth? Ecclesiastes 3 The Word declares that the spirits of animals go downwards at physical death... I know many want to believe they go to Heaven the Word tells us they go downward... animals dont have 'souls'.. those who think they do.. are probably dealing with 'familiar spirits' or devils that can possess animals.. at times.. We know from Scriptural evidence 'devils' can move in and out of animals.. from the Testimony of the devils that entered the Swine and ran off the cliff.. after Jesus told them to Go to the pigs and they were relieved He didnt command them to the Abyss. a PLACE they did not want to go.. familiar spirits (devils) can manifest themselves in animals and even your pets!!!

The Scriptures say that all life has a soul (Job 12:10 KJV) and that animals will one day be manifested to be with the sons of God (Romans 8:19, 20,21, 22) (Pay close attention to verse 21). In Ecclesiastes 3, the animal's spirit was going down into Abraham's Bosom (See Luke 16:19-31), while the spirit of man was going upward to return to God in whom he gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7).

i agree with you Jason God created all life, is the Source of all life, and all things with life in them return to God including pets.

Animals do not have souls.. sorry .....if they Did. then Christ went to the Bloody Tree. not only to 'die' for lost soul of a person.. but of animals also. I find now where in the Word of God that says Jesus the Christ , died for the soul of an animal.. sorry.. man likes to pull God down to his/her level and tell Him how He is suppose to act.. even using the Word of God to twist and turn His Arm.. Not gonna Happen.. Appeasement at the Tree was for lost man.. body soul and spirit.. not animals. ANIMALS do not have souls.. but are made up of flesh/bone (animals) those types differ .. and a spirit which is the life/breathe in them.. sorry..

Job 12:10 says anmals have souls. You either believe that verse or you don't believe it. It's your choice.
