You must be very young. God did warn. Read the law. He doesn't use the word "parasite," and he tends to mention specific diseases (gives a long dissertation on literacy), but it's in there way before Man knew it existed. Have you read the Bible through yet? Your questions are so basic it sounds like you haven't.Sorry, let me preface my back story. I am young. I don't understand why the bible wouldn't warn people of parasites and other diseases. Besides these outdated things, I don't know understand certain biblical teachings. I can go into greater detail if you'd like. I raise these questions during bible study at church but i get frowned upon.
Don't count on church Bible study as your education. (They're like picking up electives outside your field of choice in college -- fun to learn, but not your meat and potatoes.) You're supposed to be doing your own studying. Go to Esword.net, and start downloading. Pick Bible versions you like, make sure you have at least five, and make sure one of them is KJV+. No, I'm not big on KJV, but a man named Strong gave us a Bible aid that requires KJV, since that's what he used. The Bible aid is called a concordance. A concordance tells you what every English word in the KJV means -- original word, language, what it looked like, all possible definitions, and where it shows up in the Bible. I also recommend interlinear, since that covers other locations.
Then download some aids. I recommend (and the order is only from the way they show up in my ESword) Albert Barnes' Notes on the Bible, Adam Clarke's Commentary on the Bible, John Gill's Exposition on the Whole Bible, Jamieson, Fasset and Brown Commentary, Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary, Robert's Picture Words, Vine's Expository, Treasury of Scriptural Knowledge, Strong's Concordance, Easton's Bible Dictionary, Faussett's Bible Dictionary (aren't you glad this is all free. Hubby paid for the printed versions decades ago and they're very expensive lol), International Standards Bible Encyclopedia, and Webster's 1828 dictionary, simply because most of the commentators were alive so long ago that they use words that aren't used anymore. (Also, be glad it's not hubby's list of recommended downloads. He's smarter than I am, so this list goes four times longer, if it were him. lol)
Then spend a couple of hours downloading the program and the books. (At least that's how long it took me, but I'm not a natural on a computer. I grew up on typewriters. lol) Then start studying the book yourself.
You haven't lost your faith. You're just young enough to assume others are supposed to put in the effort for you. Stop assuming that and you'll be fine. God's bigger than you can imagine. Dare to ask the big questions, but be willing to search for his answers in his word. It's either in there, or he didn't think it was important enough for us to know. (Parasites -- important. Unicorns can't be answered. It's in there but what does it mean?)
