i survived high school by spending as little time there as i possibly could. 
i was blessed in that i could call my mom at work and say,
i can't take it here one more minute; i want to walk into town to the library!
if i didn't have a test upcoming, she told me to go for it.
so i did, and sat in the lovely quiet looking at books about art and history
and classic novels (but not Tolstoy--no time! ).
i wonder how much more i learned there than at school?

I liked school, but only for certain classes... and for lunch. That's it. I had shorter days my Senior year which was a godsend... but for the most part, my friends were what made school tolerable...
And go figure, If I was the Senior.... my closest friend were usually a grade below me, Cause I was the friendliest senior there.
