These blessings are not acquired by the works of the law minus the faith that must come first. We must desire the mind of Christ first because we see the truth in Him. He promises the blessings of giving when we seek and knock. Our works to receive blessings doesn't work. What works is having the very character of Jesus instilled into our heart, soul, and mind, and it becomes His working instead of our works. Things begin to click the right way when the right priorities are established by God's perfection, and all things fall into their proper place according to His will, and onward we go with Him and His yoke!!

As any sincere person who has ever truly fallen in love with another knows, a love relationship flows both ways, otherwise it fails. We are wonderfully made, unlike anything else in creation, to reciprocate with sincerity, and contribute to the love relationship which God started, and “we love him, because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19) The blessings from God are conditional then, depending on our response to His loving nature.

Deuteronomy 28:1-2
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

We are blessed if we reject making a god in our own image. We are not to make God Almighty, or His Son Jesus Christ into a god that we prefer. That appears to be the summary and the basis of receiving God's blessings as Deuteronomy 28:14 states.

“And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.”

Taking one verse at a time, I will begin with Deuteronomy 28:3 of listed blessings in the law given to Moses, and present related scriptures of blessing from the entire Word of God. Please contribute with scripture and your thoughts of these blessings listed in Deuteronomy 28:3-13.

Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.” (Deuteronomy 28:3)

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

After 5 hours, it appears to me that people are more tunned into the curses rather than the blessing. How 'bout that?

In my travels I've found many people believe the law itself was the curse, which could explain the silence. :)

That's exactly what I was thinking. It's too bad there is such a negative outlook on certain aspects of God's Word.

Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

How can a person do the commandments but not work at the law?

What you don't understand is that all the blessings that are contained in the Law are given to us in Christ, by His Grace. Not by our obedience to the Law but by Faith in Christ.

Ephesians 2:4-6
[SUP]4 [/SUP]But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
[SUP]6 [/SUP]And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Compare that with the verse in Deuteronomy 28:1
Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

Do you see? Do you see how we are blessed in Christ and not by our work at the law?

God has set us on high above all the nations of the earth, in Christ. Not by our work that we have done. By the work that Christ has done.

Exo 16:4 Then said Jehovah unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you;
and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may prove them,
whether they will walk in my law, or not.

God considered it a gift: “See, for that the [Eternal]hath given you the sabbath …”

Exo 13:9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes,
that the LORD'S law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.

Exo 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD
made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

Eze 20:12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them,
that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.

Deu 6:8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand,
and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
Deu 6:9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

“If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day;
and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the [Eternal],honourable; and shalt honour him,
not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words”
(Isaiah 58:13)

“Then shalt thou delight thyself in the [Eternal]; and I will cause thee to ride upon
the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father:
for the mouth of the [Eternal] hath spoken it”

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

These blessings in Deuteronomy 28:3-13 are a foreshadowing promised to Israel ( the Jew) first. Are Christ's commandments different than His own Father's? No

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Romans 1:16

It is true that the Commandments of Christ are the same as His Father's. I re-edited my post while you were making your post and quoting what I wasn't done with yet.
Take another look at post 7.

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. John 12:49

You are so right for the law is holy and good for sure. The law not only shows us that we need Christ, it also shows us the perfection in the Father and the Son. It shows us how to love our neighbor in detail and how to respond to the love that God has for us. Where would we be without His precise instructions?

"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit." Romans 8:5

I thought is necessary to set the precedence again by quoting the first part of the OP and clarify that this is not a "ya better abide by the law" thread. So I invite positive feedback, not assumptions of predetermined motives of another that cause argument and superfluous rhetoric minus any edification . Thanks.

For Christ is the End of the Law for Righteousness to every one that believeth.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

still trying to be Justified by the Law? for Righteousness? you have fallen from Grace, or were never in Christ to begin with,

the Just shall live by Faith not the works of the Law. His True Circumcision are those who Trust and have Faith in His completed Work at the Tree , worship God in Spirit and have no CONFIDENCE in the flesh.. outside the Law. Christ has fulfilled the lAW for His Own... all the Blessings and Promises of God are FOUND IN Christ, and are Attained thru Christ by Faith in Him... so very very simple.. some minds are so beguiled by the serpent, the Simplicity of the Gospel! Christ Crucified!

[SUP]Deuteronomy 28:4-5
4 [/SUP]Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.

God is the source of all spiritual blessings. As the apostle expounds the spiritual benefits of being in Christ in Ephesians 1:3-14, he relates these blessings to the nature of God. God blesses because of who he is.

Bible-loving Christians half a century ago were repulsed by certain gross manifestations of religious flesh on the part of some of the very ones who laid claim to the most exalted spiritual experiences, and as a result fled from wild fire to deep freeze. Bible teachers became afraid to admit the validity of the religious sympathies. The text became the test of orthodoxy, and Fundamentalism, the most influential school of evangelical Christianity, went over to textualism. The inner life was neglected in a constant preoccupation with the "truth," and truth was interpreted to mean doctrinal truth only. No other meaning of the word was allowed. Objectivism had won, The human heart cowered in its cold cellar, ashamed to show its face.

As might have been foreseen, this resulted in a steady decline in the quality of Christian worship on the one hand and, on the other, the rise of religious entertainment as a source of mental pleasure. Wise leaders should have known that the human heart cannot exist in a vacuum. If men do not have joy in their hearts they will seek it somewhere else. If Christians are forbidden to enjoy the wine of the Spirit they will turn to the wine of the flesh for enjoyment. And that is exactly what fundamental Christianity (as well as the so-called "full gospel" groups) has done in the last quarter century. God's people have turned to the amusements of the world to try to squeeze a bit of juice out of them for the relief of their dry and joyless hearts. "Gospel" boogie singing now furnishes for many persons the only religious joy they know. Others wipe their eyes tenderly over "gospel" movies, and a countless number of amusements flourish everywhere, paid for by the consecrated tithes of persons who ought to know better. Our teachers took away our right to be happy in God and the human heart wreaked its terrible vengeance by going on a fleshly binge from which the evangelical Church will not soon recover, if indeed it ever does.

The human heart with its divine capacity for holy pleasure must no longer be allowed to remain the victim of fear and bad teaching. Christ died for our hearts and the Holy Spirit wants to come and satisfy them.

Let us emulate Isaac and open again the wells our fathers digged and which have been stopped up by the enemy. The waters are there, cool, sweet and satisfying.

You're preaching to the choir my friend. Jesus has for sure finished and completed the law. The Son of man's work was finished at His death on the cross, but He's commin' back as a King! That promise is a blessing for sure. Some people won't like it though because they will say they did all kinds of good religious things, and Jesus will say "depart from me you that work inequity, for I never knew you."

Do you have anything to contribute concerning the blessings of God listed in Deuteronomy chapter 28, verses 2 through 13?

Blessings in Serving God:

Deuteronomy 13:4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Joshua 22:5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Exodus 23:25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

Deuteronomy 10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
Deuteronomy 10:13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

Deuteronomy 11:13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
Deuteronomy 11:14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
Deuteronomy 11:15 And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.

1 Samuel 12:20 And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart;
1 Samuel 12:21 And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.
1 Samuel 12:22 For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.

Psalms 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Psalms 100:2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Psalms 100:3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

John 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

For Christ is the End of the Law for Righteousness to every one that believeth.
yes, the culmination and completion!
For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them.
But the righteousness based on faith says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).
But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him.
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

(Romans 10:5-13)

because by the law, we could not escape the curse, He has become our obedience, to become our righteousness by faith in Him - in His faithfulness towards us who hope in Him - so that the blessings of these, being His, can be ours, given freely in grace, if we are found in Him - and we are found in Him by believing, trusting, and clinging to Him as our hope -- because of His love for us -- to show the greatness of His mercy!!
