I think one thing that could put us on the right track is to stop emphazing that a collage education is necessary.
All this does is lead most young people into a huge dept they can never pay and no jobs.
Turn our high schools in to trade and tech schools that teach kids skills that can be used when they graduate.
When I was in school 50 plus years ago, we were taught practical skills that made us ready for the workforce.
I learned welding, electrical wiring, carpentry, how to read blue prints, simple auto repairs ETC while still in high school.
I had several different direction I could go when I went looking for a job.
I know that collage is necessary for some jobs, but most young people would be better off learning a practical trade.
Just raising the min wage is not the answer because it will only encourage some to be satisifed to stay where they are and will not work hard, learn, be productive so they can advance to better paying jobs.
I believe the problem we have today started when we began to encourage everyone to go to collage, stopped teaching practical skill, and failling those students who would not learn while in high school.
This would not solve the problem today, but would lead to a better siruation in the furture.
Maybe we should require those who are on any form of government assistance to go back to school and pass every class or cut them off.
