..... dcon, just a

post-it-note
....

when you do give advice, i do or may take it to heart and to prayer to Jesus, as I learned a long long time ago to

listen to others whether I know them or not, young or old, strangers even that might be "sent by God" to tell me

something ,

yes, take everything in prayer , to consider if it might be so.... and hopefully learn if it is, without needing a bop on the head.....(or something more! )

as God corrects us through many we meet in our lives.... subject always and finally to HIS WORD , but often

a word through others is meant for our edukation.... may we never need a donkey to speak out loud!!!! (but if so, praise GOD for HIS MERCY AND HIS GRACE in warning us/ caring for us! )
I hear you and I agree......I weigh it all by prayer and the word....if it does not jive...I chunk it.....if it jives I try to incorporate it and be mindful of it...do I fail...you bet, but I keep putting one foot in front of the other for sure........!

Ummm...I think once you have been here a while you will get the jest of the post...and since when does posting the word of God in context miss the point....ALL scripture is inspired and PROFITABLE including the words of JESUS......!
hopefully.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
there's heretics here for several years who have not "got it" yet.

footnote: i think you meant "gist" instead of "jest" but all is good !
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"when does posting the word of God in context miss the point" ??? >>
anytime a rcc catholic is involved( (officially) they have altogether DIFFERENT and OPPOSED meanings for EVERYTHING , contrary to GOD'S WORD/TRUTH/JESUS.)

Jesus clearly stated that there is NONE GOOD but God.....God inspired the following thoughts and truths....

1. None Good...no not one<--Romans
2. All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags and our iniquities like the wind have taken us away<--Isaiah
3. If we say we have no SIN, we are deceived and the truth is not in us<--1st John
4. There is not a just man upon the earth that does good and sins not<--Ecclesiastes

Many godly men of the bible committed horrific sins and or sinned after being saved as the bible records...

1. David a man after God's own heart and mind committed adultery with Bathsheba and had her husband Uriah Killed
2. Peter lied three times when he denied the Lord and used foul language in the process, he also played the hypocrite when it came to socializing with the gentiles and then disassociating when the Jews came around.
3. Abraham was deceptive about his half sister wife to save his own skin
4. Daniel prayed and confessed his sins and associated himself with the sins of his people even though one sin is not recorded about him.
5. Paul towards the end of his life writes that he is the number one chief sinner among men.
6. Noah got rip roaring falling down blind drunk after the flood.
7. Thomas, after walking with the Lord for over three years and having the abilities to work miracles doubted the resurrection.
8. Solomon built temples and groves to idols because of the affiliation with his wives and concubines.
9. Peter was also called Satan once by Jesus for denying that Jesus had to die for the redemption of humanity.

Etc. At the end of the day the bible is clear.....the Pharisees bragged about their own righteousness, claimed how sinless they were and consistently pointed the finger at those around them while denying their own sin. Just because someone is saved does not mean that they will not in a moment of weakness sin....this does not mean that we cannot overcome particular sins and or cease from continual sin. You know....the man who will not even lift his eyes to heaven while beating on his chest and seeking forgiveness of sins is the one who walks away justified before God....not the one who brags and boasts of his righteousness, of being sinless and or makes claims to being righteous at the detriment of others.......

The statements below are applied unto particular sins of the flesh and not to the over all sinfulness of the flesh....
1. Go and sin no more
2. Those who have suffered in the flesh have ceased from sin

For there is NOT a just man upon the earth that does GOOD and SINS NOT<------when this was written there were saved men on the earth and this is as applicable unto them as much as it is applicable unto us!

The spirit that is born of God does NOT sin, is eternally saved, justified and sanctified in Christ positionally.
The flesh that the spirit is housed in is fallen, sinful and dead because of sin

Jesus said it best and proves the conflict that takes place within a true believer.......The Spirit is indeed willing, but the FLESH IS WEAK<----Paul expounds on this, although it is rejected by those who brag and boast of their own righteousness and lack of sin!
Surely no one on CC will disagree with your post.
How could they deny the truth that you have so plainly shown from the word of God.
OH wait, I know one that might!
He will be here shortly.

Amen...casting all your care upon him for he careth for you<---1st Peter 5:7
yes, amen, and HE cares for those with dementia also,

but it is very awkward(for many reasons) trying to help them online,

especially not knowing if they can understand what they read or not,

if they are on debilitating medicine for

debilitating disease, and if they even have any idea what it's all about !

Besides some of the errors in the OP, it presents a problem to those that think Christians cannot/do not sin. It also presents a problem to those that believe Christians do sin yet have eternal security.

I have been told by some that when a person sins (as Judas the apostle; Simon in Acts 8) that their sinning proves they were never really saved to begin with. So when one who is suppose to be a Christian sins (for Christians do sin) then his sinning would also prove he was never really saved to begin with too. So what does a Christian do about his sin when he sins? He cannot "do" something about his sin for that would be a work. And if the Christian is to do something (repent) about his sin that would make his salvation conditional when eternal security says salvation is UNconditional. So the Christian cannot do anything about his sinning.

So we have two extremes:
1) the Christian cannot sin at all
2) the Christian can sin yet does not have to do anything about it (license to sin) supposedly God will just ignore it.

Both of your extremes are not found in the OP which is biblical...maybe if you followed Jesus instead of Alexander Campbell you could identify with the truth!

There are no errors in the OP.

There are, however, great number of errors in your so-called "theology."

Just to set the record straight for others who come by to read your post, because they won't realize, perhaps, you don't have a clue as to what you're talking about.

Amen to that for sure..........at the end of the day the points are clear....we all fail in some form, some fashion, sometime.....not that we choose to live a lifestyle of sin....it amazes me how many will go to the extreme left or even right while rejecting the God given boundaries of the word........

Our bodies are rotting and they smell like sin. Sin oozes from our pours but in Gods great mercy he covers our stench with the blood of His Son.

for the world, obviously. but you don't see that kind of stink nor that kind of behavior in the lives of the faithful believers in Ephesians, etc, in the NT,

nor in the lives of the faithful believers abiding in yahshua in the underground/ persecuted church today.

Phm 1:5
Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;

Phm 1:6
That the communication of thy faith may become effectual
by the acknowledging
of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

The communication of our faith becoming effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing in us in Christ

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Romans 15:14
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren,
that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge,
able also to admonish one another.

Paul was persuaded of them that they were full of goodness too. As it is God who not only c
omforts our hearts, but stablishes us in every good word and work.

There might not be anything good in us (that is to say in the flesh) but there is every good thing which is also in you in Christ Jesus by the Spirit (we are to walk by) so we do not fulfil the lusts of the flesh.

Again many will miss the point...your post is a primo example........the above men were SAVED before they committed the sins they committed and NO WHERE did I say they continued to live a lifestyle of sin.......so let me guess...you never sin, always walk 100% perfect before the Lord 24/7 and are one of the most righteous men on the planet? Yeah ...you bet!

yup...I've tried making that point in several threads now...that airplane can give someone a crew cut and they still won't get it

(pardon ... I'm an artist and I tend to 'see' things in word pictures LOL)

We can only overcome sin and live right as long as we allow the Spirit to lead us,but we are still capable to sin if we desire.Paul said that while he does good, evil is still present with him,and God said there is no good thing that dwells in the flesh, even when saved.

A man approached Jesus and called Him good Master, and Jesus said, why do you call Me good, there is only one that is good, and that is God,which Jesus is saying that He is only doing good because God is causing Him to do good.If Jesus said do not call Him good, but only God,which of course He is speaking as the man Christ Jesus, then we can not act like anything special.
