There is a simple problem here, like most of modern psychology, the bible does not use the language or symbols.
How do you express the deep need all humans have to love their mother and father, no matter how terrible they are to them?
Part of the maturing process is loving the roles, but seeing the weaknesses of your parents and their sin. For some this is forgiving the abuse etc.
What about emotional family set up where the individual just plays a roles, parent, child, adult etc? What about walled off emotion that destructively walks through a person will they deny it effects.
Scripture just gives the bigger framework, the maturity and balance as demonstrated by Jesus. It is for us, His people, to discover and exercise ways to help bring this about. I am sure people can find healing, but I am not so sure the Lords intent is just to make as a working perfect whole, without the slow process of decipleship and ownership of what we are doing and what we have done.
So if someone who is traumatised, shattered can become whole through prayer, Amen.
I have much more problems with a testimony I heared of a woman who was saying the Lord had removed all her defences and she was literally trembling. Now that is not healing, just becoming unbelievably vulnerable. The Lord comes to heal the pain, and show love, so the defences are no longer needed and can be taken down, but the person needs to learn to do this themselves.
The difficulty is some people like all illnesses seem beyond healing, and have to live with their condition. Where the boundaries are comes with experience and humbleness. What you will find with most seriously medicated patients they always want to give up the meds because they are working, but once off go out of control.
Now we have no bible verses for this, but if you know someone in this situation, you know its painful reality, and I would love to believe this could be different, but it has not been.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. phil 4:7
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” psalm 46:10
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 1 cor 13:6-8
