I'm in my 60's. That might explain my conundrum. Who is a hero today? I remember riding the school bus listening to coverage of Alan Shepherd and John Glenn blasting off. Sitting in Comiskey Park not fifty feet away from Mickey Mantle. Walking through Abraham Lincoln's house. Tell me. Who do the young of today have to look up to?

The heros you speak of did great things yes but tell me is that the type of hero you want the younger generation to look up to? these were men ppl of this world, the only hero i can ever consider good enough for me to admire or to look up to is the one who who went through more than any human has every had to for the sake of all ppl.

Jesus is the only hero worthy of my admiration and the only one i would want others to be their hero

I like this! Sadly, I really had to think about it. It certainly does seem that we don't have prime movers of the same nature as past "heroes" in this day and age. I'm not sure whether that's progressive, or the exact opposite.

Personally, I appreciate both the sung and unsung (or, at least, not so sung) heroes; major philanthropists, missionaries, volunteers, firefighters, life guards, military men and women, and so on, as well as those that emerge from great tribulation and don't boast about it.

As far as heroes go, the one constant in any tense (past, present, and future) is Christ.
 
when I was growing up it was people like Police Officers, firefighters, teachers, parents ect....
now it seems to be whoever is cool on tv.

I saw Mickey Mantle smacked one off the right field foul pole for a home run at Tiger Stadium years ago in the eighth inning. Box seats. Tigers still won 5-4.
 
My hero today besides God of course....who is loves creator…...never ending!...but we are talking heroes of flesh? My hero today is someone who loves the breath of his child more than he loves living!....Had I a hero...he would be one who loves more,... than he shows the evil world...yet he hides his beautiful heart in wit. For laughter at times...is Gods gift....of the trampoline..in this evil world......we can bounce up! When evil makes us crash! Had I a hero today...he would be caring for people...the Holy Spirit inside his beautiful heart... would lead him to announce truth!...which no cold hearts would listen!....Yet he cares!...And he loves! If I had a hero today....he would love God, .…children, and light in truth of the Holy Spirit :)....he carries inside him. He would do things loving, for God not for praise!...If I dreamed a hero....in flesh of mankind....that's who he would be,.…if I dreamed a hero I if I knew one.….that is.….:)

my husband is definitely my earthly Hero -
his greatest desire is to walk as his Father in Heaven has expressed in His Word -
not to mention, he has grown into the most wonderful husband any
woman could be blessed with -
his unselfishness still amazes and he has no guile.

I am truly a very blessed mate to a very precious child of God and I thank
my Father in Heaven on a very regular basis for him.
