For the record, it's not desperation, it is DEDICATION. And the reason I keep them active, is the same reason why everyone else keeps theirs active: so that they can post on them without having to look back 20 pages. What's the sense of starting a thread if you're NOT going to keep it active?
actually, there is a very easy way to find the threads that you (or anyone else) has started without wading through pages. if you go to your profile, and look on the left side (under the photo) i believe the third link down says "view threads started".
you should see a list of all the threads you've started, in order from newest to oldest.
in all honesty, i don't know anyone (at least in the singles forum) who continues to post to their thread for the purpose of keeping it active and "on the top page"
when i start threads, i pose questions and interact some, but when the thread dies down, it does so because no one else has interest in participating.What's the sense of starting a thread if you're NOT going to keep it active?
to me, it's only respectful of the forum to allow it to descend in order and fall to the other pages because it is a genuine reflection of the fact that the community is more interested in interacting in other threads and subjects.
if i were to continually bump my thread just to make it appear on the front page, it would be like hijacking the front page, and taking the space away for another newer, or more compelling topic that has greater community interest.
can imagine what would happen if every thread owner started bumping their thread for the reasons you gave?
