I have Jason on ignore, because arguing with Jason accomplishes nothing. Unless you are all doing it for entertainment; I respectfully suggest you do the same. I agree with your positions; but question your stewardship of your time:)
it appears that Jason may be becoming a bit unhinged if you look at some of his posts. For instance blaming space dust on sin.

Dear Chica:

So..... if a serial killer just kills a little over a span of a few years he is not a serial killer? Is he not a serial killer if he does not do it habitually?

John tells us to "sin not" in 1 John 2:1. It means exactly that. John does not say.... "strive not to sin but please know you will forever be a slave to your sin. "

In fact, Jesus condemns the Pharisees in John 8 for saying that if they sin, they are a slave to sin. Jesus is not speaking favorably of them in being a slave to sin. Yet everyone here thinks it is okay to be a slave to sin on some level.

1 Peter 4:1 says they that have suffered in the flesh have ceased from sin.

Galatians 5:24 says they that are Christ's have crucified the affections and lusts.

Jesus says to be ye perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect. The Father is perfect because He is Holy and does not sin.

Scripture says, without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. One is not living holy if they believe they can get away with some kind of pet little sin every once and a while. It doesn't work like that. We are bought and paid for with a price and we are not our own.
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matt.26:41

Hate to break this to you but according to Jesus standard of murder, we are all "serial killers".

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matt.26:41

Jesus said this so that they would be kept from sin. It is in no way admission that the Lord wants a person to sin.

Yes, the Lord recognizes that our flesh is weak and the Spirit is willing. That is why a believer has to take up their cross and deny themself. That is why they are to crucifiy the old man. That is why they that are Christ's have crucified the affections and lusts. They overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of His testimony.

No, not all of us. I do not hate people (especially my brothers or sisters). John said that no murderer has eternal life abiding within them. John then equates hate with murder. John does not say there is another alternative or lifestyle of living for the believer that allows them to hate. He just says that hate is like murder and a no murderer has eternal life abiding in them. For he that does not love does not know God. For God is love. For love is one of the major fruits of the Spirit. It proves if God is living in you or not. For Christ (God) is the source of our salvation (1 John 5:12). Salvation is not a super power. Salvation is abiding in Christ; And Jesus is Holy and good and cannot abide in someone who may continue in willful sin and disobedience against Him.

Jason, no one would be in Heaven then if that were the case EEveryone sins after accepting. And please don't say something like "we're not a slave to it" or anything like that like you have prior in other posts. Judging by what you just said "Strive to be perfect", we are all hell bound then because none of us- including you- are perfect. Going by what you have been saying.
What doesn't make sense to me is that you are not addressing the verses I have brought up. Surely if your belief is correct, then you will have no problem in explaining the verses I posted from your viewpoint.

oh ppsssshhh I NEVER sin! lol I hope you can all feel the sarcasm oozing through your computer or phone screens.
1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies... 14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: 15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet. No, you have things backwards.

For it is written...

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God." (John 3:19-21).

As Christians we still sin, to claim perfection or the ability to be perfect is a disgrace, heresy and undermines the gospel.

I took notes on a John MacArthur sermon a while back, allow me to share the key points with you with you.

First of all it is clear that when we are saved, we are set free from sin.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 6:11 -- '' So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.''

Romans 4:14 -- '' For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.''

Romans 6:17-18 -- ''But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.''

Romans 6:22 -- ''But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life''

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When taken in context (I will present you with the other verses below) Paul is talking about the fact that the power sin hold over us has broken, it no longer dominates out lives and hold dominion over us. Despite this, we still have a battle of the flesh to contend with.

See Below.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 7:24 -- ''Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?''

Romans 7:17 -- ''So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.''

Romans 7:18 -- ''For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.''

Romans 7:20 -- ''Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.''

Romans 7:14 -- ''For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin. For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.''

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So it is clear when all of this is taken in context we should not sin, and we don't want to sin, but we sometimes do, even though we wish we didn't.

With the above scripture in mind, anyone who claims to have attained this state of sinless perfection also claim to be more sanctified than the apostle Paul.

In addition to this, to claim to be sinless you also have two redefine holiness, and redefine sin as the following:

Holiness exists where there are still unconscious, un-willfull and unpremeditated sins. That is a downgraded version of holiness. You also have to redefine sin as willful, premeditated and conscious.

See? Big problem.

Now the issue here is that people are misunderstanding justification and sanctification.

Here are some similarities between justification & sanctification:

1. Both originate and stem from the free sovereign grace of God.

2. Both are parts of Christ's redemptive work of salvation.

3. Both are present in the same person. Any person who has been justified has already been sanctified. Anyone who has been sanctified has already been justified.

4. Both begin simultaneously, the moment of justification is the moment sanctification begins.

5. Both are necessary for glorification, those who have reached heaven have not only been justified, but have also been glorified.

There are also some differences between the two.

1. In justification the sinner is counted righteous because the righteousness of Christ is imputed on his behalf. In sanctification the sinner is actually made internally righteous, though to a limited degree through the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit.

2. The righteousness of justification is not our own, it is Christ's given to us. The righteousness of sanctification is our own though mixed with our failing and imperfections it is wrought in us through the Holy Spirit.

3. Our own works play now part in justification, which is based only on faith. Our works, however, play an important part in sanctification for God commands us by the power of the Holy Spirit to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

4. Justification is an instantaneous and finished work, totally complete the moment the sinner truly believes, sanctification is an imperfect work lasting for the rest of our lives never completed until glorification

5. Justification does not increase, does not develop, and does not grow. The sinner is just as justified at the moment of conversion as he will be when he steps his first foot into heaven. Sanctification is a process that begins and progresses as believers grow in their spiritual walk throughout their Christian lives, ever increasing.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now it is plain to seem, that the fact of the matter is if someone claims to have reaches total sanctification in a state of sinlessness they are indeed very far away from total sanctification. The more sanctified we become, the we sin, but the harder it gets because we grow to hate and reject sin more.

So the sign of sanctification is not acknowledging your righteousness, but in fact acknowledging your sin more
, and hating it more! That is why Paul himself a mature and highly sanctified Christian said in 1 Timothy 1:15 -- ''The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.''

James 3:3 -- ''For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.''

Galatians 5:17 -- ''For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.''

So in a nutshell it's a Spirit Vs Flesh problem.

WE ARE SINNERS. PERIOD. WE ARE NOT GOOD. WHICH IS WHY WE NEED JESUS!

Praise the Lord for my justification in Christ, and sanctification leading me to hate sin, and love the law of God.

Anyone who lives a lifestyle of repentance and sin, is not saved. We stumble, yes (James3:2), but we do not live a lifestyle with sin being our defining characteristic.

I know this has already been covered, but anyone claiming to be without sin is a LIAR, and claims to be greater and more righteous in the eyes of God than Paul ever was at any point.

I know this has already been covered, but anyone claiming to be without sin is a LIAR, and claims to be greater and more righteous in the eyes of God than Paul ever was at any point.
No. You have things opposite and backwards. Anyone who says they have fellowship with Him and does not keep His Commandments is a liar (See 1 John 2:3-6). 1 John 1:6 says the same thing. He that says he has fellowship and walks in darkness is a liar and the truth is not in Him. So if you say you walk in darkness on occasion and yet have fellowship with Him, you are lying.

1 John 1:8 is written to the brethren warning them against false beleivers who thought they had no sin whatsoever on any level. So for these false beleivers, confessing sin was a pointless excercise. This is very similar to what many Antinomians believe today (and what they have told me many times). They believe that confession of sin is not necessary for them to be forgiven if they do sin. They say they are forgiven of their sin: Past, present, and future. They have no sin spiritually to worry about. They are saying they have no sin on a spiritual level and there is no need to confess so as to be forgiven of sin. Yet, what does 1 John 1:9 say? Let's go ahead and read it.

1 John 1:9 says, if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

So 1 John 1:9 is saying you have to confess in order to be forgiven. The real believer recognizes sin if it arises and deals with it appropriately.

But wait..... there's more!

1 John 1:7 says if we walk in the light as he is in the light then the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. Again, walking in the light is in context to keeping His commandments. For the very next chapter (which I said before) says this in 1 John 2:3-6. So in order to be forgiven, one has to confess and forsake sin. How do we know you have to absolutely forsake sin as a part of repentance? How can we know for sure according to the Bible?

Well, Jesus said that the Ninevites will rise up in Judgment against this generation because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. Now, if you were to turn to Jonah chapter 3, you would see that the Ninevites had turned from their wicked ways as a part of their repentance. One has to turn away completely from sin and evil. There is no.... "Hey, I can sin sometimes. Everybody does it." That is wrong and evil to even think that way. God does not want you to sin ever. For it only took one sin in the Garden by Adam for all of mankind to fall into sin and death.

The Bible tells us that you can cease or stop from sin.

Read 1 Peter 4:1. It says they that have suffered in the flesh have ceased from sin.

Galatians 5:24 says they that are Christ's have crucified the affections and lusts.

Peter identifies false believers as not having ceased from sin (See 2 Peter 2:1, 14).

Jesus said if your eye is in darkness, then your whole body is in darkness. So there is no room for a little bit of sin to take place in your life. You can stop sinning now if you work with God and believe the Scriptures. But will you believe Him? Do you want to stop sinning and please God? That my friend is between you and God and if you choose to ignore His Word, you will have to give an answer to Him.

Not according to the Bible that has been around long before the Modern Translations.

It says,

"For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same
is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body." (James 3:2 KJV).

Did you catch that? It say "offend" not "stumble." Big difference there, my friend.

I'm gonna throw this honest bit of criticism so here it goes. You come here as a man who show no indication of a broken heart. And a man who doesnt strive to be more and more broken before God everyday doesn't know what love is. Much less, the kind of love it took for Jesus to do what He did without reservation in His heart.

Im sure you'll argue this point but you'll just be arguing with God and what you really are before Him.

Why not quote 1st John 1:8 instead of your commentary which is wrong....and pay attention to the word WE as John includes himself in the verse....the truth is simple...those who claim they have no sin are liars, deceived and the truth is not in them...

Do you even understand that...THE TRUTH is NOT IN THOSE WHO CLAIM THEY HAVE NO SIN<--- that would be you

Now...have you noticed that there are only a few people who agree with you? And they are just like you...deceived and the truth does not dwell in them..........!

You are joking right?

One lustful glance, one moment of unrighteous anger, one millisecond of a dirty thought, one illegal download, a white lie, irritation, even breaking a trivial road traffic law(Romans 13 1-2). is a SIN.

According to you Jason, you obey all road laws perfectly, and because you're a christian you never mistakenly run a red light, run a stop sign, forget to indicate when changing lanes, accidentally speed? Come on, let's get serious here. That's just one type of sin.

No one is without sin.

Christians sin far less, and hate sin, and feel absolute regret when we sin and are broken over our sins. But we are not without sin.

I really am struggling with the bizarre connection you make with people who say they're saved and think they can live as they please and someone who is truly saved and stumbles.

1 John 1:8 ''If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us''
