No offence, but there is no problem with the eternal security that is afforded in the word of God as it is God given.....the bible is clear.....it is the spirit that has been born again and is eternally saved, sealed, justified and sanctified in Christ for ever as GOD'S kingdom is SPIRITUAL......the spirit, until the day of redemption, is housed in a fallen, wicked, body of sin that is weak, fails and occasionally sins...I will not even argue this point as it is clear from scripture and both Jesus, Paul and John speak to this truth in one way or another.

Someone led by the spirit, faithful, a honorable vessel with works of gold, silver and precious stones
Someone saved, yet led by the flesh, a dishonorable vessel with works of wood, hay and stubble<--yet saved so as by fire
Someone saved yet lives contrary and maybe even does wicked things<---cut lose for the destruction of the flesh so the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Someone saved that walks contrary<----grieves the Holy Spirit of God yet sealed unto the day of redemption
Someone saved who walks contrary<---chastised by the Lord, blessing taken and maybe even physical life

For those who want to claim that the battle between the Spirit and the Flesh is gnostic...I suggest you take it up with God and Paul as they both speak to the validity of this truth!....God being Jesus that is!
Amen and Amen . . . .

God will never take away that "new spirit" which He has put within His children: for "the gifts and calling of God are without repentance [without a change of mind) [Rom. 11:29] That new creation within us is PERFECT - it is the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ via the gift of holy spirit.

He will not make us "perfect in Christ Jesus" [Col. 1:28] and then judge us imperfect. He will not make Christ to be our righteousness and holiness [1 Cor. 1:30] and then unmake His own work. If we are once "complete" in Christ [Col. 2:10] we cannot become incomplete. He will NOT deny or forsake the work of His own hands [Ps. 138:8]. . . . This new nature cannot be forfeited - No, not even by sin: for even this contingency is provided for in 1 John 2:1,2 "If any man sin we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous, and He is (and remains) the propitiation for our sins." . . . . "If any man sin"; What then? In that contingency we are not told what we are, but what Christ is. We are not reminded of what we have done, but what He has done. . . . . We were "sealed" upon believing; and our position and standing before God was secured and assured by the gift of the new nature. The Two Natures in the Child of God; E. W. Bullinger

Amen and so obvious yet those who believe you can lose salvation will argue, explain it away, deny it and or stand against it while rejecting the definitions of word, verb tenses, verses in context etc.........Such a simple truth for sure.....!

I suggest you take a look at how many understand the word perfect and acknowledge the truth that it does not mean sinless perfection and then start acknowledging the truth about the sin that is in your life and then acknowledge Jesus biblically......all I am doing is stating facts and the truth is simple....you cannot receive it and or have to change the topic because it plainly proves that you are in doctrinal error and your salvation lite false gospel is exactly that....false...why is it so hard for you to see the truth......?
dcontroversal. I commented on the word "perfect" and did not know for sure what verse was being used. I assumed it was James.

In Matt.5:48 "perfect"does mean perfect.

This was 3 years before the Church and being in union with Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Walking and living in the Spirit is the command for the Church.

When we are filled with the Spirit, we are considered perfect. We are constantly indwelt, but we can lose the filling of the Spirit by grieving or quenching the Spirit.

It is why it is future tense in Matt 5:48

YOU SHALL be perfect {prophecy of the Church Age - Union with Christ - filling of the Holy Spirit producing divine good} . . . as your heavenly Father is perfect

The sinless perfection crowd will only look at grieving the Spirit(Sinning overtly.)

They overlook the quenching of the Spirit.......their human good(evil)

I know its hard for all of us to understand. But our human good is what causes most of our problems after we are born again. We strive and endure in our flesh. It is our own human good, which is considered evil in the eyes of our Lord. Our moral living and behavior may be beneficial for us, but it is of no value in the Spiritual life.

All sin is evil, but not all evil(human good) is sin.

It is only the divine(deeds in the Spirit) good that has value in our spiritual life.

All I know is the word perfect is translated perfect about 42-43 times in the N.T. About 10 different words are translated perfect and the word that is predominantly used and which is also applied unto the verse he quoted means.....

telios-->complete in various applications...of labor, growth, mental or moral character, completeness, of full age

It has not one thing to do with sinless perfection.........As a matter of fact I looked up every time the word Perfect is used in the N.T. and there is NOT ONE OCCASION where SINLESS PERFECTION is IMPLIED...NOT ONE...........the reason it is not found is because EVERYONE in the flesh HAS SIN or WILL SIN at sometime or another!

IF we say that WE have NO SIN (present tense) we are DECEIVED and the TRUTH is not IN US!

And I like the very next verse......Matt 6:1, because it is describing what is going on here!

New American Standard Bible
"Beware of practicing your(own human) righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

No, actually Jeff he is understanding the word and the fact that the spirit that has been born again is sinless while being bound in a body that is dead because of sin, weak and fallen and not subject unto the word of God....and to be quite frank...just reading the bible means jack....all of the false so-called Christian religions (read) the bible and consistently REJECT words, verbs tenses and context which contradicts there heresy!

Yeah and what does it mean when it states clearly......

To take a fornicator and cut them lose for the destruction of the flesh so the spirit can be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus Christ?

Wake up....the unrighteous are the LOST who are still found under the condemnation of the LAW because of their sin which is still put to their account!

Don't worry....he is another one who is sinless, perfect and ALWAYS 100% of the time does everything that God requires...never sins and by his own walk exceeds the righteousness of the Pharisees.......

Idolaters often gets overlooked in this passage. This could be anything that we place above Christ. And with Born again believers it could be their own self righteousness.

And notice it says INHERIT. Not all born again believers will inherit the Kingdom. But ALL will ENTER.

Our reign with Him is at stake. Not our salvation.

2 Tim 2:12~~New American Standard Bible
If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny(our reign and rank) us;

But our entrance in the Kingdom is secure.

2 Tim 2:13~~New American Standard Bible
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.(our union with Him, we are a part of His body)

Eph 5:30~~New American Standard Bible
because we are members of His body.

Many fail to understand that our salvation is secure in Christ, but we can squander our inheritance by riotous living......it is not that difficult to understand at the end of the day..........

What I have learned in my interactions with a few on here is that pride in knowing scripture is a god with a small g. Pretty illustrative of how man and satan can conspire to twist what is good into something that is not and how blind some are to their puffed up hearts.
