Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
(2Th 2:4)

In order to 'sit' it pretty much takes a body.

I can't argue a case if we spiritualize things then any thing goes and it is like pinning jello to the wall.

Whenever these threads come up, I always feel inclined to say.....

I really don't care about a future antichrist.
The only "antichrist" I care about dealing with is the anti-christ spirit that lives in me on a daily basis.

And praise God, He is defeating it in me a little more each day!

That's nice but that is not the issue here.
He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world. 1Jn 4:4

11. 42 ἄνομος ου m:a non- Jew who lives completely without reference to the Jewish Law- Gentile, heathen, pagan. τοῖς ἀνόμοις ὡς ἄνομος... ἵνα κερδάνω τοὺς ἀνόμους for the sake of the Gentiles I live like a Gentile... in order to win Gentiles 1CO. 9:21. For another interpretation of ἄνομος in 1CO. 9:21, see 33. 57.
In a number of contexts, it may be best to speak of Gentiles as those who are not Jews. In some languages the equivalent of Gentiles is simply foreigners, but one must be very certain that the use of a term meaning foreigners will actually designate non- Jews rather than those people who do not speak the particular receptor language.
It would be a serious mistake to render ἄνομος as lawless on the basis of its etymology. To speak of a lawless person is to imply that he transgresses existing laws rather than being one who is not subject to the Mosaic Law. Louw &Nida

So Greek studies will take us in circles. Best is to take many translations and contexts and compare.

I thought you had copy pasted other versions showing like three or four of them showing it as "lawless" whereas mine says "that wicked" but when you look at the word they equate the two (putting no difference). Then when you look at the Lexicon its like its saying without suggestion of iniquity, whereas you are saying its like evil incarnate as Jesus is incarnate ... I cannot possibly follow where the argument is by pitting versions then as both words exist between them as one word. This will likely follow, I always end up leaving these type of threads more confused and with more questions then I actually come in with,

Again from the Complete Jewish Bible...

2Th 2:8 Then the one who embodies separation from Torah will be revealed, the one whom the Lord Yeshua will slay with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the glory of his coming.CJB

Yes there are quite a few translations, without law, is that an adjective?

To be honest, maybe I'm not clearly seeing your point.
Is it that you believe 'lawless' can be either a person or a non personal entity?

They can't understand the Mystery because the vail of the flesh is still covering their minds. Paul confessed the Mystery was already at work, just as antichrist was already at work "in" the minds of many deceivers.

2 Thessalonians 2:7
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

Our bodies are the temple that God made for Himself to dwell in by His Spirit.

We read in 2 Thessalonians 2:4 “Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

Paul here is talking about the
man of sin being revealed, the son who will go into destruction, who has “that Wickedspirit working in him. Many believe this to be a single evil man figure is yet to come, but Paul clearly mentions this spirit working in many, and it “the mystery of iniquity already working”

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
“ Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
[SUP]2 [/SUP]That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.[SUP]3 [/SUP]Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of
sin be revealed, the son of perdition;[SUP]4 [/SUP]Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.[SUP]5 [/SUP]Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?[SUP]6 [/SUP]And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.[SUP]7 [/SUP]For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.[SUP]8 [/SUP]And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:[SUP]9 [/SUP]Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,[SUP]10 [/SUP]And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.[SUP]11 [/SUP]And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:[SUP]12 [/SUP]That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness"

Note, in them, they, them, they all is speaking about more than one man. (but many)

But what about sitting in the Temple of God? I believe Paul was speaking in a mystery when he said this, as he was also playing off of other parts of scripture in order to do this. In
Ezekiel 28:2 “Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:”

The Lord later goes on to say to this “man” in verse 13 “ Thou hast been in the garden of God;” Now we know the Prince of Tyrus was not in the garden of God, but man (
Adam) was. But the Lord later goes on to call this man the “covering cherub.” So the message here is twofold.

The Lord is not just speaking to the prince of Tyrus alone, but to the spirit of “that
Wicked” which entered into man (Adam) when sin entered into man. (man of sin)

So when you understand the
spirit and the sin nature of the devil is working in the heart of man, then we can begin to see what Paul was saying about this “man of sinsitting in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God”.

Paul also gave us clue to confirm this message in 1 Corinthians 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

So our bodies are that temple God
created for Himself to dwell in by His Spirit, but “that
Wicked” spirit entered in, when sin entered in man= “man of sin

And Paul goes on to say in
1 Corinthians 3:17 “If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”

So whosoever has “that Wicked”
spirit dwelling in them, (the temple of God) him shall God also destroy. (son of perdition) or son who goes into destruction.

To be honest, maybe I'm not clearly seeing your point.
Is it that you believe 'lawless' can be either a person or a non personal entity?

You would have the wrong person, I am professed fencesitter on these things so I cant say what I believe yet.

I am asking after not professing anything. Just testing the wisdom pool, you know ten thousand instructors in Jesus Christ ((out there somewheres));)

I was (at first) asking after the verse I posted again after taking InSpirits verses and rehilighting it to catch better what he was saying, and after doing so I was asking how it could not be what it seemed to be showing?

Then you posted other translations I was missing the point in this, like I was asking you what that was supposed to be showing (as opposed to the other translations)

But both words (that wicked in mine) and your 4 "lawless" translations are equal when you look up the word, each translation typically picks one of the words (which each shows as equal) as was the case between mine and yours.

The lexicon seems to show the same word used plurally and singularly for example he was numbered with the "transgressors" (or wicked) in his death or where the law is made for "the lawless" (singular/ plural) but when it says, "THAT Wicked revealed EVEN HIM ( I see as singularly used) after the working (of Satan) and then rolls it right into... IN THEM...?? That was what I was asking about. Like do you see that? Its singular but its plural just as that Kings picture, which I thought was a decent demonstration of God sending a lie (as one him) into the mouth of many (after that working also).

I recall first seeing it, and I just kept it in the back of my mind (and because I am a fencesitter on certain things this being one of them I dont have a bone to growl over like most who are decided lol (Im free) belonging to no hive mind (not yet anyway)

but to day I rehilighted that and made myself look at it again (and thats all).

I wont wrangle with you, I will leave off from it after this and keep this still in the back of my mind.

InSpiritInTruth, what on earth are you doing up so late?

I was like whoa! He is still up, burning the midnight oil? LOL

There's a bad man coming, there's a man who sins coming! OH MY! LOL!

In order to 'sit' it pretty much takes a body.

And a body in scripture, (like the Body of Christ) has many members. :)

Revelation 16:10
And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,

Hmmmm....they and their means more than one don't it? :)

And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory. And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they (refers back to men in v.9) gnawed their tongues for pain,
(Rev 16:9-10)

It makes better sense if 'they' refer back to the men in v 9. Also you have 'seat' (singular), 'his' (singular) and kingdom (singular).

This is crazy. Some obviously are deluded and tenaciously hold to their delusion...carry on.

Today many people's seems waiting the coming of the Antichrist, even though, if we study the Bible, we may learn, that there is not such a thing like the Antichrist, instead the Scriptures tell's that there will be time of the antichrist's and that time of the antichirst's was predicted to happen in a time when the temple of Jerusalem was ruin, by Roman empire around year 70 A.D.

15. When therefore ye see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let him that readeth understand), 16. then let them that are in Judaea flee unto the mountains: 17. let him that is on the housetop not go down to take out things that are in his house: 18. and let him that is in the field not return back to take his cloak. 19. But woe unto them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days! 20. And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on a sabbath: 21. for then shall be great tribulation, such as hath not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever shall be. 22. And except those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. 23. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Here; believe it not. 24. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. (Matthew 24:15-24)

That abomination of desolation seems to be the Roman army in ground of Jerusalem, in year 70 A.D, and it seem that, this was the active time of the antichrit's or false people's, who claim that they are the Christ.

18. Little children, it is the last hour: and as ye heard that antichrist cometh, even now have there arisen many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last hour. 19. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they all are not of us. (1 John 2:18-19)

But sure, today some one may claim to be Christ, but I believe that the main time was back then.

This waiting of the Antichrist causes, that people's do not want to see that the big delusion is already here right now.

Do not deceive your selves

Friend, with all due respect and love to you, i hope you are not deceived in your 'self', being as 'babes in CHRIST' and also as a lesson to us, as was Peter corrected, when he was a disciple of CHRIST, who misunderstood the saying of the Prophet that must happen and come to pass.

Please let me make this simple for you and everyone who are 'witnessing', and not attack one another regarding this, even one who already know, according to the book of Revelation.

Now, has the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem that was destroyed by the Romans in AD, as was 'prophesied' by JESUS of Nazareth would happen, to HIS disciples written in the Gospel, have been ever since 'rebuilt', and 'sacrifices' of animals for sins according to the 'Law of Moses' resumed and practiced until today?

Yes or no?

If no, the 'anti-CHRIST', the 'lawless one', the 'beast', must come according to GOD's Word and make peace, first of all between the muslims and Jews, And also 'he' therefore allow the Jews in the 'peace treaty', to 'rebuild' their Temple once again, and that they may offer their 'sacrifices' for sins there, where until today that is what they are and have been praying and praising GOD for most importantly ever since, at, and facing towards the 'wailing wall' in Jerusalem.

His reign in deception over all mankind who have not welcomed the Gospel, even Christians who are not in 'abiding' and in 'practices' to them, will be for seven years and in the period of 'Tribulation' for Christians, three and a half years against GOD's elects before they are 'taken up', who 'abide' and 'practice' them 'faithfully' until death in the hands of the 'beast'.

But please, this is another 'topic' that i would not want to continue, for there will be a lot of 'contention' regarding them.

May GOD the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST bless you all 'witnessing', thank you.

What you are referring to, that has taken place so far and from the Apostle's time, is only the work of the 'spirit of anti-CHRIST' and the 'ignorant ones' to the Gospel of Salvation, as 'anti-CHRIST'.

So the angels vial was only poured out on a singular seat, like one mans seat???? LOL!!!! Yes, this is crazy. Nighty, night!

Mat 23:2 Saying,The scribes and the Pharisees (plural) sit in Moses' seat (singular)?

There is a definite man who will be identified as...

The Little Horn<--Daniel
The Man of Sin<---2nd Thessalonians
The 1st Beast<---Revelation
The abomination that makes desolate<---Matthew, Mark and Luke
HE (personal pronoun) takes a head wound
HE (personal pronoun) makes war against the saints<--Revelation
HE (personal pronoun) wears out the saints of the most high<--Daniel
He (personal pronoun) thinks to change laws, times and customs<--Daniel
He (personal pronoun) has a forerunner and type in Antiochus E.<---Daniel
The FALSE Prophet makes and IMAGE of the BEAST<--Revelation
The BEAST has an identifying number of a MAN<---Revelation

and on and on and on!

It is not a man, it is the horn, or the king which raised up on that goat, and king, is predicted to live, maybe even over 2000 years.

It was the king, which destroyed the Jerusalem in around 70 A.D (abomination of desolation) and it is king, which exalt him self above all godly (evolution doctrine in our time now)

It no man, but spirit which has raise a long time ago, and it dwells also today.
