I think it is a very important topic to discuss and understand because the Bible does not teach we as believers will be slaves to our sin. For the Scriptures say, "Jesus Christ was manifested to destroy the works of the devil." This would be the works of the devil within a believer's life. Romans chapter 6 makes a contrast. You will either be a slave to sin or you will be a slave to righteousness. One who is slave to something has a Master at the end of which they are being a slave to. The Scrptures say he that sins is of the devil. The Scriptures also say that he that does righteousness is of God. Galatians 5:24 says they that are Christ's have crucified the affections and lusts. 1 Peter 4:1 says they that have suffered in the flesh have ceased from sin. Peter identifies certain false prophets as not having ceased from sin (2 Peter 2:1, 14).

I'm in agreement with you but I also understand that on a discussion forum, you can't discuss things the way that they should be. And truthfully, with beliefs that we are so rooted in, this is like arguing with a brick wall. OSAS doesn't move me one bit, like what we are saying doesn't move them one bit but for the most part, we have that one common truth of 1 John 2 regarding sin. Jesus clearly stated that there is NONE GOOD but God.....God inspired the following thoughts and truths....

1. None Good...no not one<--Romans
2. All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags and our iniquities like the wind have taken us away<--Isaiah
3. If we say we have no SIN, we are deceived and the truth is not in us<--1st John
4. There is not a just man upon the earth that does good and sins not<--Ecclesiastes

Many godly men of the bible committed horrific sins and or sinned after being saved as the bible records...

1. David a man after God's own heart and mind committed adultery with Bathsheba and had her husband Uriah Killed
2. Peter lied three times when he denied the Lord and used foul language in the process, he also played the hypocrite when it came to socializing with the gentiles and then disassociating when the Jews came around.
3. Abraham was deceptive about his half sister wife to save his own skin
4. Daniel prayed and confessed his sins and associated himself with the sins of his people even though one sin is not recorded about him.
5. Paul towards the end of his life writes that he is the number one chief sinner among men.
6. Noah got rip roaring falling down blind drunk after the flood.
7. Thomas, after walking with the Lord for over three years and having the abilities to work miracles doubted the resurrection.
8. Solomon built temples and groves to idols because of the affiliation with his wives and concubines.
9. Peter was also called Satan once by Jesus for denying that Jesus had to die for the redemption of humanity.

Etc. At the end of the day the bible is clear.....the Pharisees bragged about their own righteousness, claimed how sinless they were and consistently pointed the finger at those around them while denying their own sin. Just because someone is saved does not mean that they will not in a moment of weakness sin....this does not mean that we cannot overcome particular sins and or cease from continual sin. You know....the man who will not even lift his eyes to heaven while beating on his chest and seeking forgiveness of sins is the one who walks away justified before God....not the one who brags and boasts of his righteousness, of being sinless and or makes claims to being righteous at the detriment of others.......

The statements below are applied unto particular sins of the flesh and not to the over all sinfulness of the flesh....
1. Go and sin no more
2. Those who have suffered in the flesh have ceased from sin

For there is NOT a just man upon the earth that does GOOD and SINS NOT<------when this was written there were saved men on the earth and this is as applicable unto them as much as it is applicable unto us!

The spirit that is born of God does NOT sin, is eternally saved, justified and sanctified in Christ positionally.
The flesh that the spirit is housed in is fallen, sinful and dead because of sin

Jesus said it best and proves the conflict that takes place within a true believer.......The Spirit is indeed willing, but the FLESH IS WEAK<----Paul expounds on this, although it is rejected by those who brag and boast of their own righteousness and lack of sin!

According to his own doctrine...if he is not perfect yet then he is still in sin and lost.....how many times has he equated sinless (PERFECTION) with the key to heaven and if you are not perfect you are in sin, a slave to sin and on your way to hell.....

you must have a thing against drunks and prostitutes. Instead of puffing yourself up as to how great a person you are. why do you not do as Christ did and share your love to them, and instead of judging them, share the love of God with them.

Maybe one day you will realize in the grand scheme of things, when God looks at you. He sees you no better than he sees the people you hate. You can;t hide the sin you commit. You may deny it, or try to say it is not there. but it is, God sees it, and he hates it just as much as he does all sin.

Are you blind as well....Sin reigning means to give in wholly to it and allow it to dictate your life......For someone to occasionally fail, fall and SIN is NOT allowing sin to reign in your mortal body...wake up to the truth and my post above stands....your theology of dismissing one verse in favor of select verses leads you down the same path of falsehoods just like your buddy.

Or is one thinking they will live for God and be holy and put away sin out of their life and live unto the Lord and His righteousness? What is the better option? Does an alcoholic give into defeat and just remain an alcoholic? Or does the alcoholic desire to be sober and free from his addiction?

I don't think anyone has ever advocated it is ok to be a slave to sin. And in the case of the alcoholic it will be harder for him to stop since they have proved in some men it is genetics that pre-dispose them to alcoholism.

When Paul speaks of the two natures and John writes to Chrisitans not to sin but if we do we have advocate with the Father and that is Jesus, I don't see how you can't see that and refuse to believe that a person can stumble in their walk with the Lord.

See another error on your part...My bible states that positionally I have been sanctified for EVER in Christ....Hebrews....My physical life is a daily process with ups and downs, successes and failures.....this is what you miss and are blind to!

Sanctification is not a process. The Greek verb "to sanctify" does not mean to purge and purify over a period of time. The word "hagiazo" simply means to set apart or to make separate for God. The moment a person is saved, they are sanctified, set apart for God, and that sanctification is Jesus Christ, just as righteous required of God is Jesus Christ. Sanctification is a Person, but no wonder you turn this also into something about your own efforts, as you turn entire threads into conversations about yourself.

1 Corinthians 1:30-31 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Do you believe in Once Saved Always Saved and or a "Sin and still be saved doctrine"? Meaning, do you think it is possible for a peson to commit a sin and then die without repenting of it and still be saved? For example: Do you believe a person who commits suicide is saved?
