Of course whether it's OT or NT it always was about agape love. JFSurvivir was asking about Romans 12:19-22. And actually Paul quotes Proverbs 25:21-22 and Deuteronomy 32:35 in that passage.

Dont get me wrong I dont disagree with you Sarah, its probably a little harder to put all the proverbs in a specific \context, wherever said commands are gathered from create the present context's but they often dont violate most context's especially proverbs

And definately love

You're right I should have clarified that. Proverbs singles verses can be used without the changing the meaning. The problem with the epistles is that Paul uses a Greek style of argument. Even where they put the chapter breaks are often poor,Paul will start with something in say chapter 7 and then he finishes halfway through chapter 8.

I think Paul was expanding on it and giving it the deeper meaning and the "heart" behind it.
:)

Yeah its like we were enemies in our own minds and it was the goodness of God towards us that was mind changing (for us) that heaping on the head just seems more right in that sense as well.

I agree.... We love BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVED us. :)

This is gonna get ignored probably, but if y'all want to disagree with each other or take the original post off topic, do it somewhere else please. Either start a new thread, or pm each other. But no one wants to see public disagreements back and forth on someone's thread. That's it for me on here, and if any of you actually want to help JF Survivor, I'd suggest you do the same. And actually help instead of being a nuisance.

THIS MAN IS SMART!!

What I believe this thread is about is loving your enemies that have done something sooooo bad that you feel like you don't want to love at all. But in the end you feel like you'll be letting God down if you don't at least try to tell them to you love them. You don't have to be friends with them. But, you have to show them love from the Father. Am I right, JFSurvivor?

Eh...sorta....you got most of it right...except instead of loving them because you feel like you're letting God down you love them because God loves them and because they might be just as hurt as you. because they are so hurt they may really need that love....

Like I said before, I do not discuss my personal life in detail with folks who are out to judge me. For when I share my personal life, it is for God and those in whom I can trust in the faith. I am here to discuss the Bible because we are in a Bible discussion section on a Christian forum.

Not to be mean Jason, but when one comes across as not being open in any way shape or form it comes across as being being fake and disingenuous. It comes across as either there is very little reality to your walk or your walk is so much better then anyone else's. Do you honestly think that the apostles hid their walk and their struggles to those they were teaching or were they open? Do you realize if you went to the groups that I dealt with you would be seen as a caricature of a Christian and not the real deal? The reason being is that you can not be real about your own struggles and you come across as being so much better then anyone else. That's how you be seen.

None of it means to have to spill all your guts, but being a little more open would help you out.

Jesus said we will know false prophets by their fruits. If a person is sinning and thinking they are saved, they are bringing forth bad fruit in the process and they are exposing themselves as frauds according to Matthew 7.

For if we do not love, we do not even know God.

We have to go by the Word of God because if that is not the case then someone can be deceived into killing themselves like many of those who followed Jim Jones.

So Jason you are saying if we sin we aren't saved? All of us sin so therefore, from your statement, non of us are saved. I think you need to read your post before you send it.

So, from what I gather about Jason is that everyone thinks he's a prophet, and a perfect human being? If that's the case, then I bow down to you master.

Well no ones perfect and I love you guys for not being perfect. And that does include Jason. You guys seem like you're attacking him and not staying on track with the OP and what this thread was about.

I think you are missing the sarcasm. NOBODY except JASON thinks that about Jason.

The love that we are called to is not about warm fuzzy feelings! The love we are called to is actively seeking and desiring what is best for the one loved. In the case of someone who is or acts unsaved; that means desiring their repentance and Salvation.

Hey Dana, were you on Christian Forum Site within the last year or two?

Thank you for being kind with your words for a change. But just to let you know, there is absolutely 100% no way I would believe in a sin and still be saved doctrine. I think that such a belief is pure evil.
I so don't get this. You aren't sinless, and yet if you sin, you aren't saved? How does that work?

Why? Cause I'm saying something true? For example: If you had a family member beat you until you were bloody and needed to be hospitalized, and they were arrested, would you love them still? I don't know if I could. Why? They committed s crime that was unforgivable. So, I say you don't have to love all your enemies.

My brother, those who forgive benefit more so than those who are forgiven because when you forgive someone you break the chains that encase your heart, thus setting you free from bondage.
