Tonight I was reading an article online about Vice President Biden's son passing away today from brain cancer. After I read the article, I decided to read the comment section below it and felt greatly moved as I read this long list of people offering their prayers and sympathies for the Vice President and his family. Then it happened. Among the folks offering their prayers, I found the knot heads who felt it was still appropriate to take potshots at the Vice President on the day that his son died.

I really don''t care what a person's politics are, but when someone loses a loved one politics get set aside for a time.

Ok, here's something crazy stupid and oh so typical of me!!!

I was trying to make a recipe tonight for "zoodles" (zucchini noodles) and so I was peeling away at zucchini with a serrated vegetable peeler... and happened to slice into the side of my finger. The gash is deep enough that you can see about 4 parallel peeled slices into my flesh and it looks like I'm growing gills out of the top of my hand! ARGH!!!! I have to cover it with a band-aid just because the sight of it is making me a little woozy.

The most insane thing is that I use a box cutter EVERY SINGLE DAY at work and haven't cut myself in a few weeks (that might be a record) and yet I come home and maim myself with a vegetable peeler.

Or... it might just mean that vegetables are dangerous.

I think I would have been better off if I had tried to fry myself a burger. I'm thinking one of the requirements I'll need in a significant other is a part-time nurse.
If it makes you feel any better I was trying to grate zucchini "noodles" last week and I sliced my finger on the grater as well. Chopping veggies can be dangerous work and rough on the hands. Maybe you should get a machine to do it for you (cheaper and less fuss than a significant other after all).
This is the day for kitchen mishaps! THIS happened to me today:

So much for trying to eat healthy. Wine bottles are much, much safer than salad dressing bottles. Trust me on this. :p

The grocery stores in America have become large super centers that have everything. Aldi is simple, food a few other things and that's that. You bring your own bags you pay a quarter for your cart and there aren't carts all over the lot because people want their quarter back so they return them. I like the way they run the store. The line goes super fast you pack your own stuff and you're on your way. It's funny because my kids and husband know the quarter in my car and the bags in my trunk is for Aldi and they don't touch them, lol

I'm more of a small basket and self-serve kind of gal, to be honest. For one reason or another, the check out operators of the Aldis around these parts always look glum and have a tendency to be rude. I mean, they sit in a chair and don't have the responsibility of bagging the goods... I've also been told they get paid well. I.... I don't get why they're glum...

If I feel like small chat, I annoy the young teenage check out people at places like Woolworths. I like to tell them at least one thing they're doing well, whether the happy countenance or their kindness or SOMETHING. I remember what it was like to be a teenager behind a cash register and coming across one rude person after another, and then that one kind person comes along and its a breath of fresh air.

Too bad you don't have Trader Joe's over there. The checkers there will chat you up whether you want them to or not.

Hmmm, but those kind of situations can open doors for evangelism. I can't remember the last time I was chatted up by some check out guy, but I'm sure if the time came, I would ask him if he wants to know about my Father. :p

They're pretty chatty at Whole Foods the entire 3 times I've been there. There's going to be one built near where I'll be moving soon, and I'm gonna try to apply there. I'm going to see if I can get a summer job somewhere before then. Maybe. I dunno. With my trip coming up next month, to get hired on and immediately ask for 4 days off, I don't think that'd bode well with any employer.

If someone tries to chat me up I will either 1) go into shock, or 2) know that they were trained to be chatty (or both) ..its usually both.. :/

Why is it that when you're only trying to clear up a misunderstanding using a calm, proper tone some people behave in an ignorant way and try to make you seem like a jerk?

What do you guys think?

British accents are cool, I like how proper they sound.

I know what you mean. When I try to be careful about what I say in respect to the person I'm talking to I tend to slow down and be very deliberate. But I think people misread that as you thinking their stupid, that they couldn't understand that you think you're right until you slowed down your speech/made it more easy to understand. And also I think it has to do with communication now adays. So many people now think they're right about everything and everyone else is stupid or wrong, that others immediately respond to that.
