...So...(starts twisting the lid) God made adam (humankind) in His own image; in the image of God he created him (<note "him")...(twisting some more)...male and female he created them...(Twisting again)...God blessed them: God said to them, "Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and subdue it...(twist, twist)... So, in the image of God means male and female to subdue in unity with the opportunity to bear children (i.e. bear sons and daughters after their likeness, the likeness of God) and to live harmoniously with all of creation - a state that was compromised with the fall from Grace and which has since been restored through the perfect blood sacrifice that Jesus supplied.
Doesn't it follow then that if our innocence is restored through Christs sacrifice then isn't the original 'likeness' won back? Isn't this precisely what we're all fighting for? And when I read how before the creation of Eve, God introduces Adam to all the other wonderful creatures, whom he allows Adam to name, I see God introducing Adam to his need for someone to relate to, and so God provides Eve. It's like Adam, on meeting his wife, he says " finally! Someone I can relate to." (Dang, this can is so tough to open!) Anyway, to go on, does anyone else consider that that the serpent zooms in on Eve as the one "vulnerable" to its deception. I've heard it suggested that 'after all God instructed Adam regarding the tree and not to Eve directly',I don't hold to that, either way, the deceiver deceived Eve and she, in turn led her husband. Are women more prone to be, dare I say it, emotionally/spiritually led/manipulated into deception than men? I've heard it suggested in the world that women are naturally more emotionally/spiritually guided, anyone got a biblical ref for this suggestion?- If so in the Kingdom this can only be a plus right? But, if this is so, are women not then more in need of the covering that a focused God centred man can provide? Also, would'nt submission to the natural/spiritual order of a man over his wife also cultivate true humility in the spiritually sensitive woman? Again, is'nt Wisdom repeatedly portrayed in the feminine? And doesn't it say, Get Wisdom! (Proverbs 4:7) And, he who finds a wife finds a good thing. (Proverbs 18:22) Don't women 'help' to remind men what it is their fighting for - the reclaimation of our God given blood bought, grace abounding, Righteouness before God? Women submit to your husbands! Men, listen to your wives!
There! Phew, I opened it! Thought I might need me a man to help me open it! Please don't be mean, I genuinely want to hear what people think/know on the subject. Thanks in advance.
You have interesting thoughts...I guess can sort of see what you're saying but I guess I don't like how men have abused this and the fact that there is no protection for women from men who are SUPPOSED to protect them...
I also think that many times women can be the ones to do the guiding because like you said wisdom is talked about in the feminine sense and what does wisdom do? It guides..so I guess I just don't understand why women can't be looked on as equals?
No. I already said it...... but since it was apparently misunderstood, here it is again:Is there something you want to talk about Stephen?
Maybe why you sound so angry?
The devil will work either side of the coin...
Congratulations..... no one else wants to talk about this thread anymore except you & your disagreeing friends. BTW, this seems to me to be nothing more than biblical disinformation..... not worth diddly.
This thread must be very important to Satan to try to burn christians against it..... busted!

satan, eh? perhaps if he can get (has gotten?) the women to eat the apple again.... and the men to follow.... that would explain a lot.....
I don't think so... we still have the knowledge of good and evil...Doesn't it follow then that if our innocence is restored through Christs sacrifice then isn't the original 'likeness' won back?
How about we stick with scripture instead of our own ideas of how things should be?
Sounds good to me, uh, well, as long as you use MY interpretation of Scripture
well, I like to look at 1 tim 2How about we take the verses that has to do with this subject and discuss them?
well, I like to look at 1 tim 2

we see that men's role is stuff like praying, giving thanks, lifting up holy hands...
women's role is stuff like dressing right, be taught with complete submissiveness, and be preserved by having kids...
does this sound right to you? it doesn't to me... maybe it's kind of like slavery... what maybe made sense in Paul's day doesn't today...
