I imagine it's a high stress job. I was married to a Navy Officer. Also, the divorce rates are very high in the military.

I have problems meeting people in public places like the grocery store or the gym. The only men to approach me are 10 years younger than me or 20 years older than me. I have to admit that I look 25 but I'm 35. All the 30 somethings in my area are taken or completely off their rocker. I have decided dating is the pits. If there were any horrible online dating stories I have been through them all. I have read some of the posts and realized I would be the frumpy single mom in the bookstore or coffee shop so I'm not going there. I guess I'll be single forever.

Yeah, you see the thing is, if you look for a dominant man, some of them are very good at faking the man of God thing for a long time.
Why should a man want to lead you around unless he has to. The whole idea is that a woman is supposed to be a help meet - capable of autonomous thought and action and can be trusted to do so. There shouldn't be much command and control involved here.
Do you really want that... a guy like me would feel cheated if he had to do that all the time. Could I do it? Sure. Would I enjoy it - not really.

I never said the woman can't make decisions, but I need someone who is strong when I am weak and vice versa. I need to feel protected and know if I couldn't make a decision he would intervene and give the final say. It takes me a while to make up my mind as I always change it. I love a person who challenges me because it makes me stronger and gives me an ability to stand up for myself, which is not an easy thing for me to do. I don't want a controlling man, but I do want someone who knows what he wants and knows how to get it. Would the marriage be a partnership? Of course, but as God created marriage he would be head of the home. I hope this made more sense
I might be misinterpreting this, but I know you said you want a dominant man. In the sense like you just described above (able to lead, strong, etc.) How is one dominant if he's weak? Again I could be reading this wrong so I apologize if I'm misreading.

Thats okay. I am thinking weak as in if he is going through something or if I said something that touched his heart he is not afraid to show his emotions. For example if I told a guy that God told me if I could trust him and he would feel comfortable sharing with me that it touched his heart and tears built up in his eyes. I don't think of him any less of a man because of that and Godly men are able to share their emotional side. Did that make sense?

In a way, it shouldn't matter. When it might matter is in 15 years when I'm about to turn 60, and he'd be 42. That's just a lot to handle. Having buried a spouse, I don't know if I could enter a relationship where there'd be a high likelihood of his surviving me. Might be fun though. Hmmm.

Okay, you're looking for a biblical head of the household.
You don't need someone who runs into harms way to find that. And you'd be surprised how tough some guys can be. Although not a lot of them apparently - I think churches have a nasty habit of turning out neutered guys who make Christianity look boring.
When you say you're looking for a dominant man, that's a different personality entirely than you're describing here. I work in a field filled with driven men who know exactly what they want and how to get it. Not all of them are dominant, and out of the ones that are, many of them are probably the ones I would be least interested in dating (let alone marrying) were I a woman.
Find a guy who's himself, and make sure he's actually a Christian. A guy like that is more than capable of dragging others across the finish line when need be, and is a lot more fun to be around when the situation doesn't call for being as serious as a heart attack. Heck, I know of more than a few guys who meet those criteria who are also quite capable of physically defending a woman against attack. Though most of them are on CC - not a lot of guys my age in my church. Not a lot of guys period - I see a lot of women with their kids and no man accompanying them.
If a guy doesn't go to church on his own... that's probably a deal breaker.
