Son: Well, how about a minute, Dad? Could a person live a single minute without sinning?

Dad: Well yeah, son. I think anyone could live a single minute without sinning.

Son: So, why don't we all just live our lives minute by minute?
You try driving in New Jersey and see if you can go without sinning. Ain't happening!

A person can be alive and be dead spiritually. This is why the father said his son was dead and he was alive again. Nowhere did the Father go out searching for his son. The son had to make the choice to go home. In fact, he said he was not even worthy to be called a son anymore and that he was willing to come back as a hired hand. This shows that we are to also be servants to the Lord and not our own masters. Jesus said you cannot serve two masters. For you will hate the one and love the other.
Still missing the mark......His son was perceived as dead.....and no where does it indicate that he viewed his son as spiritually dead....He perceived him as physically dead....your application lacks credence because of your twist of everything found to salvation and the loss of it......which is impossible!

The majority of believers overlook his brother. They can't/don't see what is exposed in the brother through the experience of the Prodigal son.
The brother is a picture of Israel who is jealous that the Gentiles have now received salvation. But one day they will return. But that is not the entire focus of the parable. The son going prodigal is the central focus.

Not true. Here is a short list of verses that makes it absolutely clear that believers can fall away from the faith.

1 Samuel 16:14
1 Samuel 31:4
Ezekiel 18:24
Hebrews 3:12-14
Hebrews 4:11
Hebrews 6:4-9
Hebrews 10:26-30
Hebrews 12:15
1 Timothy 1:18-20
1 Timothy 4:1-7
Galatians 3:1-5
2 Peter 2:20-22
2 Peter 3:17
Matthew 13:18-23
1 Corinthians 10:12
2 Thessalonians 2:3

Jason,

The son was out of fellowship with the father.

And if you look close at the Sons "confession" the father cut him off and didn't let him continue in his guilt ridden, practiced confession.......name it, site it and the father is content.

He didn't let the son continue in his drivel and guilt ridden confession.

Yeah part of the same out of context list that you regularly twist to your own demise...the bible teaches eternal security..ONE verse in context ruins your pretzel twist of truth....Whatsoever God does it is ETERNAL......your twist of verses states that God cannot and does not save one eternally....lies....all lies and a twist of truth to teach a gospel with no power to save.....eternal does not mean temporary...period! If you believe you can lose salvation then you never had it to begin with!

God's people are good. They are not evil.
Exactly! Being a sinner does not make one evil. God's people are sinners. As far as driving and sinning, I'm not talking about shooting people or running them off the road, but once in a while certain thoughts or words escape. It's called being human and being real with God-given emotions.

Scripture has to be looked at with a balanced approach. There are many other verses that teach confession of sin as a necessary part of repentance. The parable of the Tax Collector and the Pharisee make this obvious. Also, 1 John 1:9 says we are forgiven of sin if we confess our sin. This is in relation to spiritual sin because 1 John 1:7 says we are cleansed by the bloof of Jesus if we walk in the light as he is in the light. This is further reinforced because 1 John 3:15 makes it clear that we are dealing with the topic of eternal life.

The central focus is the Father! This probably why you think that there is loss of salvation in it.

Your focus is the creature and not the Creator.

But see, there is not much difference in committing adultery with one's eyes or showing hate, then say murder. They are all sins that lead unto death or will cause one not to inherit the Kingdom of God if they are not confessed or forsaken. God calls us to be holy. God does not call us to stay in our sins. No Bible verse ever says that. Nor is there a Bible verse say we are sinners (presently) saved by God's grace. Such a concept goes against common basic morality. For to believe the morals of the Bible and then to live a life that is contrary to that is to be hypocritcal of what it says.

For why do you think many unbelievers are turned off by the popular version of Christianity today? It's because they see Christians being hypocritical to what the Bible is actually teaching.

No. The story focuses primarily on the Prodigal Son. Hence, why the parable is called that.

Jason,

Did you notice that the father cut the sons confession short? He didn't get to say all that he had rehearsed.

We've already been over this. You are barking up the wrong tree and ignoring the other passages I brought up to create something that does not actually exist in Scripture.

Great verses "Redeemed 2015."

I would like to add these verses, as well.

Galatians 5:24 - "And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts."

Matthew 5:48 - "
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

Job 28:28 - "And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding."

1 John 2:4 - "He that says, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

1 Timothy 6:3-4 - "If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing,"

1 John 1:7 - "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin."

Psalm 119:11 - I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

Matthew 26:41 - "Watch and pray, that you enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

John 14:15 - "If you love me, keep my commandments."

John 14:23 - "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him."

1 John 5:12 - "He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life."

John 12:48 - "He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day."

John 8:34 NIV - Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.

Matthew 18:9 - "And if your eye offend you, pluck it out, and cast it from you: it is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire."

Hebrews 12:14 - "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:"

2 Peter 2:1, 14 - "But there were false prophets also among the people, ... Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: a heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:"

2 Timothy 3:1-9 - "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they who creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with various lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was."

John 3:19-21 - "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."

I mean, I honestly do not know how a person can ignore these verses?

HEBREWS 4:15.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities;
but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

you might say this gives me great strength and a real desire to get up every day.

So every driver who has ever said a cuss word towards another driver is condemned to hell? I thank God I bask in the saving grace of Jesus Christ and not condemned according to the words of legalists.

Can you give me scripture where it is called, " the parable of the prodigal son."

This parable is about A MAN and HIS two sons.

The story is about how the FATHER deals with HIS two sons.

That should be a warning sign to you, search yourselves and see if Christ is really in you.

2 Corinthians 10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

James 1:26
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
