A person can be alive and be dead spiritually. This is why the father said his son was dead and he was alive again. Nowhere did the Father go out searching for his son. The son had to make the choice to go home. In fact, he said he was not even worthy to be called a son anymore and that he was willing to come back as a hired hand. This shows that we are to also be servants to the Lord and not our own masters. Jesus said you cannot serve two masters. For you will hate the one and love the other.

The majority of believers overlook his brother. They can't/don't see what is exposed in the brother through the experience of the Prodigal son.

The brother is a picture of Israel who is jealous that the Gentiles have now received salvation. But one day they will return. But that is not the entire focus of the parable. The son going prodigal is the central focus.

The parable of the Tax Collector and the Pharisee make this obvious. Also, 1 John 1:9 says we are forgiven of sin if we confess our sin. This is in relation to spiritual sin because 1 John 1:7 says we are cleansed by the bloof of Jesus if we walk in the light as he is in the light. This is further reinforced because 1 John 3:15 makes it clear that we are dealing with the topic of eternal life.

But see, there is not much difference in committing adultery with one's eyes or showing hate, then say murder. They are all sins that lead unto death or will cause one not to inherit the Kingdom of God if they are not confessed or forsaken. God calls us to be holy. God does not call us to stay in our sins. No Bible verse ever says that. Nor is there a Bible verse say we are sinners (presently) saved by God's grace. Such a concept goes against common basic morality. For to believe the morals of the Bible and then to live a life that is contrary to that is to be hypocritcal of what it says.

For why do you think many unbelievers are turned off by the popular version of Christianity today? It's because they see Christians being hypocritical to what the Bible is actually teaching.

The story is about how the FATHER deals with HIS two sons.
