I got the food I ordered in today. I gotta say, I'm not crazy about any of the things I bought. Though I could probably roast the sunflower seeds and almonds to my liking. The organic non-sulpher dried apricots are okay, they almost taste like over sized raisins (and I don't really like raisins). Once everyone eats them up, I probably won't buy them again, I'll just stick to the fresh kind. But they're not the worst thing I've ever ate, so I'll try to learn to like them a little more. Maybe learn how to make different things with dried apricots.

My sleeping got a bit thrown off again last night, probably because I woke myself up a bit too much when I got onto CC to visit for a bit. But I got up a little bit before noon (which is practically a miracle nowaday) and at first I was really groggy and grumpy, but about 5 or 10 minutes later I was much more awake.

I haven't gotten all of my supplements in yet, and I've been waiting on a call from the people who have it to say they got it, since they said it'd be in today and that they'd give me a call. They're closed tomorrow, so if it's not in today I'll have to wait till Friday. Not thrilled about that, but I'm not too unhappy about it, because in spite of the fact I don't have everything yet, I'm still already feeling better, so I can't complain too much.

Maybe on Saturday I'll go for a walk.

Oh, I just got a call as I was writing this. Supplements are in. That's funny. ...And a little weird. But yay!

Do you ever get a weird craving for a really weird food? Or in this case, condiment, if what I was craving classifies as such.

Several years ago, I severely limited my intake of all bread, pasta, and rice (which means pretty much all of Asia would disown me) and simple carbs. I also hardly ever put butter on anything. I have a full package of stick butter in my fridge that I haven't touched in probably 5 months.

But today... I was craving... BUTTER, of all things. I have no idea why.

And so, my meals today have consisted of baked potatoes and countless slices of toast...

All as an excuse to have something that I could thoroughly slather in butter.

lil_christian: Stewed apricots. Put the dried apricots in water and boil. Good with oatmeal.

seoulsearch: Is there any other way to eat potatoes? I cook them till they wrinkle, scoop them out of the peel (or sometimes just mash the peel in with it, depends on my mood) and put butter, butter, butter... and a little more butter. Maybe a sprinkle of salt, maybe not, depends on the butter.

I'll have to look into that.

Also, I gotta say, I LOVE butter. It's the only dairy product I can have right now. I'm on the hunt for organic raw butter.

I might have to try Whole Foods. Which I'm going to try to apply there for a job. You can get huge discounts on things there, which would actually make things there affordable.

Good luck! I haven't been into one yet, but have heard the stories about their pricing. Do you have a Sprout's near you? That market is awesome.

I don't think I do. Though I gotta say, at Whole Foods, you DO get what you pay for. It's not always overpriced.

Today's lesson:

When a recipe for stroganoff calls for two cups of milk, and you substitute soymilk because you don't have cow milk in your fridge...

...ensure that you do not use vanilla soymilk. Because then your stroganoff will taste...unique. And not at all like stroganoff.

Never ever ever ever ever use soymilk in any recipe that calls for milk. It does weird things. I tried soymilk in homemade chocolate pudding and it turned out... slimy.

Yesterday I made sourdough bread. After I shaped the last loaf I had some dough left over that wasn't enough for another loaf so I made hamburger buns.

Today for breakfast I cut one bun in half and put havarti cheese and jalapeno turkey on it. Very good breakfast.
