Could Jesus have sinned?

Could Jesus have sinned? The bible says he was tempted in all points yet without sin (Heb.4.15) The bible says he lived a sinless. Was it an impossibility for him to sin or could he have sinned given that he was man? Some believe that Jesus could have sinned as he was MAN while others hold the view that he could not have sinned given he was GOD.
Repeatedly, Jesus said he came not to do his Will but the Will of his father (Jn 5.19, 8.28). Does Jesus have a will of his own n so if HE followed his own way would of sinned?

What's your thoughts? :confused::confused::confused:

Jesus sinning was impossible in the context of a faith that works by love.

Jesus sinning was impossible in the context of walking according to the Spirit.

One cannot abide in either of those things and engage in rebellion to God.


Jesus sinning was possible in the context of Him operating in a flesh body just like any other man. Jesus had the same natural lusts and passions. These are simply what tempt or entice people to sin.

It is not really the case that Jesus "could" not sin, rather it is He "would" not sin.

We are to follow in His steps and walk just as He walked. If we don't we will not enter into the kingdom of God because it is the the DOERS of the will of God who will enter the kingdom and it is those whom have a pure heart whom will see God.
 
Yes, he could have sinned. "I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:" 2 Samuel 7:14
 
No. Jesus was not born with a sinful nature - He could not have sinned.

Adam was not born either with a sinful nature yet he chose to sin against God. I understand what u attempting to say but just wanted to mention this.

Adam, being a created being, had the ability to choose to disobey in him. Jesus (the eternal God) does not - nor ever could. The very nature of God makes Him incapable of choosing to sin.

The answer is in Heb 2v17,18: "Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted."

Jesus was made SIN, so that we could be made righteous:

2 Cor 5.21:
[SUP]21 [/SUP]He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

With loving respect to our brethren who feel Jesus was not capable of sinning, I lean on jb's post. If Jesus was tempted but all along He was unable to sin, then the temptation itself was false, even a mockery. However, if Jesus was capable of sinning, the temptation was very real indeed, and the fact that Jesus did not sin makes Him all the more glorious.
 
It seems to me that if Jesus could not sin, His refraining from sin was meaningless. Only the fact that he could have, but didn't ; gives Him status to redeem.
 
What I often think about is that Jesus felt the suffering involved with resisting sin - as He was 100% human while on earth. He needed to feel all the feelings that we humans feel and suffer as we would so that he could help us as we need it.

Every time I go through any suffering, I am comforted that Jesus is feeling exactly what I'm feeling.

JESUS was 100% GOD and 100% man but he was led by the Spirit not the flesh.
You can't Be 100% man and not be able to sin.

Christ had some peachy keen advantages over normal people.

1• He was born of God.

†. 1John 3:9 . . No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed
abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

2• He wasn't just guided by the Spirit, he was over-maxed with it.

†. John 3:34 . . God's Spirit is upon him without measure or limit.

3• His nature was that of a divine being rather than the human nature of a
common man.

†. Col 1:19 . . God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in him

Q: If it was impossible for Christ to sin, then what was the point of tempting
him?

A: When manufacturers design a new product, they typically subject it to
what's sometimes called "proving" which is a battery of special tests to
confirm that the product meets certain standards and/or will perform the
way they want it to without breaking down.

Christ's temptations prove that he was the man best suited to be the lamb of
God that takes away the sin of the world.

the reality is he didn't and if He would have he would not have qualified to be the messiah. He does have a will of His own but He willingly choose to submit that will completely to the Father, the question would he have sinned if He followed is own will is answered in His own words "I and my Father are one" therefore his will and the fathers were one and the same, this is why the father couls say of Him "He does always those things that please me"

This verse is not talking about God would chasten Jesus with the rod of man,
if Jesus sinned all would have died in our sins and all been lost.

David succeeded Saul. David sat on the Eternal’s throne. David’s son Solomon succeeded him,
also sitting on the Eternal’s throne.(1 Chronicles 29:23;2 Chronicles 9:8).

2 Samuel 23:1, 5,“Now these be the last words of David."God hath made with me
an everlasting covenant,ordered in all things, and sure” 2 Samuel 7:4-5,12-16

12And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee,
which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

13He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

“Then Solomon sat on the throne of the [Eternal] as king instead of David his father”

David’s throne was set up and established [with Solomon],16)
—was established forever in Solomon (verse 13)

King Solomon built the temple, the house for God

“I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant, Thy seed
will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations” (Psalm 89:3-4).

What if Solomon, or the children of Israel, disobey? God will chasten them
with the rod of men, but will not break this covenant.
 
This is one of those paradoxes where we demand one way or the other.

Since He is wholly God and wholly man the answer would be NO/YES.

Leave it there if your brain will allow, but I won't separate the two Natures of Christ. SO There...
