If the depression is honestly a mental disorder due to a chemical inbalance in the brain then by all means, they cannot be held accountable for such a thing. I am open minded; And I am willing to consider your side of things. But yet I know from experience that deppression can be behavioral. So even if what you say is true, I believe most deppression is brought about by people choosing to be that way. Anyways, I will pray about it and keep open to it.

Don't put much credence in what he believes..lol..
I don't, his statement and site he gave is full of just what it says, "junk."
A person who does not see how depression effects a person to debate and argue with a person that has, and then pretty much call them a liar is just flat out wrong. Depression I don't how you look at it is not a choice !!!

Yes he is entitled to his opinion but when he goes and makes a statement like that he needs to be shown he is very wrong, for that way of thinking he was having mentally disordered people not ending up with salvation.

I had come down with walking pneumonia (but had no idea I was sick physically) and so walked around for many months getting increasely depressed because my body was being worn down and my get up and go (dying) and there was no other thing besides that which I could detect. The doctor diagnosed it as depression (which is wasnt) but I still felt very depressed, but once the Pnuemonia was treated I was fine, but I wasnt depressed (clinically) it was a symptom of something else.
That wasnt a choice though Bro
But you are entitled to your beliefs because you are not obligated to believe me or my experience.

umm, Jesus wept.. does that mean he CHOSE to be sad and depressed? Jesus had temper tantrums. Does that mean he CHOSE to be difficult and angry? And on the cross, you don't think he was sad and hurting and depressed under all the emotions of the world? Of course he was! Peter and Judas betrayed him, his Father forsook him (or so he thought). Would you dare say to him, hey Jesus, depression's a choice, man?

Yes I know, but how he understands this is coming from his understanding of scripture, and in his mind he would rather trust the words of God (as he understands them) and doubt anyone elses words who might say its not a choice.
I just shared my own experience, I actually agree with you but its not too important to me I agree with everyone on everything, or whether someone feels its a choice (and I dont). Sometimes changes in mind come about gradually not by debating ones experience against what he is seeing in the word of God.
So, I am with you, but I get what Mitspa says too sometimes it is for attention, sometimes its from a sickness (as it was for me) but there will always be someone who wont believe us and they shouldnt have to really. I wouldnt even hold a man to believe me for something, who am I? Know what I mean?

I thought nobody loved me and there was no chance I was going to ever be loved. For me, it was a choice and not a disease. But now, I can see how it can be both, though. Thank you for your words.

Again, I deeply apologize for offending you. It was not my intention to be insenstive to your situation with your wife. I know that is a very close and personal thing for you and I respect that. I am also opening up now to the idea that depression can also be a mental disease. I pray that your wife is healed soon in Jesus name. Please forgive me for not being a little more senstive to your situation. That was not my intention to not show love towards you or your wife. I honestly do hope she gets better of this very soon.

Yes and I thank you for sharing your testimony as well to show that depression is not a choice.
I know some people can get down and be drawn in to a major spell of sadness to where they start having all kinds of bad thoughts for that period do to the effects of ones surroundings.
But the true mental disorder of depression that I am speaking on and experience from my wife who has it, is that it is not a choice nor does it have to have surrounding influences to bring on a spell. What set me off was he saying it was a choice and put it in the same boat as one who will be condemned. I know first hand my wife is going to heaven for she believes in God and our Lord Jesus Christ, and we discuss the bible a lot.
If that depression gets the better of her one day, which I constantly pray to God that it won't, but if it does and she does go that far of a point of no return. I believe and know our Lord will have mercy on her and grant her a place in heaven. For He is not going to hold a mental disorder over on a person, and I truly believe He uses situations like my wife for examples to make how we love one another better.
For it is not just the easy times that we are to love, show mercy, and forgive, but even in the most difficult situations we are still to hold on to that love, mercy, and forgiveness to all !!!

The good news. Jesus died for me. He had risen from the grave to give me a new life in Him. He is my friend. He will never leave me, nor forsake me. I take comfort in the love that He has shown in my life. Jesus. How wonderful that name is. How that name can brighten up the day and make one feel happy and new. Jesus is my way. Jesus is my Truth. Jesus is my life. Oh, how that puts a smile on my face. Oh, how I long to see Him face to face one day so as to hug Him closely. It will be so good. So glorious. Let the love of the Lord abound unto all.
