Knowing you both differ, and i believe have a heart for what you believe... i challenge both of you to pray for one another, heartfelt, selflessly seeking God's wisdom for one another. A week???
Good works together for good

That's not a challenge at all for I always pray for others in a heartfelt unselfish manner, asking for God to soften their heart and make them strong were they are weak. I do this even for the 3 I have on ignore, as I always no matter what they have done to me want God's love to be poured out on them.

So tell me did I just poof and turn into a heretic for you too?
This was not directed to me; but I will answer:

IMO Those who put the teachings of E.G. White on a par with or above Scripture are indeed heretic.

From my observation, you, among many Adventists, do not appear to be in that group.

I don't have an answer but how do we balance ignoring the heretics and this...?

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2Co 10:4-5)

Any true believer will always put God's Word Bible in first place including a lot of Adventists I know. Ellen White even said to put the Bible above her writings. I read the Bible every day.....Can't tell you the last time I opened a White book. Bible is more important to me.

It seems to me that every misguided statement should be answered with Biblical teaching ONCE; but we need to discipline ourselves to stop there. IMO, 'cast not your pearls before swine' simply means 'don't waste God's truth on the unreceptive'. It does NOT mean that Jesus views any person as a swine; but views unreceptive attitudes, regardless who they come from, as swine attitudes. It often happens that a person will be unreceptive today and be very receptive next week.

After heretical, or misguided, doctrine has been answered; I believe we should avoid being drawn into fruitless arguments.

Am I wrong to think that it isn't my job to change someone?

That verse is your answer, it's mighty through God. Not us.

Kind of a weird thread.

I think you have to put some people on ignore, even if its just for a short time, just to keep your own sanity and peace.

Probably no one will be able to read this because I am already on ignore... lol
Facepalm! :)

I think I'm coming to a more of a middle ground position. I don't mind the back and forth discourse even if they are what I would deem heterodox or off...as long as it remains respectful dialogue with no insults or name calling. I think I need to learn to shut down the 'conversation' quicker when the insults fling.

How do we both ignore and do this? (Pointing down here.)
Plus, we need to counter their heretical efforts with solid, biblically-based discussions that reveal truth through the Holy Spirit who will use those messages to draw the new and the unstudied back to the throne of Christ.

What if we ask more question than making statements? Seems a more fruitful way to just allow someone to defend their position. Plus...what have we to fear?
A. The desire to scratch my eyes out from the onslaught of manure?

B. Insanity from that much manure?

C. Weeds taking over?

D. A platform for more manure because they think they might be getting somewhere if someone keeps asking questions?

What a wonderful loving thread. Once again Us against them attitude. Do you really think that some people are purposely trying to irritate you. You think you have all the answers but you sound just like the people you are putting on ignore. This I believe has been the most hateful forum I have ever been on. You people think you are the upper class of Christians and no one can join your social group unless they follow you like little puppies wagging their tails in happiness just to be near you.

I have tried to be polite and show love as much as possible like our Lord and Savior would want me to do. Sometimes saying enough is enough and people just need to grow up and quit acting like children. This goes for anyone that isn't in your social group as well.

I'm pretty sure maybe you have me on ignore but I really feel you people on this forum just like to argue to hear yourself argue (or see). It is disgusting and sickening and you aren't edifying anyone but yourselves. If each one of us can't see that each of us are doing the same thing to each other then we aren't humbling ourselves.

I really hope their aren't unbelievers here who are seeking the Lord and seeing this bickering amongst ourselves. I am a moderator of another forum and I can tell you we don't allow this type of behavior from either side.

I have been a member of pagan boards, atheist boards and I don't see this much hatred and bickering coming from them as I see here.

Why is it that Christians can't stand to be around each other on forums? I bet Satan is having a blast seeing us attack each other. We wouldn't treat non believers like this. I truly hope you don't witness to people the way you do here because no one is going to plant any seeds at all.

Like I said, this is for everyone on this forum, not just the ones who disagree with me. If we aren't on this forum to edify God then there really is no point at all being here. We are only edifying ourselves.

God Bless.

Galatians 5:19-21 ESV

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
I felt the same way when I was new. (Notice that was April.) Even included a thread called "Us and Them." Guess what? It is Us against Them -- Christians against heretics. And guess what else? The four names I see right now now liked your post are the heretics. They're wooing you, just like they tried to woo me when I was new.

Once they realized I'm not easy, now their horns show toward me. Who do you think is causing the hate? "Them!" Those who have skipped God's word to create individualized gods that they expect everyone to buy, or suddenly no more love. No more love already even among the heretics.

If we were talking hate, we wouldn't be talking about protecting the newbies, about whether we should keep trying to talk to them or whether we should ignore them in hope of them getting bored and going away to protect the newbies or the babes in Christ. We'd also be hating on each other like they show hate.

I don't expect you to believe me, but hang around a month or two and you'll catch on. This site does have heretics. And yes, that makes them "Thems." They certainly aren't Christians.

I used to have a few on my ignore list. I took them all off. If I am unable to hear someone differing with me, what does that say about me?
You still have me! I don't think anyone is talking about ignoring folks who disagree. (For heaven sake. Where does that leave me? lol) They're saying ignore heretics. That's a world of difference.

Mr. Milktoast, holy Joe piety, telling everybody to be lovey dovey in all ways, showing some serious fang there? It's always the same. You deceivers who play the love card and the Christ-like card cave in like a mine shaft, in no time, spewing your venom. The truth does this, to all of you.

Any other proofs of your hypocrisy you'd like to put on the catwalk? Any more, "Do as I say, not as I do?" But, anyway, sorry. Don't need your fake religion. Why don't you all setup your own televangelist hucksters worship thread? Name and claim a thread? Give it a good 'ol word 'o faith title? I promise not to come near it.
Hey, now! Seriously. I felt the same way when I first joined, and I voiced. It is downright alarming the hate that goes on here, but that's the point. Sometimes the hate shows up because it was a bad day. When it is always the point, it's likely the hater is a heretic. Maybe not, but it's a flag.

Let newbies vent, because this site is a shocker in both good ways and bad ways for newbies.

Glutton for punishment? Have no taste? Need an emetic?
If he had good taste, how many of his friends on here would be friends? Certainly not me. Viva bad taste! lol
