yes, one with (i imagine) a pretty unsatisfying job.

i've told them how i'm sorry they've got such a poor job, but encouraged them to be thankful that at least they have a job, before asking them to put me on some 'do not call' list & hanging up.
and calling back again.
and telling them not to let the sodden nature of the work discourage them, and hanging up again.
and calling back again.
and telling them they've been pre-approved to receive unsolicited phone calls.

i hope they have senses of humor.

another thing i've done to a number that kept calling me over and over and over, even after i'd asked them a dozen times not to call anymore,
is search the internet for whatever i could find that looked like a scam / spam-magnet, and put in their phone number. and signed them up for all kinds of "free text alerts"

i was kind of hoping that they would get put on their own list, and start calling themselves. like a snake that eats it's own tail and devours itself, haha.

A mugger is a person too, but I won't treat him kind.

I went for some telemarketer jobs, figured out they were scammers, and left. I'd rather clean dog kennels.

In the UK, especially business, we get a lot of strange calls where
criminals try to access computers remotely.

Our computers are just terminals linked to a central government mainframe but for the last
several months, various attempts have been made to access our computer systems.
In one week I got 3 such calls, other staff members got them also.

Typical example of the calls :

Caller - hello I'm calling from Google about a problem with your PC.

Me - oh what is that

Caller - did you know your PC is throwing off error messages and causing
feedback to Google.

Me - oh that's interesting since I'm not using a PC

Caller - well you do have a computer don't yes

Me - well yes I suppose you can call it that

Caller - look I'm trying to be nice, we need to sort this out or your system
will be responsible for crashing the Google servers, but I can sort it out if
you give me remote access and I can quickly resolve the matter

Me - what, little old me is that powerful that I could bring a mighty organisation
like Google crashing to its knees!

Caller - I'm trying to be nice but if you don't cooperate then we will take you to
court for any damage done! I told you your PC is throwing out error messages
and malware. Now just follow these instructions and we can sort it out.

Me - I told you I don't have a PC.

zzzz end of phone call as he put the phone down:)

Oh what fun!

I've told some the economy has improved a bit, so surely they could get a legitimate job instead of trying to cheat people out of their money.

I've never had one respond to that though. It seems they hang up in the middle of my sales pitch. Go figure. lol

Has anyone seen that Jerry Seinfeld episode where he deals with a telemarketer?

he gets a call from one and asks for their phone number so he can call them back cause he's busy (or something like that)

I can't remember quite how it goes, but it's pretty funny

if anyone remembers...maybe post it? (or not)

Did that ever work? lol

The lady who brought future-hubby/hubby to the Lord had JW's come to her door. She made them a deal: "I will respectfully listen to you for one hour, if you will then give me one hour to respond."

They agreed. For the one hour, everything was nice. She even made them coffee and brought out the homemade jam. When the hour was up, they got up to leave. She walked to her front door, locked it, and blocked it. Then she said, "Unless your word is a lie, you will give me my hour now."

That locked them in, so she did the exact thing she did to my future-hubby. (This happened way before we met.) She opened her Bible to the spots they quoted, and then had them look at the verses in context. One after another after
another. She filled the whole hour doing that.

They were in a rush to get out, but no JW's ever came to her house again. The real seed was planted. No one knows if God sprouted it, except God and those JW's. lol

I think, if I were you, I'd have to go with "Google is an American company, so why am I bothered if an American company crashes? They aren't the Internet. And, exactly why don't you have an American accent, since you work for them?" lol

One thought; I never say hello twice, if I don't recognize the caller-id. No speaky after five seconds, I hang up. Robocalls seem to be programmed to start after the second 'hello', and real people will start sooner.

Occasionally I will listen to a spiel, but I will also interrupt and say 'no thanks'. If they don't stop, I'll say it again and hang up.

My worst experience; I received a call at about 5:45 AM one day; some joker telling me I'd get a free TV if I bought 1000 pens (like I needed them). He wouldn't stop. I hung up. I then picked up the phone a couple minutes later; it hadn't disconnected for some reason, and the guy was still talking! I think he was desperate to make a "sale".

Blessings,
Dino

I read, and read, and read, waiting to see if someone was going to remember this. My compliments to you.
