Liturgical Center? Unfortunately in too many churches it should be known as the Bull-Pen.

How do others in the congregation feel about it? Has anyone talked to leadership? Sounds way too distracting for me.

Yes, that may be his position, which is why I am a bit torn. I get what he wants to do, evangelizing is what we should all do, but to congregated to praise and worship is a bit different. I am open though to hear different thoughts. Maybe I am right, maybe I am wrong, but a solution can always be found by searching for an answer that brings me peace.
Have you talked to him about it? I mean, if you want peace, at least you'll learn his thinking. Even if I don't get a say in a matter, I've never been afraid to ask, "What's your thinking for this decision?"

Added bonus, it usually comes back to, "Why do you ask?" (Doesn't have to, but for some reason it usually does.)

Other question, if it doesn't work out, can it be changed? In many churches that becomes part of the architecture, so can't be, but sometimes it can. Our old church really is an old church. Put the pulpit in the back and it's going to make the teaching elder COLD! lol

Hey, I forgot what style we had for the altar. (I haven't been able to go to church in 16 years, so I forgot.) Here's a link to our front. Looks like the podium is part podium, part altar to me. Maybe that's why no one complained. lol

no way! i helped build your pipe organ! i did the console wiring and engraving.

i didn't get to go to the install, but i've been there once, to fix the swell shades when they were squeaking. i remember how hard it was to find a place to park a large box truck (in the street at the back entrance), and how beautiful the sanctuary is. recognized it right away in the pictures!
there was a wedding rehearsal when i came, and after i re-lubricated the shades, i sat in the balcony on the left and listened to a string quartet practice. because i love cellos.

i really like the organ console there, sort of short and wide with terraced drawknobs, and the antiphonal boxes we built have beautiful flame-copper pipes on the outside.

Just a thought for the OP.

I bet the seat at the back which is the furthest away from the street windows, is the
most popular seat in the house.

Do you have to get to church really early to bag it, or is there a waiting list
of occupants! :D

This made me chuckle. I have been to literally hundreds of churches in my lifetime, and the one I now attend is the very first one I've been to that you have to arrive at least twenty minute early if you want a seat on any of the first (front) three or four rows. We usually manage to snag one on the third row.

We have problems too but with capacity. The main church seats around 500 maybe 600
if they squash in extra seats, but we had to install an overflow in a room upstairs complete
with large screen of the main church and sound system etc, which seats around 100 people.

Unless you get there with 10-15 mins to spare you end up in this overflow area!

That's just the adults as the various kids and young people's groups are in rooms dotted
around the place and add another 400-500 to the congregation. We are in the middle of
a massive building project which plans to have a 1000 seater auditorium (which can easily
be increased to 1500 as the church continues to grow) plus a smaller auditorium with 500 seats.

God is so good, he has provided the main bulk of the cost of this free to the church
£20 million. Quite amazing!

How's your eye by the way after the surgery. My Aunt is doing fine, she no longer looks
like the terminator :D

It's still "scratchy" feeling, but the vision is much better than before. Thanks for asking. Hope things go as well for your aunt.

Maybe you can speak to your pastor or a leader at your church about this? I mean you should be able to speak about these kind of things with them, yeah?
Seems like they are being led more by the flesh rather the Spirit.
