I read this article today and it seems to me that a lot of people, including ministers, today feel this way or lean toward this type of belief. Once again someone trying to twist the Word of God to fit his/her own needs and wants.

Why are you reading anything on Huffington Post? It is not a "Christian friendly" site.

I was actually on my yahoo account and this article was on the page so I read it. I don't sit on just Christian friendly sites to read news. Why did you respond to this post if you don't feel like contributing to the discussion?
Ok so why would you bother repeating anything from huffington post as if it has anything to do with or faith?

why cant you guys be nice. lol.
i think the OP has a point. to some degree some preachers may be like what he said but IMO i think its more the the fact that many preachers dont want to say what needs to be said but would rather say what they think the people want to hear hoping they keep the pews filled on sunday.

i read the OP, and it seems like MoladhDia does not agree with the article he linked.

i also read the article, and i do not agree with it either.

so i agree with MoladhDia - and i am also sad that a lot of people seem to feel the same way as the person who wrote the article. the author belittles the Bible, then quotes from the 'gospel of thomas' - which is a pretty obvious gnostic heresy book, not written by Thomas and not canonical for good reasons. the author wants to pick and choose his own "truth" i guess - whatever suits him.

yeah, a lot of people are like that. they're more interested in Enoch than in the scripture we know is scripture, just because it's "secret" or whatever. more concerned with finding the antichrist than with seeking Christ. gnostic. puffed up.

i see no value in attacking huffpost. faux isn't 'friendly' either, if you're not a republican. they put on an appearance of 'christianese' like whitewashing, but they're every bit as worldly as any other secular news site.

Hey bro, just wanted to know why you were posting a non Christian news story from a known site that is hostile to Christians as a topic? It appears you are the orifice mentioned

The guy who wrote the article linked below is a nut.

Notice that he is involved with Vipassana, some type of Buddhist contemplative practice. He is also a fire walker. :D

If I were you, I wouldn't pick up my theology from nuts. It's not recommended. :)

this article is another example of a sort of empty & vapid 'christanese' religiosity that is celebrated in American media these days. it has an 'appearance of godliness' but concession to worldliness & human vanity, has no respect of holy things and denies the power and sovereignty of God.
it's a mix of humanism, new-age, gnosticism and universalism. it's a 'false church' that may end up being that great harlot that John prophesied.

i see the same thing in the polar political opposite websites, where 'christainese' is spoken out of one side of a mouth while covetousness, vanity, malice and lies come out of the other.

i see the same thing in us when we speak blessing out of one side of our mouth and cursing out of the other, back-biting and putting each other down instead of building up, forgiving and encouraging.

they will know that we have been known of God because of the love we have for one another. not by the websites we trash-talk, and not by the websites we quote news articles from instead. by our love. by our meekness. by how we look over offenses and do good even to our enemies.

I would encourage you to read through the views they post on social issues and it should become clear. Christopher Hitchens is a contributor to this site and he is an atheist.

John 1:1&14
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 6:63

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Here's a question -- since so many jumped on MoladhDia's case before actually reading the article and because of that he got banned from this site, is there anyway we can speak up to bring him back? He was lynched, simply because people thought, "The title of this thread told me all I need to know about this thread." That was terribly unfair, so can we rectify this?

And, yes, he cursed, but I bet that's not why he was banned so quickly.

I personally am not against the OP's original commentary (which was that some people will twist the Word of God), but I'm sure he was banned for his subsequent profane name-calling, which violates the very first rule of CC.

"...Also please do not engage in any blasphemous, profane, or improper talk, or any talk that is offensive to our Christian community."

I believe the bible is the word of God, written by men inspired by the holy spirit. I just can't believe anyone would want to read any thing secular and then post it on a christian chat room. Wow I mean why would I want to know what the advasary is up to so I can direct my prayers accordingly. I mean we have watchmen on the walls for that don't we? It's a shame that God's word is attacked so much it just makes me believe it even more, guess some people can't stand sound doctrine and they hate jesus hhhhhmmmmmmm seems I read that somewhere. Thanks for the post saint.
