What if you made them the darned best cake you could possibly make, they enjoy it so much they keep coming back, and you develop a relationship with them where you can share your faith in Christ with them at deeper level rather than if you refused and said so by the way have you heard about Jesus and what He thinks of your sin?
Just brainstorming here

Too Christ-like. :p

Actually the best way to go about things.

Oddly, these activists seem mostly to target Christian businesses while leaving Muslim ones alone.

I'm guessing they want to keep their heads attached to their necks.
It's called cowardice.
It goes hand in hand with sticking a crucifix in a jar of urine and calling it art...let them try that with the Koran.

I think that the gay couple posed 0 threat to their religion, all they wanted was a cake.

So Samual, would you bake a cake for a rapist who wanted to celebrate a rape he is going to commit? Or maybe bake a cake for a man or woman who is going to celebrate committing adultery? They pose no threat to your religion.

If all they wanted was a cake they had tons of other places to go. They wanted a political statement and they got it, asking with a good amount of money.

Why would it be important to view this link?

I should think that would be obvious. Maybe you didn't listen to it? I found it very applicable to this thread so I decided to post it. If you don't that's OK.

Well, I did not mean to be sarcastic or impolite. It's just that I have spent a lot of time watching and reading video links on this site and most of the time it proves to be a waste of time. If the link is defending homosexuality or gay marriage then I do not need to see it because I know what the Word of God says on the matter. If It is someone condemning the practice then I do not need to see it because I know what the Word of God says on the matter. This is the standard of truth, not the Church, and not what another Christian may or may not believe.

Autonomy vs heteronomy / sacredness of sexuality and sacredness of marriage/loving others though you may not agree with them.

I think the issue is more over dealing with gov't overreach than individuals.

I posted this a bit earlier, and am curious regarding your opinions:

Let's say the Romans went to the Jews, including Christ of course, and said a special tax was going to be required to fund the making of a statue of a Roman God.

Do you think Jesus would pay that tax to help fund the statue - or would He refuse?

Depends on a few things I think...if He was called to worship or in some way approve the false and wicked thing...we know He would not. If it was a matter of paying taxes of course we know He would.

You're not supporting gay marriage by baking the cake. You're simply making a cake because that's your job, you're a baker, you bake cakes. And let's put Mathew 7:1-5 in here. Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. Divorce is also a sin, but half the people on here have probably been divorced. Only he without sin may cast the first stone. So unless you can honestly look me in the eye and tell me that you haven't ever sinned in your entire life, then the best thing we can do as christians is let it go. If gays want to get married, then let them. It's not hurting us, it's not saying that WE have to get gay marriages. Our time is better spent on our relationship with God weather than whining and crying because the government said a man can marry a man and a woman can marry a woman

Ro 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Does it sound like God wants us to support sexual perversion and bake cakes to celebrate it?

I didn't take your response as sarcastic :) I just think that many Christians on this topic as with many other topics need to consider different aspects of a question. Sometimes it's not about for or against, it's more about "thinking" why your for or against. There is always a standard of truth and each one of us must decide where we are in it. Hearing other views and discussing them like we do on CC is helpful, just as hearing the view of other Christians such as Ravi Zacharias who most of us respect greatly as an teacher of Apologetic s . His contribution to the Christian faith and the work he does all over the world for Jesus has given him a platform from which to speak and I thought worth hearing here on this topic.

I also don't enjoy endless links supporting certain views, but Ravi is blessed with a gift to cause others to pause and think. I like that. Sometimes we think we have heard it all when in reality we should always be willing to be learning. Thus, I think he has a radio show called "Let My People Think"

Unfortunately many people have a knee jerk reaction to certain subjects without knowing certain foundational issues. Many Christians "jerk the knee" so it does benefit us to stop and think before rushing in with our opinions or knee jerk reactions.
Wow crossnote, too bad Ravi couldn't so easily define Apologetic s into simple sentences as you have, he could have saved himself a lot of time in his speaking engagements and been home more!!!

Is that a movie, or TV show?

Either way, I haven't seen it.
TV show on NBC this spring. That was the plot -- Caligula sending a golden statue of himself to Jerusalem and insisting the Jews display it in the Temple.

Kind of a convoluted story around which to tell the Gospel, and it ending up being not quite true to church history, but it was good solid entertainment that made people think.

Real funny. It was just a summary for those who didn't care to view it. I saw the full video with Os Guiness last week.
...and I've been known to be the bumper sticker theologian in these dem parts.

Well, that's the whole point of posting Ravi's views, to think on the topic with an appreciation for some information and get maybe another aspect of the topic that might not have been considered in the first place. When you gave a sentence summery, it does not allow for that. I'm glad you saw the "full video with Os Guiness last week" but others like myself might not have.
Yup, I'm aware of your "bumper sticker theologian" talents in these parts.

"It does not allow for that" is a rather subjective claim, but nevertheless is allowed.
