Spoken like a true non musician. I question what you call noise. There is nothing wrong with Heavy Metal! Maybe you can't handle it, but for those of us that can, it can be a real inspiration. I'm sorry, i just can't listen to easy listening music for very long
As I said before, I used to love Metallica and Mega Death back in the day. Metallica used to be one my favorite bands growing up. But when I gave my life to Christ, that all changed in time. I had given up those things and then I had changed spiritually. What I used to like, I do not like anymore because it is of the world and not of God. The music is violent and agressive and the Lord never tells us to be violent and agressive while we are here on this Earth in the New Testament.

I also used to like Stryper, too. But I realized that they sound and look like the world, too. This is no surprise because they acted like the world, too.

The following helpful information exposing STRYPER is from Dr. Terry Watkins...

With long womanish hair, earrings, mascara, lip-gloss, eye shadow and effeminate clothes, Stryper demolished any convictions left in Christian music! How Christians tolerate such ungodly behavior is frightening! And despite the Bible's clear warnings! 1 Corinthians 6:9 says ". . . Be not deceived: neither fornicators, . . . NOR EFFEMINATE, . . . shall inherit the kingdom of God." The demonic creatures from the bottomless pit in Revelation 9:8 are described as "their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as THE HAIR OF WOMEN. . ."! But what's the Bible got to do with it. . .

Stryper are not exactly "good little Christian boys." In 1989 Stryper toured with secular rockers White Lion. Drummer, Greg D Angelo, says, "We threw a party . . . About two in the morning ROBERT SWEET WAS WHACKED! DRUNK! He was being dragged around on his tiptoes by two women holding him up!" (RIP, June, 1989, p.41)

Stryper also toured with the perverted secular group WASP (whose name stands for We Are Sex Perverts). WASP singer Blackie Lawless drinks blood on stage in a human skull. WASP spreads their Satanic message, as they tell young people the vicious lie that Lucifer loves them much they're drunk on his love and magic, in "Sleeping in the Fire"...

Metal has a lot of subgenres, some of which really are just noise, and labeled as noise metal.
But the vast majority of metal is closer to classical music than any other modern music, including jazz.
If you enjoy Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Mozart, etc, the closest modern composers to them are all in metal bands. That is a Berkley fact.

Music concept aside, my point is about lyrics being the most important part of a song, not the musician or the style.

Jason's point about "Christian" bands is not really on target, because all of us who listened to the lyrics of As I Lay Dying knew that they were not Christians, and were not talking about anything that had productive spiritual value, but only hopelessness.
This is where discernment comes in.
Where that band was a wolf in sheep's clothing, not all are. Don't be a fool and throw out everything due to one example.

Is this Christian?
". . .what fellowship hath RIGHTEOUSNESS with UNRIGHTEOUSNESS? and what communion hath LIGHT with DARKNESS? And what concord hath CHRIST with BELIAL?. . ."

THE LUCIFER'S MAGIC

On the back of WASP's album reads, "The gods you worship are steel, AT THE ALTAR OF ROCK AND ROLL YOU KNEEL."The concert tour was called "HEAVEN AND HELL"!

Where did Jesus, the apostle Paul, and other believers get agressive when they sang to God? The short answer is that they didn't. Where does the New Testament teach that you can be aggressive in spirit? Do you seriously expect me to believe that such music honors God and that such music will be in Heaven?

That's not metal... nor modern. That's glam rock... look at the hair.

So glad I was listening to the Donut Man when this stuff was popular.

Can you show where it says not to play aggresive music? After all, Jesus was fairly aggesive with the money changers!!!!

Imagine all that seed sowed and watered by Stryper when they toured with him.......God forbid we hold the truth back from someone because of being easily offended by and at their sin!

You obviously don't listen to much metal... and much less metal from Christians. Passion is easily confused with aggression by those who only understand aggression... and less by those unwilling to LISTEN, but only hear with deaf ears.

When was the last time you listened to a preacher who was yelling? It's aggressive, and off-putting, but also convicting... If you are actually listening to him, rather than just hearing.

Let's take your silly thought, and place it upon "firey preachers". Do you think that yelling at the Body of Christ honors God? Do you think such preaching will occur in Heaven?

I know you listen to yelly preachers, because I watched your video about hypostatic union.

He became all things to all men that he might win some........you cannot win the lost if you are never around the lost and to be quite frank..in the 80's I was able to witness to a lot of lost people because I was around them and they were not offended that I had smoked a joint with them! It is not those things that eneter into a man that defiles a man............!
