At first, I didn't like it.
Then I realized it was actually really inspiring and truthful, and powerful.
Thanks for sharing.
There is a whole lot said in that song beyond first glance.

There is a whole lot said in that song beyond first glance.
I have a personal bias against ballad style.
But a soul can't help but enjoy what speaks to it.
And yes, that song did speak to my soul, the very Gospel.

Why not quote the context of those verses there pal.....We then as WORKERS TOGETHER! Since when do we have the right to (hang verses) on our view and or what we think?
What context are you talking about? Care to elaborate on the verses and explain them for us?

You obviously don't listen to much metal... and much less metal from Christians. Passion is easily confused with aggression by those who only understand aggression... and less by those unwilling to LISTEN, but only hear with deaf ears.

When was the last time you listened to a preacher who was yelling? It's aggressive, and off-putting, but also convicting... If you are actually listening to him, rather than just hearing.

Let's take your silly thought, and place it upon "firey preachers". Do you think that yelling at the Body of Christ honors God? Do you think such preaching will occur in Heaven?

I know you listen to yelly preachers, because I watched your video about hypostatic union.
First, like I said before, I used to love Metallica. They were at one time my favorite band. But I have been delivered from such music because of Jesus Christ. Second, there is a difference in speaking the Word with a raised voice so as to convict people versus listening to aggressive head banger music (that changes your spirit for the worse and not for the better).

How so?

Here is a testmony of an amateur songwronger who was into Heavy Metal music:

"Over 20 years ago I was an amateur songwriter, and I hung out with some club bands. I was mainly into Heavy Metal like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and the like. I can honestly say both the lyrics and style of music were nothing but the voice of Satan tempting me. If they sang about drugs or devil worship, it must be OK, I thought. So I did those things. The escalation of my drug & alcohol use, and my occultism escalated parallel to the music I listened to.

Black Sabbath songs like N.I.B. (Which stands for "Nativity in Black, I later found out) and "Lord of this World" sparked a deffinite interest in the occult. With some of the musicians I hung around with I cursed Christians, and we even played music near a church to try to cast a spell on the Christians.

Even as a Christian I struggled with this music. I noted that just the style of beat alone could influence people. While working out in the gym I could normally lift about 245 - 250 lbs. on the bench press. But if someone turned on Ac/Dc (Usually the song Hells Bells, or Highway to Hell) I found I could press up to 275 lbs, and I could do more reps as well.

Its been scientifically proven that the beat of music influences the heart rate, releases adrenaline, and has an effect on attitude. One day at work a few years ago a lady friend of mine working next to me told me to watch how people worked when either Heavy Metal or hard core Rap was played. Sure enough, the quality of work decreased, and we noticed a change in attitudes for the worse. When mellower music ws put on, or no music, the quality of work got better. We observed this over several weeks.

I knew from my involvement that there are backmasked messages in a lot of rock music. Although you can't hear them consciously, these words still go into your brain subconsciously, and the brain like a computer makes them a subconscious thought which can surface later. I've listened to tapes that show this to be proved by scientific testing.

As a Christian I can honestly say that every time I allowed myself to listen to Heavy Metal, I backslid. Maybe I never went back to what I was, but I did get very distant from the Lord. I stopped going to church, stopped praying, and my Bibles collected dust. In their place I would write songs and record music on tapes.

One song I wrote in 1991 had these lyrics: (Don't forget, I'd been saved several years already & even ministered in churches by that time)

"I'm living with your sin!
It cries out in my soul!
Never ends, always begins.
Cause to lose control.
Deceased kings speak to me and I have seen the world through their eyes, yeah!"

That doesn't sound to Christ inspired, does it?
And those are just the opening lyrics. The rest is worse, so I wont write it.

I also realized that by buying rock & Heavy metal tapes that I was only supporting the artists: many of whom are in the occult and are drug addicts. Think of it this way. The musicians who die from drug overdoses purchase those drugs from money earned from the royalties to their music. Those who buy their music are contributing to their deaths!

It grieves me when I hear Christians defend rock music and say things such as, "It doesn't bother me," or "I still live for God," or "If people do bad things because of rock & roll, its because they're weak minded."

The Word of God tells us to have NO FELLOWSHIP WITH THE UNFRUITFUL WORKS OF DARKNESS. Anyone who can't see this music is a work of darkness has to be spiritually blind. I admit I was and I THANK GOD HE SHOWED ME MY ERROR AND DELIVERED ME.

There are evil spirits in that music, and this I know for fact. In the occult we purposely invoked demons, summonsed demons to be in the songs! I've read expose`s that reveal the professional bands often do the same. The Rolling Stones was one of the most notorious to have done this.

Rock music had a BIG hold on me, and was one of my struggles for years on and off, even as a Christian. I thank God for his power and his deliverance from Satan who uses rock music to establish strongholds in many lives. I pray that God show anyone whose still involved in this music that it needs to be repented of. what does it glorify? Sex, drugs, satan, and violence? then what are we doing listening to it? Jesus called us out of the world to be sanctified, not to be partaking in the sins of the world.

PRAISE GOD FOR FREEDOM FROM THIS SIN!

The context of 2nd Corinthians 6 is working together for the cause of Christ and the verses that you hung your view on is about ecumenical works in the name of Christ.....and the stage is set by the statement...We then as WORKERS TOGETHER......True believers have no part with INFIDELS just as light and darkness, Christ and Belial, right and wrong, light and darkness have no part with each other......that is why one who believes in salvation by grace dai faith will NEVER get along with one who believes in salvation by WORKS as two cannot walk together unless they be agreed!

Verses please.

Also, if there is no fellowship between light and darkness, then how does your view of 1 John 1:8 tie into that?

2nd Corinthians chapter 6 Jason and as far as 1st John 1:8 it is evident....those who say they have no sin are decieved and the truth is not in them....one of these days you will figure out that there are numerous sets of verses that teach about the conflict between the fallen nature of the flesh and the born again nature of the spirit...EVEN JESUS spoke to this when he said the Spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak............!

I know you know. But it is why he can fellowship( or interact/ I hate calling it fellowship) with just a select few here. He is in the darkness and he will not understand a word you say.

Wouldn't one go to sleep at night and think," I am not the only Christian in this world and I might just be wrong on some issues."

Gosh darn I have been on this forum just for a short time and have had to suck it up a few times. It sucks but, I DON"T want to be deceived.

So a believer will always be in sin because of 1 John 1:8? How exactly are we to be the light that is not to have fellowship with darkness if that is the case?

The example and the topic at hand... are not relevant to one another.

How do you see a difference between a preachers yelling and a singer yelling?
It is the message that matters.
A soft spoken preacher can fill the room with excitement, if the words are Truth.
Just the same as a screaming preacher.
Just the same as the Word sung by a boy choir,
And the Word sung by a passionately yelling youth.

There is no logic behind your argument, and no Spirit behind the rebuke.
Getting out of secular music is one thing.
Tearing out the wheat with the tares is another.

I want you to take your logic, and place it in another genre, and see if it hold a up.
Mozart was a womanizer, and used his music and operas as ways of seducing women, by both skill of composition, and innuendo within the material.
By your logic, the hedonism of Mozart is inscribed upon all classical music.

Do you think before forming opinions, or form them and then try to find examples of why you are right?

There is no logic in your argument. You see what you want to see. A man proclaiming the Word of God loudly is not the same as someone screaming into a microphone and playing music that is overly aggressive that sounds evil. You can't see it, because you have not come out of listening to that type of music. Only when you put it away and repent of such a thing will be able to see.

So my points are valid. Why would I be set free from something that is not sinful?
Why would others be, too?

It's not a secret that if you are a Rock singer, that girls fall all over you and that people want to party and do drugs with you. It's something that is a part of the world. You get mixed up with the ways of the world, then one is steeped in sin in no time flat. For are there secular or worldly Rock bands that don't have women throwing themselves at them and people who don't want to party with them? For why do people love them? Because the world loves it's own.

In other words, if one is not persecuted for Christ and they are instead ... loved by the world... then something is seriously wrong.

Well I would have to disagree with your statement here as you have made numerous false judgments on me !!!
