So if it was one of your children in eternal agony, you think you'd still he happy to enjoy your time in heaven?
"Yes, I agree.. My child deserves to suffer agony for eternity".
Can you ever see yourself making those comments?
I'm saying 'you' because im replying to you, but its more of an open question lol
From my sinful, human perspective? No, of course not.
But again, we still see through that dark glass and don't have a full understanding of God's holiness and justice. We actually have a rather low opinion of both.
Now, what I mean by that is, we humans have a tendency to equate God with our own opinions and emotions. We attempt to bring Him down to "our level."
Yet God has told us that His ways and His thoughts are far above our own.
Now, if my son committed a brutal murder and was sentenced to death by the State, I could accept that punishment as appropriate.
It would pain me to no end - but his own death would be just. One physical life for one physical life.
As far as hell goes, when we sin against an eternal God, we have incurred an eternal debt, deserving of an eternal punishment. It's not so much the sin itself, it's
who we sin against.
