I feel so lazy lol. I barely have done anything as far as foods and cooking goes. I haven't really ate very healthy. I should be better at doing that.

So, this has been sitting out in the garage (which is actually not a garage and is more just extra storage space for my husband's family's junk...and a few treasures) for YEARS. It's beautiful and I go out and look at it sometimes, just to be near it. I can see it in my mind, in my house, cleaned up and cared for...

image.jpg

Up to now, I haven't been properly motivated to do the work it would take to get it from the corner of the garage and into my house. However, today I pulled all the ugly doors off of the ugly cabinets in the ugly kitchen and am in the process of cleaning them so I can paint (but the doors are Not going back on). And I realized it would be fantastical if I had a better storage solution for my dishes, and I remembered this wonderful piece of furniture that is being sorely misused and neglected.

And I must have it in my house.

Unfortunately, even once I clear it out and de-spider it, I can't move it by myself. At least, not far. Of COURSE I decide to do this at the beginning of the week my husband is gone.

I'm gonna do something crazy.

Cris: The cabinet is great, but I'm distracted by that twisty thing. I'm not sure what it is, but it blows my mind.

loving the cabinet.

and that twistytree thingie floorlamp is kind of neat. you could update the lamp hardware, which would make it neater.

i mean, it makes me think supercoolrustic which is definitely my taste. but maybe it's stain that is throwing me. i'd probably be weird enough to love something like that.

but i also would like a little stream through my house too.

I even have a drum shade that would look really cool on that lamp. I'm obsessed with that lamp. :sigh:

MissCris, when you come to my market, we can drool over the wood and rock table one of the artisans has. It's this amazing piece.... and I wants it. But I can't justify the cost of the purchase. How I love natural elements in my decor.

The twisty thing is a lamp base that my husband's great-grandfather made out of...juniper? I think it's juniper. We have a lot of strangely cool stuff hiding around here (though most of it I find to be a lot cooler right where it is rather than in my house).

Kenthomas needs to come see that lamp because he might think it's neat.

(Think I can hint any harder that I could give that heirloom lamp a very good coastal home? NO? Should I let it go? I mean... they ARE coming for a visit.... and driving... hmmm)

*Calls customer to give him a quote on a repair service*

Customer's voicemail greeting: "Hello, you've reached so-n-so. I can't come to the phone right now, but if you leave your name and number, I will get back to you. Hold on, let me get a paper and pencil...*mindless shuffling*"

Me: "... ... ..."

Voicemail: "The voicemail box is full."

Me: Ugh! *CLICK!*

Okay okay okay... I've been picking on Shouryu's favorite show long enough. I have to say something good about them.

I was wandering around youtube and stumbled on a song that was really good.

I'm not sure what's up with the horse that hides in a barrel and wears a diving helmet in a pool... but the song is great! As a music nut I can't deny it. Catchy beat, good harmony, but most important is the meaning. Everyone got a little music in them.

Well... there are a few people who hate any kind of music. But those people hate everything about life.

i tried replying to posts...my phone said no...

But the main point I tried to make in my disappeared post was that I ABSOLUTELY want to give this neat stuff homes where it will be loved, but my husband's grandmother would kill me. Because she's a hoarder. And even though she doesn't even know what all is out here, she would sense a disturbance in the force if I got rid of anything.

...not that the threat of death would stop me if my husband gave the ok...

"Disturbance in the force" ROFL. Girl, I know that feeling.

I will say, though I'm not a hoarder, one of the very few good things about being single and living alone is: Everything is where I put it last.

you know what i was thinking when i saw that lamp?

see, i have have had friends over the years who have had stuff forced upon them by well-meaning relatives, and because they didn't choose it, they are lacking the ability to see something as cool and neat. i had a friend whose grandparents gifted them some old cabinet that her husband wanted and she thought was ugly as sin.

anyway, i was like "you know, this thing is like really cool, it just needs ____ and ____ and maybe _____ and then it would be amazing.

and they look at it and go, "wow, you're right!". sometimes i think we just need someone to see the beauty and coolness of something, even an adjustment in color or whatever. and then we can see its beauty. i'm inclined to agree with the potentially-homicidal grandma, i don't think you SHOULD give those things away. they're part of your family and something you can update and restore.

besides, that big twisty lamp would be a pretty memorable fixture for little kiddos who will remember it fondly in the landscape of their growing up memories. : )

but i think you should strip it and stain it a different color. : D

That IS a very cool lamp! I think MissCris is right. It looks like a juniper column and they're very cool. I like the cabinets too. The painted one would sell sooooo quick you don't even know. It's not primitive but close and people just eat that stuff up, you wouldn't believe. I was out in the woods Sunday and found these real weird pieces of wood. I'm going to go take a picture of them. brb.....

weird wood.jpg

Look like bugs sort of. Anyway I'm going to open them up and see what's going on once they dry up a little.

I love old stuff. I love fixing it up. I love that so much around my house was handmade by my husband's family. But that lamp...man. That thing is WHACK.

...but I think you're right, I think it's the stain.

At my grandma's for the week. Yaaaaayy. I'm gonna be driving her around tomorrow. Keep her and I both in your prayers. >.< I'm still learning! Though I'm a pretty good driver at this point, I'm still nervous.

Ah Sweets! The benefit of driving with your granny is that she won't care if you drive a bit slowly and cautiously. Excellent experience for you!
