Well, I think it's okay to celebrate christmas like most of us do- lights, decoration's, christmas tree, as long as you don't forget the real meaning of christmas. It's the day on wich we remember the birth of Jesus Christ. You celebrate a birthday, don't you? And where does it say in the bible that you've got to celebrate a birthday by eating cake, setting up decorations, getting gifts and singing happy birthday? Nowhere. Yet we still do it. Why? To remember the person's birth. The same with Christmas. No, Jesus wasn't born on 25 december. But we chose that date to remember him. And we're celebrating his birth, and his life. Don't we have the right to CELEBRATE? We celebrate by decorating, and being happy and cheerful. As long as you're doing it for Jesus, I don't have a problem with it.

As a true follower of Messiah, I have forsaken the ways of the word, and now seek to do the will of Yahweh. The Father makes it very clear in His word that He despises the methods used to worship other gods, and warns His people on several occassions not to participate in such practices.

Deuteronomy 12:29-31
The LORD your God will cut off before you the nations you are about to invade and dispossess. But when you have driven them out and settled in their land, and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared by inquiring about their gods, saying, "How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same." You must not worship the LORD your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the LORD hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.

Saladin Easter and Christmas has nothing to do with worshipping false Gods now in the 21st Century. It has everything to do
with having a break from work and getting together with family and friends. Both holidays are now Christian festivals.

The word "easter" in Acts 12:4 is transliterated from the Greek word for Pasha. The word "easter" is derived from "eostre/eastre" of the Babylonian pagans.

If we should be celebrating a specific feast, God would have definitely put it in His Word to make sure. After all, all the feasts the Jews celebrate each year are found in the Bible. They are: 1. Passover, 2. Unleavened bread, 3. Firstfruits, 4. Pentecost, 5. Feast of trumpets, 6. Day of atonement, 7. Feast of tabernacles.

Yet, we can't find a verse that states:
"Behold! The Lord thy God hath made thee an appointed time to remember the lamb which was slain for mankind; it shall be at the twelfth month and on the twenty fifth day of the month that ye shall have a feast and on it ye shall eat, and ye shall drink, and ye shall take a tree for thy house and shall put it there as an ornament. This hath the Lord of hosts spoken, and ye shall do it as I am the Lord thy God."


Both christmas as well as easter have no origin in the Bible, neither did the first apostles celebrate these feasts.

I don't celebrate either one of them.Christmas is about Santa who took the place of Christ and is utterly evil.Easter was a Roman Pagan holiday that ran alongside the passover,I think the good ol KJV mentions Easter.Add to that most Christians celebrate the resurrection on'' Easter Sunday'' which is a day early as Jesus was dead for 3 days not 2 days and then there is those wretched eggs,the pagans used to paint patterns on them, hench the pretty wrappers.Basically these two holidays are Roman catholic not Christian.

You may think it's OK to celebrate Christmas and Easter but at the end of the day that is irrelevant.The question is....does God think it's OK?
I'm pretty sure God is Ok with us honoring his Son, no matter what day

a lot of people miss the point of our freedom in christ and frame far too many questions with the word 'should'...for example 'should we celebrate christmas or easter?'

the truth is that this is not a 'should' question...in the final analysis God doesn't care if we celebrate christmas or easter...

the real question is 'can we celebrate christmas or easter?' and the answer is yes!

but there -are- some 'should' question involved in this...namely 'should christians judge other christians for celebrating christmas and easter? should christians use false information about the so called pagan origins of these holidays to guilt other christians?'

to that question the answer is 'no!'...the bible says God does not want us to judge each other in matters where he has granted us freedom...and God certainly doesn't want us to rely on misinformation to make our case...

So, let's put this into todays perspective. . . . Let's say we take a holiday like Ramadan, and let's change it up a little and put Jesus in it, and we're doing this so we can try and convert muslims to our faith, that way they're comfortable in it.

Do any of you agree with doing this?

Because that's what christmas and easter were made for, it may not have the same meaning today as it did back then, but that was the intent of these holidays. They were taking pagan ways and put christian beliefs into them to get the pagans to change their faith, and still be comfortable.

Do you think Jesus would be ok with this?

I do not think so.

Like I said, they're man made traditions, and if their is one thing we all know is the Jesus teaches against man made traditions multiple times.

Personally, I'm not trying to convert Muslims or anyone else for that matter. Witnessing your Christian faith is a good thing but it is up to the hearer of the Word whether to convert or not.

There is nothing wrong biblically wrong about celebrating Christmas, Easter or even Halloween. Why take all the enjoyment out of life?

There is nothing in your post that I am in agreement with.

Actually after I left Christianity I gave up easter and christmas.

I'm just stating that as an example.

I didn't say you have to agree with me, but the one thing I am stating is Jesus teaches against following man made traditions multiple times. Read the gospel, it's in there. Christmas and Easter and Holloween are all man made, Jesus would not approve just based on them being man made.

Christmas and Easter are founded on pagan practices with names and some Biblical truth that cause them to be acceptable to most denominations based on Christ Jesus. This compromise began with the Roman Catholic Church, and these holidays (that really aren't Holy Days) are accepted by Protestant religions also. This makes the name "Protestant" one to be deceiving because it has accepted many false traditions which they say they have protested against. If any are interested in knowing the Holy Days (for real) that God has ordained, then search the scriptures.

Jesus said; "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39)
Our Savior was referring to what we term as the Biblical Old Testament (Torah and Tanakh, being the law and the prophets).

I think we should follow what Jesus teaches. I don't see anywhere in the bible where it states anything about Christmas or Easter. Like I said in my post way earlier, I do think it's ok to recognize His brithday in accordance with when He was born which is the first day of Sukkot (and for those who want to argue and say, "oh that can't be right.", a sukkot is a dwelling place, Jesus coming into this world on the first day of sukkot biblically makes sense, because Jesus physically started dwelling on earth). And as far as Easter, it's not in the bible, but Passover is and Jesus has a biblical representation in that as well in being the Passover lamb, and as for as recognizing His resurrection the fellowship I'm a part of does that with Passover.

So you have 2 non-bliblical man made holidays vs. 2 biblical God created feasts, which you can see Jesus in those feasts.

Just saying.

Good post even though the Bible I read doesn't specify give the day or month Christ Jesus was actually born. It evidently is not important even though the Bible does say that He was born at the right time. (Galatians 4:4)

The day Christ rose from the dead is the same day that Israel crossed the Red Sea on dry land, close to 1500 years earlier. This is another confirmation that Hope in Christ is a sure thing because God provides for His own.

I appreciate your post. Fact is: anything, anything not having its roots and origins in the Word of God is sinking sand. We must build upon rock, which is the Word of God. Do we want to celebrate Christ's birth of death and resurrection? We find answers in the Word of God to build upon. We can either have the Lord's supper and/or we can have a remembrance on one of the seven Jewish OT feasts, and although the Lord doesn't specifically ask us to do it this way (doing it on Sukkot for example), it's WAY better than taking pagan feasts and ADDING truth to it.

LIES + TRUTH = DECEIVING TRUTH! I think I read that in the Bible once!
