I made a decision I thought was necessary, knowing it would hurt the other person. It hurt me also, but not to the same extent. Now not only does said person feel they can't speak to me anymore, but their mother more or less called me to wish me well - and disown me.

I've never been disowned before...

I don't really have any peace about this, and I'm uncertain of whether that means I messed up, or if it's just me hurting and going through the motions.

I could really use some prayer on this.

Its hard to know what to think sometimes when our emotions overtake us and we are hurting. Im praying for God to give you peace, wisdom and comfort in this. He knows your pain. GBU

Remember some decisions in life can very much hurt now...or seem wrong.
But whatever the situation is....I am praying soon it will be for the best.
Hold on....and there will be light around the corner. :)

Lord we pray for this prayer request, please give your understanding of this matter and peace to siberian_khatru. Bless the other person also. Lord remove any negative feelings from their heart and guide to help each other and share your love. Let there be no room for the devil. Lord bless siberian_khatru in this subject. I'm sorry to hear you're going through this, Siberian. :(

I'm also sorry that the person's mother... got involved? Seems awfully extreme but I'm really sorry to hear that. :(

I can relate a little bit to your situation. I'm finding myself in a lot of situations lately in which I could smooth things over by just letting things go, or stand up and confront them, knowing there is going to be a lot of fallout because I've let things go for the sake of trying to keep the peace... for way too long.

I hope things get better. Please keep us posted and we will definitely be thinking of you and praying. Sometimes some choices need to be made, and because we can't please everyone all the time, we have to ask God for the strength to keep going.

Much appreciated, everyone. I can't say I'm "over it" quite yet, but your prayers, words of wisdom, and time is helping. Last night gave me the opportunity to meet with a friend going through some struggles too; being able to dish with one another and be vulnerable where we aren't with others helped as well.

P.S. Kim - "Extreme..." Yeah, that may be one way to put it. The few people that know the situation feel similarly. Thanks a ton for sharing what you're going through. I'll be praying for you too. :)

Hang in there. You're a tough cookie (meaning, you seem to be very wise, patient, and understanding which I admire... You're not someone who makes decisions hastily) and I'm sure whatever you decided wasn't without a lot of heavy thought and consideration.

Sometimes we have to do things that hurt other people, for their own good. It can create problems afterwards. It makes us think twice before we do it again. Sometimes we think about it later and wish we hadn't done it. An apology sometimes helps in a situation like that. Sometimes we just have to forget about it and move on.

We all do the best we can with the information we have at the time. If we have faulty info and it goes bad, what can we do? We did what we could with the info we had at the time. We learn and move on.

And sometimes we have to hurt people to help them. No it doesn't feel very good but you have to do what you have to do. We're responsible for each other and our neighbors. If what you did was out of concern and love, God knows your heart had good intentions. That what He looks at most so if it's cool with Him I wouldn't come down so hard on yourself. From what I know of here I don't think what you did was wrong. What would be wrong is not learning and growing from the experience.

Thanks Ricky, and I hope you're right about it not being wrong. I do believe you're right about doing the best we can with what we know; here's to hoping that knowledge at that time led me to do the right thing.
