19 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road to Ephesus. When he arrived, he found some believers there. [SUP]2 [/SUP]He asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believers?”
“No,” they answered. “We haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
[SUP]3 [/SUP]So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?”
“John’s baptism,” they replied.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Paul said, “John baptized people, calling them to turn away from their sins. He told them to believe in the one who was coming after him. Jesus is that one.” [SUP]5 [/SUP]After hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. [SUP]6 [/SUP]Paul placed his hands on them. Then the Holy Spirit came on them. They spoke in languages they had not known before. They also prophesied. [SUP]7 [/SUP]There were about 12 men in all.

Appollos
[SUP]24 [/SUP]At that time a Jew named Apollos came to Ephesus. He was an educated man from Alexandria. He knew the Scriptures very well. [SUP]25 [/SUP]Apollos had been taught the way of the Lord. He spoke with great power. He taught the truth about Jesus. But he only knew about John’s baptism. [SUP]26 [/SUP]He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. Priscilla and Aquila heard him. So they invited him to their home. There they gave him a better understanding of the way of God.
