I would think a person that actually commits suicide is possessed by demons. They are giving up on life. They have lost all faith. We know that it is a spiritual war we are fighting. So I think the question would be can a person possessed by evil spirits enter into the kingdom?

so I can slit my rist right now and I am set and going to heaven wow some adult gidents

I told you the TRUTH. A saved sinner, is one who has been empowered by the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:13), to admit to GOD that he or she is a sinner and repent of it (1 John 1:9, Luke 13:5); and empowered to receive JESUS CHRIST as LORD, meaning MASTER (Rom. 10:9). At that VERY MOMENT, the Holy Spirit brings their once dead human spirit to ETERNAL LIFE (Col. 2:13, John 3:36), and POURS the LOVE OF GOD into that heart (Rom. 5:5). IT IS THAT LOVE of GOD that spawns within our human spirit the DESIRE to continually OBEY HIM (John 14:15, 1 John 5:3). THAT is why I said if it is possible for a born again Christian to commit suicide, then it would be due to a chemical imbalance or mental illness, because for the born again Believer it is always natural for our human spirit to want to do what pleases our Lord.

So what do I know about the subject? I was raised in a Christian Christian Church all of my life, but I did not become a born again Christian until I was 29 years old, after my third attempt at suicide in a single week, the last week in December of 1977. That NIGHT, I surrendered complete control of my life, to my LORD Jesus Christ.

Young One, you have a lot more to learn, by studying the BIBLE intently.

Two more verses, that I know you have never read:

1 Timothy 5:1-2 (ESV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] Do not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers,
[SUP]2 [/SUP] older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity.

Also I'd like to mention the mental illness issue. That is not from God. 2 Timothy 1:7. God has given us a sound mind. I think the enemy likes to destroy us in any way. By keeping us medicated, confused, depressed, angry, etc.

NO, there are chemical imbalances that can cause SEVERE DEPRESSION, and of course mental illness; but you are right, there are many demons that would love to sabotage GOD's plans for your life by tempting you to commit suicide. I was just a church goer my whole life until I a couple months before I turned 30. I acknowledged that Jesus was real and that the stories about him were real, BUT that did not make me a real Christian because even the DEMONS acknowledge that much. My severe depression came after my wife of only six months demanded a divorce on Christmas Eve, "because I could not earn enough money to buy her the things in life that she wanted." HONEST, that is the reason she gave me.

I KNOW THAT FEELING OF WANTING TO CEASE TO EXIST. I had the pistol against my head with the trigger half pulled, the first two times. I was not afraid to die, I really wanted to cease to exist. What STOPPED ME was a terror of KNOWING I was about to WALK INTO HADES AND THEN HELL, and I KNEW HELL WAS FOREVER. It was a TERROR way beyond someone holding a knife to my throat. The third attempt was on a motorcycle while trying to arrange fatal motorcycle accident while extremely drunk. But GOD kept me from losing control and killing myself. After I got home and sobered up, something in me BROKE and I found myself on my knees weeping like a baby; with wave, after wave of GUILT for my whole lifestyle washing over me. That is why I cried out to HIM, "LORD forgive me, if you have a purpose for my life, you will have to come into it, and do it, because I CAN'T DO IT. I am making a total mess of my life!" HE has been doing a WAY BETTER JOB of running my life ever since, than I ever did. :)

@VCO. Thanks for sharing your testimony. Do you think that you got delivered that day.? I think the enemy was after you but you defeated him by calling upon Jesus Christ.

Actually all sickness and illness is not from God. Sickness is a result of the fall of Adam and we were all in Adam. God has given us not only a sound mind when we got saved but also healing and deliverance but it is not always seen right away. And He uses many different agents for getting well. Much of our maturing in Christ is a process.

Medication for mental illness was explained to me in this way., it is no different than a diabetic who needs insulin. It's a chemical imbalance that needs to be balanced. I don't know all there is to know about sickness and healing but I do know God uses doctors and hospitals and medicine. Yes, the enemy does like to use our minds against us and usually we are always in a battle for keeping our minds "stayed" on Him by faith. Believing Jesus can do what we can't. A daily mindset that takes time to develop called in he Bible- being transformed by the renewing of the mind.
Not all medication for mental illness makes people confused and depressed and angry. It does the very opposite when given properly. Just like any of the thousands of medications for other sicknesses.

I'll tell Dd that. He takes no medication. (He should. He won't.) He has dementia.

Christine, do you know how many Veterans commit suicide each year, because of the mental stress they went through in Combat?

Although national tracking of veteran suicide rates is unreliable at best, the VA estimates that
22 veterans commit suicide each day. This means approximately 8,030 veterans kill themselves every year, more than 5,540 of whom are 50 or older.
Severe mental stress can be very detrimental to mental health, whether it be combat related or otherwise. I know a Christian has a better chance of coming completely out of it, and it is not related to demons; however even Christians can be pushed to the breaking point, but less often than non-Christians. My Dad had bad memories of World War II for many years. Imagine vivid memories of picking of body parts of buddies after a battle, where a single blast form a German Panzer Tank blew to pieces half of his Squad. They had to pick up the pieces and pile them up for the Grave Registration Team. Imagine the Firemen that have to carry out the charred remains of children the died if a fire; or the Highway Patrolmen that look for the head of baby that was decapitated in a Car accident. Sorry to be so graphic, but you are not thinking about how Severe Stress can effect even a Christian.

Like I said, I was taking up space on a Pew and Knew ABOUT Jesus, however sitting on a pew did not make me a Christian any more than sitting in a garage would make me a Car. I absolutely believe, that was the NIGHT that I absolutely came to KNOW HIM very intimately as my LORD. Prior to that I was addicted to a Party Hardy Sinful Lifestyle; and the theory that "the Devil made me do it", is a COP OUT for owning up to choosing to wallow in SIN.

most ppl only have idea that suidie victims may go hell because one reason it is sin to murder and second reason jesus dies on cross for u so u can have a reason to live. You should be graceful by living not dying. the bible didn't say directly "It is sin to sucidie...or stuffs like that. ppl will make up words as they read bible.

If you ask what I think, I think might it is possibly that suicidie is wrong like sex and murderer is. But we are flesh (human beings) God is understanding, compassionate, loving, and everything. What if a person can't struggle with bills, death in family member, can't pay foods, funeral, or hold down job. Just wanna die...God can see all of it and understand the struggles. Only He can judge wheter that person can go heaven or hell. He feels that person's remorse and everything , so He knows.

I agree that blaming Satan for the choices we make is a cop out. And I'll take your word for it on the stats for veteran suicide. I'm not saying I can't see how a person can get to that state of severe depression. Especially veterans, police officers, doctors, etc. But even still with all that you've said I still feel like it's a person being oppressed by demons. Because there isn't a gray area in the bible on good/evil.God is good. God would never tell one of his children it's hopeless and to end their life. But the enemy would. I'm not implying the veterans are bad or weak. I just think they are not immune to Satan's devices like we aren't. Satan is the father of lies. He wants to kill, steal and destroy us. And I feel suicide is the ultimate way he succeeds.

What people say and what is Biblical fact can be two different things. Lots of 'things' are attributed to being in the BIBLE..but they are not. For instance "GOD helps those who help themselves"...not biblical at all. GOD helps those, despite themselves. Neither does the Bible say "If thou shalt commit suicide, thou shalt go to hell". A personal Christian friend of mine, a Gideon Bible leader, committed suicide. An autopsy revealed an anorism in the brain...a chemical imbalance and suddenly, with NO forwarning, my friend took his life. This was Not planned nor was it predicted. He was a fine example of a man sold out for CHRIST. Do I believe he is roasting in hell today? Who has the audacity to say "Yes"? I'd like to meet the person who thinks they know all the spiritual answers to someone else's final destiny. We are not called to go around and get stuck in that rut...We are called to share CHRIST with others, period. No matter their suicidal background, no matter their hair color, body piercings, tattoos, or crime sheet. Let's let the Holy Spirit deal with the afterlife.

I dont know how the bible regards it but I regard it as a sad tragedy.

  • In 2013 there were 3,309 suicides in Australia
  • Males are three times more likely to suicide
  • Aboriginals are 2.5 times more likely to suicide
  • For every suicide there are 30 attempts.
  • There are 13.4 teen suicides per 100 000
  • 60% of teen suicides are the result of bullying
  • The overwhelming majority of teen suicides are by hanging
  • This is a national tragedy

Good post..it would take years to try to resolve, indeed. A true CHRISTIAN, holy spirit filled, cannot be POSSESSED, however, we can still be targets of a demonic attack. Since satan tempted JESUS..who are we that we can't be approached? I do believe that most of the time, demons are throwing a party when they think they have succeeded in wiping out a Christian. Imagine the moment that JESUS 'gave up the ghost". The entire demonic world must have been rejoicing and jubilant for a while. They even laughed when Roman soldiers were paid to spread the rumor that the body of JESUS was stolen by some of His followers. It had to be one of the most happy moments of their miserable existence.
If the person who committed suicide did NOT have a personal relationship with JESUS...the BIBLE is clear on their eternal home...how they died matters NOT. If the person was a CHRISTIAN and got caught up in a moment that ended in suicide, rest assured that it will not be a kangaroo court of demons that get to be the jury on that account. Nor is it another human being that gets to decide the verdict. IT is always the triune awesome, all knowing GOD that comes to the defense. His final judgment on the ordeal will be FAIR and just. It is NOT our task.

I feel for those who are in such despair or torment that their best option is to end their life. I also particularly feel for the grieving loved ones left to deal with the result - bless them.

My post seems to be ignored.

Judas repented after betraying Christ, then committed suicide.

Jesus said that it would have been better if Judas had never been born.

So it seems that suicide is a grave sin that was committed after Judas' repentance, and he does not get into heaven.
Yes, ignoring someone happens often when the person assumes he is the only saved person in the world. Just a heads-up from someone you claim isn't saved. :D

Where in the bible does it say that people who commit suicide will go to hell? I've never found it, but people say it's true.
Use of a concordance will quickly show that that idea does NOT come from scripture.

Scripture only makes mention of one sin that is beyond God's forgiveness and suicide is not that one sin.

At what point are they possessed? At the moment of committing the act? Does the act have to be successful, or it's not Satanic? If a person's mind goes there, is that when demons hit? Because, if that's the case, you're saying the vast majority of people have been demon possessed. And you might believe that, but then the obvious next question: What stops the possession?

And, if you simply answer "God," then next question. Why would he allow the possession in the first place, accepting that some of his own kids would do that to themselves?

Tough position you have. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'd like you to elaborate, because that seems too simple to me, and I didn't feel any different (except in now-managable pain) between the time the thought enter, the time it became serious, and the time God gave me the pain pills I need to have a semi-relative life.
