Kenneth, what you preach is false....you deny verb tenses, the very definition of words, context and the simplicity that is found in Christ while following errors....John 3:16 and the verb tenses make it clear to any 1st century believer that they currently possessing eternal life and salvation and that it was gained by faith into Christ, The bible states it clearly that we are saved, justified, sealed and sanctified in Christ eternally based upon a once for all act,, yet you deny this...the bible is clear...salvation is eternal, cannot be lost, gained, earned, facilitated by anything we do, have done or will do other than acknowledging Jesus and believing in his resurrection....You do the very things you accuse others of...you refuse to acknowledge truth, scriptures and regurgitate your own theology which has its roots in false religion and the men you sat under...period!
Well lets see Dcon your teaching comes from a bible college, and mine comes from the Holy Spirit............
I think I will go with what the Holy Spirit says over any man made teaching system as the bible clearly says we have no need for another man to teach us because we have the Holy Spirit who gives us the truth.
1 John 2:27
But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teachth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
It is the system that you were taught in that has taken and overly complicated the word of God by throwing all that private interpretation into it with the verb tenses and such. The Holy Spirit gives us His truth and knowledge in the word, not another person or system created by man.
By making John 3:16 say salvation being a physical possession of ours right now, your doctrine contradicts all of these from Apostle Paul;
1 Thessalonians 5:8
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet,
the hope of salvation.
Romans 13:11
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is
our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Romans 2:7
To them who by patient continuance in well doing
seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
1 Timothy 4:8
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is,
and of that which is to come.
1 Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:19
Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they
may lay hold on eternal life.
2 Timothy 2:10
Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they
may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
So either Apostle Paul is a liar or what you have been taught in bible college is a lie, it is one or the other not both !!!
Titus 1:2
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
Titus 3:7
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
