As christians we should be different from the world, not like the world, that includes what we put on and in our bodies. Tattoos are things christians
should not be involved with.

The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:17 to "come out from among them and be ye separate" talking about being separate from the world. 1 Thesselonians 5:22 tells us to "abstain from all appearance of evil." Leviticus 19:28 tells us "not to print any marks upon you" ie talking about tattoos. A lot of people say that is Old Testament and because Jesus died for our sins, we don't need to uphold that any more. We don't need to do the sacrifices and stuff like that, however, in Matthew 5:17 Jesus said "think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets: I am not come to destroy but to fulfill" Christ is telling us that his coming does not do away with the laws of the Old Testament. God wants us to be separate from this world in what we do and where we go and how we act, because sometimes, a sinner won't have time to ask us our intentions, and they will only see the actions, and that witness may not be the best one. I am not condeming anyone for getting a tattoo, however, I am just saying, we need to live our lives in a manner in which to protect our testimony. Our testimony is like climbing a rock. It can take a long time to climb it, but not long at all to fall. We can work years to build up a testimony for God, but one or two bad decisions can destroy all that hard work.

Lev 19:27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
Lev 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.\

If you really feel you want that tatoo, then probably God gave you that feeling, so why doubt his decision?
Wont that kind of similar feeling comes from Satan?

People do put Tatoos the picture of Christ (Asuming that that's the picture of Christ). Nobody sees Christ, ther's no portrait drawn of Him, or photo snaps! That is just the assumtion of human thought. No one knows the looks of Christ now. so, my question is, is that a right thing to do or not?

Lots of folx are concerned about the immage they protray to the World or the christian community .just as stilli said "you gotta look at the stigma that most place on tattoos,So if you dont want to be stigmatised or catigorized,You should really take that into concideration,Christians and the world alike can be very judgmental,Mostly I draw pictures of the mental immages I get from verses or stories in the bible that stick out in my mind and If I feel I need to share them I get a tattoo of that immage,
gets folx to ask,
Christian and non christians alike.I've personally never had a bad reaction to my tattoos,But I'm sure alot of folx out there have.
I know in some gang situations, however,Pictures of the crucifiction represent their gang colors,as odd as it may seem,
Take for instance ,The MS13 use large back pieces of a crucifix or a large immage of Christ on their back.....Dont understand that But they do and theats how the cops recognise them aswell,(seen that on gangland on the history chanel)Kinda made me rethink the jesus tattoo idea personally.
But to each his own

1- pray about it.
2- depends on who does the tattoo for you. be very careful choosig the place to get it done
and TALK to the people first.
3- make sure that it is something that has meaning to you and something that you wont regret.

when i got my first tattoo i had been thinking about it since 6th grade.
it changed over the years and now its something that is very significant to me.
i plan on getting more tattoos, and they all will have a strong meaning to me.
i get asked probably 50 times a day what my tattoo means and when i tell people,
young or old, they all appreciate it because 1- its unique. and 2- it has a strong meaning
to me and my life.

in the bible it says 'not to mark yourself of the dead' because back in jesus' time, that is
how they mourned for their losses. dont put anyones name on your body and nothing
like RIP, ect. but everyone has their own opinion on the whole tattooing thing.
just pray about it.

If I got a tattoo, my daddy would kill me! Temporary tattoos as part of a costume are ok, though, but if I got ;a real one, si don't know what I would get. Maybe a star or a heart, ot the ILY sign on my hep or wrist.

I personally dont have a tatoo and if done in good taste and not a coloring book I personally dont think its a bad thing. I know the old testament disagrees. I just think that is a personal thing between you and the lord in other words what would he say.

I search the bible and I found one verse that doesnt really say a tattoo but if you take the literal meaning of this verse then it could be.

Rev. 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, aKING OF KINGS, AND bLORD OF LORDS.

What do you think?

NoahsMom,

Well, I guess that if the man or lady is a confident sort of person who finds it quite straightforward to speak to strangers, and even welcomes the increased opportunity to speak to strangers because of a faith related tattoo, then I guess it will be a particular attraction for them to want to have done, if that makes sense?

Take care.

I am gonna admit, to some ppl im sure my tattoos have kinda thrown them off, till they read it, or seen it, ( from a distance im quite sure they thought, yea, shes prolly a rough person ), to put it delicately, i dont do delicate well. Then when they get close enough to see, or ask what the hebrew means, i actually have had many nice discussions, witnessed to ppl, and had something in common once a conversation started. Did I do it to rebel? No, i was actually 30 years old, when i first started( wayyy past the rebellion stage), I got them because they mean something individually to me, and with my walk with God. Have I faced negetivity ? Of course, from christian ppl and non christian ppl as well. In short, i have been called everything but a child of God, strangly enough in here alot. The way I look at it, in order to be offended by what someones opinion is, you would have to care what they think. Call it rude, whatever, if a person is gonna judge me based solely on looks, and my skin, then i dont wanna get to know em anyways. Blessing in disguise I say. Some folks regret em im sure, Think long and hard about why your doin it, and make sure its something you can live with for the rest of your life. Personally, i have nothing on my body im ashamed to stand in front of the lord with, and he knows that, knew it when I got it even.
