So I was going to write a book once: "How I became the most popular mom on the block OR 100 awesome cookie recipes!"
One winter we had a cold spell in Vancouver BC. My husband made a rink in the backyard, and all the kids from both my sons' rep hockey teams were there skating every day.
I was baking 5 dozen cookies a day, to say nothing of all the hot chocolate! I will confess, I was a bit glad when the snow and ice melted. Oh yes, that was in the days of cassettes, and yes, I had quite a big collection, since my record collection was no longer of any use. Just get that pencil and rewind the cassette.
I love baking cookies and pies. I am renowned for my pies, even real gourmet types love them.
But I don't bake much anymore. I am quite overweight, and I don't need the calories. My metabolism has slowed down since I got RA, back in the day, I could eat anything I wanted and I was very thin. Maybe too thin. But I do need to lose the weight so my joints won't be carrying any extra weight on them.
But how to lose weight? I stopped making cookies, and my husband goes to Costco and buys them. He tries to hide them from me, but he doesn't need them any more than I do.
So yes, husbands do need cookies. But I am not going to be the one to bake them!
