Before there were any strange gods among us was I AM. We tend to call Him God in this day and age.
The last of the people (not the only ones) was Abram and his kin who still worshiped the Living God. They were descendants of Eber, though all mankind is desended of Adam, then Noah.
Abram believed God, therefore he was given the "brit" or covenant that his descendants were to be the possessors of the Gat of thieir enemies. Their enemies would be the remainder of humanity who did not yet worship the Living God, but still worshiped gods whom they had conceived through many years of the tratdions of their own forfathers.
The Gate is Jesus Christ. When we enter the Gate we are among the nation of God, for they are the possessors of the Gate, and we also become possessors of the Gate, that is Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the lLife.
The aforementioned "brit" or covenant was given to Abram, now called Abraham, long before the law.
The title, Jew, is from Judah, and it is only correct for believers who praise God, for Leah declared when she gave birth to a nother boy child, "I will now praise God." This is Juidah, I will now praie God.
So these titles are primarily important in conveying the history of our faith, the faith of Abraham. Our faith is a gift of God, just as it was for Abraham.
We may also be called the Israel of God, but titles are not important. What is important is to understand our faith, as taught by Jesus Christ, is likened to the faith of Abraham, and it does make us his spiritual descendants. If believers do not recognize this, I will not say they are not true family in Yeshua, but I will say with understanding that this denieal of Abraham as our forefather will lead to many tears being wiped away by our beloved Father.
Let us worship Jesus Christ in spirit and truth, for anything less is lacking, amen.
